Königin der Winterfeen

Rate this book

Also wünscht mir Glück!

Winter Fae Fun at the North Pole!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☺️😮🤩😘🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Artica - She is a Water Fae who has applied for an internship at the North Pole with Kalt, whom she has had a crush on since they were at the Academy together. She was hoping she would get this internship so she wouldn’t get assigned to the Hell Fae or Shifter Fae. She was afraid of animals after being attacked once.

The Heroes: Kalt, Lark, Norden - Kalt is an elemental Fae and a Water Fae Prince, Lark is a royal Elf and Norden is a Selkie. The Winter Fae mate in groups of four, a triad of males and a female. Prince Lark has found two of his mates, yet the Water Fae Prince has denied the bond. So Lark sent out some Winter Fae Magic to lure potential mates to the North Pole in order for him to become the Winter Fae King. Kalt is a gruff and grumpy guy who is very attracted to Artica, though she is now his intern so he knows he can’t do anything about it.

The Story: Lark was created as a Winter Fae, meaning he possesses pure Christmas magic and his father is the King, so he would take his fathers place soon. Lark is convinced that Kalt belongs in his triad, but Kalt absolutely denies that, since he will have to give up his place as a Water Fae Royal, though he is nephew to the king, so not in line to be crowned.

This story was great. I loved the Winter Fae World, it was fun and whimsical. There was mistletoe, deserts for breakfast, lunch and dinner, sweets with enchantments, elves and everything good and fun about Christmas. Add in a palace, the Winter Fae Court and an upcoming coronation, what more could you want? Oh and did I mention the steamy scenes? They were HOT! And there weren’t too many of them.

The story was told in multiple points of view via duet narration with a bunch of great narrators. Zachary Johnson, Vanessa Moyen, Gregory Salinas and Kale Williams did the narration and all of them do a great job. Gregory Salinas and Kale Williams are two of my newer favorite male narrators and Vanessa Moyen did a terrific job, especially when Artica ate a candy cane with a singing enchantment and started to sing everything she said. There was lots of dirty talk. Artica was in love with her men’s creamsicles and they liked her candy center just as much. It was terrific.

3 Was Expecting More Stars!

Artica is a Water Fae and has applied for a position to be an Interrealm Fae intern on a dare...never thinking that she would actually land the job and be packing her bags to go to the North Pole. Her superior ends up being Kalt, the Royal Water Fae who Artica has been crushing on since he was a student at the Academy. When Artica sees him again that school girl comes barreling back and it's even harder to ignore her attraction to Kalt.

When Artica arrives in the Winter Far Realm, she realizes that she has also been selected as being the potential mate to the Winter Fae Triad. The triad is Prince (soon to be king) Lark, Norden the Selkie and Kalt who is completely resistant to being a part of the mate group. Lark and Norden set out to woo Artica and make her a part of their group while Kalt pushes all of them away. But it's soon evident that they may be stronger together rather than apart and when everything starts to fall apart hearts and loyalties are tested. Will Artica, Lark, Norden and Kalt be able to come together in time to save their mate group and their realm?

First off I want to say that some of the dialogue from Artica was immature and childish and I wanted her to make these sexy men work for her love and body WAY harder. I also wanted her to be more badass and powerful. Secondly, I was unprepared for the way this mate group worked. I wasn't expecting full MM action (which I'm totally not mad about...I love MM) so that confused me a little. Lark and Norden have known each other for a long time, have been together plenty and already know they're mates. I felt a much stronger connection between the two of them than when they were with Artica and Kalt. However, I can say the same for Artica and Kalt...the two of them seemed to have a much stronger connection. So ultimately, I'm not sure the whole mate group worked for me because I felt like they were disjointed. Finally, I think the authors meant to have Artica as the missing piece of their puzzle and she just wasn't. It was like "hey we need a female...just throw her in there." The story was well written and I liked the idea but there was something that just didn't work for me with these characters and the culmination of all the events.

4.3 stars.
This was hot and sensual.
I really liked the playful attitude that Artica has most of the time. And it’s just heightened when she’s in the North Pole.

The plot was relatively simple. Most just centered around the 4 of them coming together. I did really enjoy the little bit of conflict that happened at the end, too. It added just the right amount of drama to the story to keep everything growing.
The relationships between characters was a little rocky. The Winter Fae are reliant on belief quite a bit and because of that, the relationships are built on belief too. Which is fine, and even though I pretty cute. But it doesn’t really allow for much growth and connection beyond the physical and ‘spiritual’. The mental connection sort of lacking.

Still. The sex was pretty hot.
It was all mostly sensual and a tiny bit vague once it started happening. Not detailed enough for my personal tastes. And I was sort of hoping we’d get some sort of group scenes where it’s not just a pile of them, but they’re focused mostly on Artica. I mean, whatever, it’s just that they talked about it a few times and then it just never happened on page.

Anyway.
I liked it.
It was sweet and playful and the whole story was super light.
I had a good time, and I’m glad I picked it up.

What a fun read this was! The choice of words throughout the book was perfect and hilarious. Even though it’s a standalone, the story still had so much depth and character growth from end to beginning. I liked the characters a lot, and wouldn’t have minded if it were to be a series instead of a standalone. This book really did give me all the Christmas vibes and that I really liked!

Winter Fae Queen👑

Artica is determined to go to the Winter Fae Realm as an intern to help with Interrealm Fae efforts🍭 Her trip, however, takes a turn when it becomes clear that aside from being an intern with the Fae of her dreams, Kalt, she also has the potential to join the Winter Fae Triad which consists of a sexy and mischievous Selkie, Norden and the Winter Fae Prince, Lark - who is soon to become King🤴Oh and Kalt, if he can make up his mind about the Triad and joining😳

I really enjoyed Norden and his mischievous antics, they really lightened up the book and gave it more of a holiday feel but the other characters also made this an enjoyable faelicious steamy sometimes frosty experience😍 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

I don't know honestly, i couldn't get past the second chapter. I understand marketing a book/series through another book, but the constant mention of Elemental Fae Academy and Fortune fae Academy just turned me off. It almost felt like an insistent push to leave the book and start reading the serieses mentioned. Also a lot of inner monologue is so not my scene. Some information dump too early in the book.

Five quirky, super spicy, holiday laced stars for this fantastic why choose standalone fantasy romance!

We go from Artica hoping for an internship assignment at the North Pole, to help improve inter-fae relations, under her crush, Elemental Water Fae Prince Kalt, which the fates easily deliver. However, this internship is not at all what she was expecting. Yes, it all holiday magic and cheer, but she also learns she is being possibly courted as the female member of the soon to be King of the Winter Fae’s mate circle. Artica’s bubbly and joyful disposition seems to be the perfect fit for a realm that is the entire basis for the Christmas holiday on Earth. Not to mention, the future king is also trying to bring Kalt into his mate circle, even though Kalt is adamantly against it. But he does believe in the future king, and the Winter realm and all that it does, and he believes that Artica would be a perfect fit as well.

And that’s really the heart of this story. Belief. Everything in the Winter Fae realm is centered on belief. Even the mate circle, which solidifies when all parties fully believe in their union and choose to mate with each other. The mate circles consist of three males and one female. And for the future king, Lark, he already has one piece of his circle firmly in place. The very sexy, and sensual selkie, Norden. And I’m pretty sure Norden is my favorite character in this entire book. He’s able to turn pretty much any situation dirty with zero effort, and is pretty much impossible not to fall in love with, given his loving, sweet, and generous personality. And even though Kalt is fighting his draw to the mate circle, Artica is immediately intrigued, especially by Norden. As things progress towards the coronation ceremony, the chemistry between all of them builds, and magic starts going haywire, causing all kinds of chaos.

As I mentioned at the beginning, this is a very quirky story. And while Artica is a pretty pure, innocent type, she’s also no pushover. She has true moments of strength that show through, but she’s also a very sweet soul, and the perfect embodiment of the holiday spirit. Every time Norden shows up, things are sure to get hilariously out of hand, with innuendos flying in every direction, and I loved every second. And even Lark, who initially comes across as pretty rigid and set, turns out to be a pretty great, gooey centered character as well. The biggest hold out is Kalt, who is dealing with some baggage from his past that is preventing him from embracing this possible destiny in the Winter Fae realm, and ultimately he has to confront not only his past, but his very strong connection with Artica, Norden, and Lark.

This is a fun, wildly entertaining why choose love story. I found myself smiling and laughing out loud during many points of the book, and frankly, I’m a little sad that it’s only one standalone story, because I loved these characters so much. But it has a great HEA, not to mention the absolutely fantastic spice! The audiobook is incredible, as well. Top notch narrators who pull the absolute heart and soul of the characters off the pages with ease and make the story even more enjoyable as a result. You’re not going to go wrong even a little bit if you choose the audiobook route with this book. In fact, I highly recommend it!

Artica has just won an internship to the North Pole. She only applied as a dare, but she’s been in love with Prince Kalt for years and wanted to be near him. He’s now her new boss and he thinks absolutely nothing can happen between them. However when she gets there she meets King Lark and his mate Prince Norden and immediately is attracted them to them both. Can Lark, Norden and Artica change Kalts mind?

I forgot how much I love this world of Fae Lexi and J.R. have created. Not sure why I waited so long from the release date to finally dive into this book. I suppose it's time to catch up on the rest of them. Definitely recommend these!

3.75 ✨ I think 🤔

Oh, yeahhhh, I love Kale Williams’ voice 😍.

Wasn’t really vibing with the guys’ relationships with each other though. They just didn’t seem quite right together for some reason. Kalt didn’t seem like the type of guy to like the other two in the triad and they never seemed to really feel strongly bonded to each other… then again, maybe I was just a bit jealous 😆

I absolutely loved Candelaand all of the Fae Academy worlds—whether,Elemental Fae Academy,Fortune Fae Academy: Book One,Midnight Fae Academy: Book One, orHell Fae Captive—all of these worlds are amazing. So obviously I knew I was going to love this one before I ever opened it.

I definitely laughed out loud … a bunch. From the beginning when a professor mentioned ‘knotting’ in passing (when discussing the Fortune Fae, of course), (IYKYK) and others throughout.

Foss & Thorn are completely brilliant, having thought of every little detail, like always and this world completely comes alive as a result. The food the different types of fae eat, their slang, every detail is themed to suit their respective kind. If you want to escape, I highly suggest this or anything else set in this world for a totally immersive experience.

But also, it’s just adorable. This is such a sweet read—I always love anything to do with Elemental Fae because they truly appreciate and value all life forms, not just humanoid ones … it gives me hope for the human race (where I normally have little to none these days).

Absolutely perfect to read during the winter, or Christmastime if you’re wanting those sort of vibes, as it’s set in the North Pole and is utterly magical—though, I’d read this absolutely any time. And if you’re already obsessed with the Elemental Fae realm like I am, it’s fun because there are appearances from other familiar characters.

5 stars.

Formatting: this is one of the most gorgeous ebooks I’ve ever seen.
Audio: This is narrated by an all-star cast, and an absolutely perfect performance. 5-stars on this front, all around.

A very enjoyable read

I do love this universe of characters that Ms. Foss has created (along with J.R. Thorne), so I was happy to start this adventure with a few new characters. I wasn't disappointed. It's definitely not a dark, sordid tale. But that doesn't mean there aren't some steamy scenes, because there are. They just take place mostly in the second half of the book. But I don't mind a slow burn.

This is a new fae realm that I don't recall reading much about in any of the previous books I've read in this universe. The Winter Fae realm. Yes, it may be a cliche that it is in the North Pole and many of its customs are Christmas related. But since I love that holiday so much, I didn't mind all the festive references.

We learn about the mate bonds in this new realm. They have "mating circles," consisting of 3 males and a female. They don't have "levels" like the other realms do, as much of this realm is based on "belief." Sure, some of it was corny as hell, but I still enjoyed reading it very much. It does help that if you look this book up on Amazon, scroll down like you're going to look at the reviews, and there is an artist's rendering of the 3 MMC and they are all yummy, particularly Norden. So it was very nice to have a reference in my head of these guys as I was reading.

One of my favorite things about this book is that we are reacquainted with some characters from the Elemental Fae Academy and the series. I always love a bit of crossover so that was a plus in my opinion.

It is a RH (with some "sword crossing," so if that's not your thing, be warned) and does not end on a cliff hanger. I love a HEA, but they do kind of leave an opening there for something down the road. Maybe not with this group of characters, but perhaps their offspring? Anyway, if you read and loved EFA and MFA, you will like this book. I have no doubt that a "Interrealm Fae Academy" series will be released at some point in the future, and I can't wait!!

Not rating it because I don’t think I am the right audience for this book. I thought that since this book was a standalone, it would have been more friendly to newcomers. I was wrong.

I guess it technically is, since I followed the main characters’ lives just fine. But there are so many secondary characters’ names and described, all clearly from their own series, that the story feels bogged down in names and royal titles alone. Maybe if I was in any way familiar with them I would feel otherwise, but since I’m not, it all just made me exhausted.

The writing didn’t help, since it felt far too repetitive and needlessly long, as well as mired in worthless minutiae like descriptions of outfits, or facts like the heroine’s particular race of fae’s favorite hairstyle. I’m sorry, but I just don’t care about the sweater color she had on, or the post-braid texture of her hair. Remove that and halve the amount of times ‘sensuous’ is used for the Selkie and you easily remove around 15 minutes of narration without affecting the story in any way whatsoever.

Narration was great, but that is to be expected given the talent hired for this. And honestly, shout out to Moyen for her singing bits.

As for me, I am not likely to be checking out any more books in this universe anytime soon. It’s not entirely due to lack of interest – I am mainly overwhelmed by how expansive it is. This is clearly meant to be read on a specific order rather than jumping into whichever series catches my eye, and that requires an amount of dedication I’m not sure I have for something that, in the 11 hours I listened to it, failed to impress at any level beyond the narration. And that’s thanks to outside talents, unrelated to the authors.

Belief is "trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something."
This is something that Artica and Kalt especially had to learn, as well as Norden, and Lark. This story was amazing! So fun, full of life, love, heat, and lessons. What an inspiring tale of trusting and following your heart and soul as they know the correct path. I absolutely loved these characters and their personalities. Artica is so happy, trusting, loving and just a beautiful character. Norden is a hilarious, sex obsessed selkie with a heart of gold. I love his sense of humour and his innuendos! He is definitely one of my favourite characters. Kalt and Lark are similar in some ways but I admire Larks dedication and belief in everything from the start. Kalts thoughtfulness, consideration of sacrifice for the concern for everyone is admirable. I honestly can't explain the extent of how much I love this book and all of its characters. Lots of heat too!
It was wonderful to get a glimpse of how some of my other favourites from Elemental Fae and Midnight Fae Academy are doing as well. I look forward to more amazing stories form these two talented authors Thank you both! I highly recommend reading this book yourself. You wont regret it.

I went looking for some paranormal spicy holiday reading and since I’ve enjoyed Lexi Foss’s books before, I was pleased to find this one. Once I started reading, I was hooked immediately, both on the characters, and the world that was being built. Already there was sexual tension, and even some humor. Which I love:
““I haaaate si-nging,” I ironically sang.”

There was also some political intrigue that created a bit of a mystery I wanted to see solved. Most of all, I loved all the holiday atmosphere, the mention of everything Christmas such as baubles, candy canes, candles, arctic animals, baked goods, snowflakes, ice skating, gifts, snow, music, festivities that melded perfectly with the very well done intimate spice. The intimacy was so effectively written, it was almost poetic: “And then he began to move slowly, reminding me of a low tide shallowly caressing the shore.” My favorite scene was the hair brushing right after ice skating and a picnic dinner. Very sensual. I liked that the characters used fae words for profanity, except for an occasional EF word. Of course I had to drink hot cocoa (made with a Velvitizer for different flavors) while reading, and listen to lovely Christmas music. What a fun read to kick off my holiday reading!

Winter Fae Queen is the perfect short and sweet must read this holiday season! As usual, Lexi C. Foss and J.R. Thorn have done it again, bringing life to characters that you instantly fall in love with and a magical story that captures your heart.

Artica is truly such a lovable character you can’t help but fall in love with her charm and her demeanor. She’s sweet, adorable, full of joy, humor and her take on life is perfection!!! I loved how happy and consistent she was as a character and loved her interactions with the rest of her mate circle: Norden, Lark and Kalt. Each of her men have their own attractions but together they’re the absolute best!

Overall this is a definite must read and the perfect holiday read as it has all the makings of an amazing story! This world is so magical I love revisiting it as often as possible and it’s always a bonus to see old and new friends alike. If you’re a fan of sweet connections with a holiday flair and RH stories packed with amazing side characters this book is for you! So full of Christmas cheer and joy it’s the perfect winter wonderland escape—so grab it for yourself now!

This is actually the first book I've read by either author, though I've had my eye on both for a while. I am thrilled that I decided to dive in with this book, but am honestly quite intimidated by both their backlists! But, I love their writing style and the universe that this book and apparently a number of other series exist in, so I will just find a way to afford all those books because these authors produce nothing but must-reads! (I knew this even before reading the book, but now it's confirmed!)

As for this book specifically, Norden was obviously my favorite, that funny, sexy, flirty selkie! Perfectly balanced with Kalt's stubbornness and Lark's kingly demeanor. There were quite a few funny parts, and even some parts that had me hanging on the edge, very concerned for our characters. Absolutely brilliant writing that was an easy comfort to dive into. Every moment away from this book was a struggle and my thoughts turned back to it constantly.

Highly recommend, whether you normally read holiday books or not (I don't), and whether or not you've read anything by either author before.

4.5/5⭐️ This was such a sweet story with so many elements added from the other interconnected series, and I loved it!

Artica is a character you adore immediately. She is such a free spirit with so much love and hope that it is contagious. Kalt is so stubborn but quickly learns a very tough lesson on following his heart. I do wish he had to grovel a bit more but I understand under the circumstances that wasn’t necessarily possible. Norden, DAMN, he knows all the right things to say and has you laughing constantly. I absolutely loved his character so much. And finally, Lark, he grew so much and always had the right idea in mind, even if he didn’t always execute it the best. At first, he didn’t make the best impression but he goes on to be such a heartfelt character.

I really did enjoy this book! There were so many elements that just left you wanting for more.

There were a few reasons it didn’t get 5⭐️, mainly a few little mistakes, like how she was laying down but was suddenly standing, or the wrong person put as the one speaking. Very small and easy to overlook.

I am looking forward to reading the Hell Fae series, because the addition of that prophecy had me so excited!

Artica is a water fae with an affinity for ice who is selected as an intern to the Winter Court, which also happens to run the North Pole and Christmas Town. Lark, the Winter Prince, needs to establish his triad (3 males with 1 female) and complete a mating bond before his coronation, and it is very clear early on where this story is heading.

The writing style is overly sweet, cutesy, and heavily sexualized in a way that never quite clicked for me. The world feels like Candyland meets spicy fantasy, complete with sugar plum aesthetics and even characters swearing with words like fudge. It is cute and engaging at times, but it often felt like a children’s story mixed with adult content, which made the tone feel off.

By the final stretch, the pacing became strange. When I thought the story should be wrapping up, there was still a lot left, and I found myself skimming just to reach the end. I enjoyed parts of it, but overall it was a little too campy for my taste and I am undecided about continuing the series.

The Winter Fae Queen

“Belief is a unique sensation……….It comes from the heart and soul, not our minds. It’s what provides influence to thought. Belief tells us what to see, how to feel and how to react. You can’t force it.”

Oh where do I start with this little festive steamy morsel of goodness? As with all of Lexi’s books, they are always so much more than I anticipate. She does such a wonderful job world building which allows me to visualize these wonderlands as if I am watching my own private film in my head.

I am new to Lexi and JR’s Fae world and I can honestly say that I wish I knew what I was missing all this time. I couldn’t help but fall in love with this mate circle, the love and respect that these characters have for each other is unsurpassable. I hope to get glimpses of them again in future writings! So in the meantime, I need to get busy on Elemental Fae Academy series!Happy Reading!

This was a fantastic read!!

I’m part of Lexi’s author group of fb and have been anxiously awaiting this drop from her and J R Thorn. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Elemental and Midnight Fae worlds so it was good to be back again. I use books as a way to escape the world and this book did that.

It was fun to see another part of the Fae universe and cute to see it in a holiday style. The idea of only eating sweets all year, even though they give you all the nutritional value you need, is definitely an odd one! I loved the thought of the candy canes that have fun features to them though!

The style of love story was one of my favourites. I’m a sucker for a trope where one member of the harem is refusing to accept it and potentially doing more damage. This was so up my street but the redemption arc was so so worth it!!

This was such a fun, easy read and I’d highly recommend it! Especially to readers who love sweet fae romances!

This winter fae stand-alone was absolutely adorable.
Foss and Thorn took Christmas cheer and winter wonderland and twisted it into an adorable winter fae reverse harem.

I loved Artica and her representation of Christmas cheer and joy. Sweet and flirty Norden made me smile as much as the characters in this book. Our lost Kalt made me want to hug and maybe slap him a little. King lark - our true alpha male of the story was the perfect balance of alpha and sweet.

For a standalone these authors found a great balance between plot, steam, and overall character development that left me content. If I had one complaint it would be that I’d like a little more detail on certain side characters , but that’s my preference since I haven’t read the other books written in this universe.

If you are looking for a sugary sweet standalone with an adorable mate circle, penguins, and Christmas joy this book is for you.

You and me both girl, the three men were hot AF 🥵 If you’re into MM there’s a lot of it in this book

I wish u lived in this world. I want to wake up in a bed that feels like you’re waking up to Christmas every morning. Sweets for meals? Snow? Magic, constant laughter and joy? TAKE ME THERE PLEASE it’s a winter wonderland

While I loved the setting, I would’ve love to see more conversations and dates between them all. I felt like I didn’t know the men well and it was a instalove/instalust story - which I have no issue with at all + it makes sense with a fated mates story. I just would’ve love to see their relationship develop further past the insta stuff.

I would recommend because it’s still a fun and solid read!

A wonderful tale for a wonderful time of year

I loved this book it was a brilliant Christmas story released at the best time of year. There's something for everyone to enjoy. Africa with her belief and a love of festivus (Christmas to us humans) Norden the gorgeous selkie with a funny but filthy mind, Lark the winter far Prince who would and does make sure that his mates have what's in their hearts and finally the water elemental far stubborn Prince that Africa has had a crush on since she laid eyes on him. I adored the magical candy canes such a shame they can only exist in this funny but filthy story full of love and magic. Definitely a seasonal theme but if read it again and again. Christmas comes but once a year I'm so glad I'm not Christmas!!!

Lexi C. Foss and J.R. Thorn have done it again! Every time they dive back into this universe, it feels like coming home to pure magic. I adore how seamlessly they weave in familiar faces from their other series—it makes the world feel so alive and interconnected. Winter Fae Queen sparkles with humor, heart, and plenty of heat. Artica’s warmth and optimism are absolutely infectious, and I loved how Norden and Lark immediately recognized that she was meant to be part of their story. Kalt’s journey tugged at my heart—his intentions were good, even if his path was a little off course. The ending wrapped everything up beautifully and left me smiling. The perfect cozy fantasy to curl up with this season!
