The Smuggler’s Christmas Rose – Jane Charles
Miss Sheena MacGregor had loved Camdyn Oaks, Earl of Irvine, once upon a time. When she found out it was all a ploy, his betrayal cut deep. Never would she be such a fool again. Camdyn Oaks had set out to charm secrets out of Miss Sheena MacGregor. Instead, she captivated him and stole his heart. Before Camdyn could explain, confess the truth, and beg for forgiveness, she walked away and refused to ever speak to him again. Now with Christmas drawing near, Sheena is stuck on the English side of the border and forced to seek shelter in his home. Camdyn is determined to win her heart once again but fears that it may be lost to him forever.
An absolutely delightful second chance romance Camden & Sheena are perfect for each other but he’s got his work cut out to win her back

Holly, Mistletoe & Christmas Snow – Collette Cameron
Althelia Westbrook is no longer a wallflower & is now a woman who knows what she wants & she wants Owen Lockington, her brother’s best friend, but more importantly she wants Owen to want her.
A charming romance with a couple in love with each other but both have their insecurities. I loved their journey to a HEA

Christmas for Two – Nadine Millard
Lady Adeline Stanley is travelling to Cumberland for Christmas. It’s a family tradition that they spend it with Aunt Leonora at Briarcastle. Nearing her destination a snow storm occurs & Adeline’s coach skids & she’s injured. Henry Gladstone has travelled from the West Indies after receiving a surprising letter & is staying at a country inn. Whilst in the stables he hears horses screaming & rushes to help, he finds Adeline injured & hastens back to the inn with her.
I loved this novella of close proximity & two delightful people who were Just Henry & Addy, they fell in love but once the weather cleared secrets would be revealed, which would threaten their future

This review is for Emily Windsor’s A Governess Should Never… Kiss at Christmastide

I’ve been swooning over Windsor’s romances for a while now, and I’m happy to say I adored Charlotte and Marcus and their beautiful romance. Childhood friends, they haven’t seen each other in years, but when they finally do, there are definitely old feelings still there. They have amazing chemistry and banter, and their time together as they both try to win a bet between them is fantastic.

Marcus has changed a lot since Charlotte last saw him. No longer the carefree boy she played with, Marcus is curmudgeonly and seems to only care about filling his coffers. Total Scrooge vibes! However, as Charlotte begins to work for him and convince him of the importance of remaining with his ward (who is fantastic!) over the holidays, she begins to see past that seemingly greedy persona. She finds out what drives Marcus, and it changes her perceptions.

Charlotte has an equally difficult time of it. She’s barely keeping a roof over her and her uncle’s heads, and she’s in desperate need of a job, which is why she works as a governess for his ward. Marcus and Charlotte have both been through so much, which only adds to their clear chemistry and connection.

I loved this story! It’s quick and fun and romantic, the characters are compelling, and the banter is fantastic. Plus, there’s a great cameo from a famous poet and some fun Dickens inspiration.

Though I’ve only read the one story so far, I’m excited to read the rest of the book; there are so many amazing historical romance authors contributing, and if they’re anything like Windsor’s Christmas Carol-inspired story, I know I’ll be in for a treat.

Leonidas Westbrook invites his oldest friend, Owen Lockington, to a Christmas house party. Althelia is attracted to Owen. A big man, he is gentle and kind, especially to horses, dogs and her. Is it any wonder he's stolen her heart! Owen never expected to meet the love of his life, but will her family accept him to be worthy? Look for the Westbrooks in other books/anthologies finding their happily ever after. A unique way to continue the series.

The Smugglers Christmas Rogue
Miss Sheena MacGregor fell in love with Camdyn Oakes her first season. Unfortunately their families are enemies and stop any possibility of marriage with a half truth. A year and a half later, Camdyn is now the Marquess of Walsingham. With the help of her family, he will do whatever it takes to win her back. A second chance at Christmas.
(Tammy Andresen)
A Christmas Blessing
After three years of marriage, Emily and Ace have yet to have a child. After raising six siblings, he isn't sure he really wants children. Emily longs for a child and feels like she's not fulfilling her role as a wife of a marquess. Christmas is a time of miracles and hope, hope for a child.

This is just the sort of poignant second chance story that is perfect for a novella. Any longer and the couple’s previous separation would’ve made the story seem too sad, so the length here was perfect. Simon may have arrived at the home of Gwen’s brother, conveniently during a house party, for other reasons, but it was soon clear he wouldn’t be leaving without Gwen. There was enough mystery and suspense here to keep the story moving along apace and I loved the open communication between Simon and Gwen. After being torn apart by the machinations of others, I loved seeing these two get their well-deserved HEA together and the setting definitely put me in a festive mood as we move into the Christmas season.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to Emily Windsor who provided me with the ARC of her short story “A Governess Should Never… Kiss at Christmastide,” which is part of the upcoming collection “Christmas in Cumbria,” which releases November 6th! (I am only reviewing this story in the collection).

I say it every time I read one of her books but Windsor’s prose to me is utterly enchanting. I always end up wanting to sink into these beautifully heartfelt love stories.

You’d think being fewer than 100 pages, it might be difficult to pack a love story with, as Cat Sebastian says, “nuclear-grade pining,” as well as humor, anguish, well-rounded characters (all of whom I adored and want stories about – Dinah, Mr. Slater, Uncle Marmaduke), wonderfully descriptive scenery, and more – but Windsor does it!

And, this is a new Sam reading Emily Windsor record – I cried four times. Four times in fewer than 100 pages! I think that might be a new record for any piece of fiction I’ve read…

Anyway – I really think the word that best encapsulates Windsor’s story, while sometimes overused in our collective vocabularies, this short story is the embodiment of its meaning : beautiful.

I will only be reviewing two stories.

The Smuggler's Christmas Rogue by Jane Charle

This is an enjoyable story from beginning to end. And the thing I liked about this story is yes it has a Christmas feel to it but not overwhelming.

This story has so much to offer, from laughter to tears to happily ever after.

And a Scottish wedding!

I can't say enough about this story.

I received this book from the author as an advanced copy in exchange for a voluntary review and this is purely based upon my own opinion and that of no one else.

Mine this Winter by Adele Clee

This story has everything that you can ask for. Especially when its from Adele.

It was so good

They were separated for five years but they both thought it was for different reasons. He thought it was because she didn't want him because he was a penniless Lord. And she thought it was because he just simply toyed with her emotions.

However after five years they are back in each others company at a house party because he is working for a spy and the truth comes out that they were lied to by their own family members.

While they work together to figure out who the traitor is, they both find that they never stopped desiring and loving each other despite how much they've both changed. They need each other as much as they need their next breath.

I definitely enjoyed this story from Adele.

Mine This Winter.
Adele Clee

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋

A slightly steamy, very tense and beautifully written, short story from Adele.

Set on the Coast and following the relationship between a spy for the British government, and his lost love.

Simon and Gwen have loved each other for years, but when he received a letter from her saying she no longer wanted him, he leaves for the continent and becomes a spy.
On his return some five years later, they meet again, maybe a second chance is worth waiting for.

Tense, angsty and sweetly steamy romance that has all the feels and warmth, even set in the depths of winter.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

A Lively Story!
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of Mine this Winter by Adele Clee which was published in Christmas in Cumbria and am happy to leave my voluntary review.
The story is a short but well written and engaging one with interesting characters who kept the story a source of good entertainment. It has a second chance with characters who kept interfering with the possibility of a happy ever after for the two main characters, Gwen and Simon, who needed to uncover the source of a mystery which was plaguing their happiness.
Just who was the villain and what was the reason for all the intrigue?
I enjoyed this story and am happy to recommend it.

This is a review for The Smuggler's Christmas Rose, by Jane Charles.
This was such a wonderful story of love and forgiveness. The interaction between the main characters had some interesting moments and there were some interesting secondary characters.

This is a review for Holly Mistletoe and Christmas Snow, by Collette Cameron.
This was a cute, entertaining story about Althelia and her brother's friend from school, Owen Lockington, who was invited for Christmas. Althelia and Own have feelings for each other pretty fast, however, he is looking for her family to invest in his mine. It is a cute feel-good story and a continuation of the Westbrook series.

A close look at 4 of the 13 captivating, festive, romances!
The sweet allure of love at first sight slips into the seductive promise of three second chance at love romances. Where heady passionate love has been ripped away...and crackles with the power of forgiveness and renewed hope as misunderstandings are finally brought into the light. Marking the following four, well written entries in CHRISTMAS IN CUMBRIA, the perfect escapism.

HOLLY, MISTLETOE, and MIDNIGHT SNOW by Collette Cameron:
This was a lovely, love at first sight romance that comfortably fits into the Westbrook series and quietly glows with an endearing sweetness. An array of stolen moments that thrum with chemistry, intimate banter, instanteous attraction and building admiration that blooms between kindred spirits, Owen and Althelia, and sparkles with an empathetic connection that so effortlessly had me captured in the moment of their budding romance.
Out of his element, Owen, invited to spend a family Christmas with his oldest and dearest friend, Leonidas, falls quickly and irredeemably for his spirited sister, Althelia. Who so instantly has him reassessing his life's plan as she maybe the only lady not intimidated by his large, guarded, but oh so deliciously heartfluttering presence and sizzling kisses. As curiosity, building fascination and magnetic draw is anything but one sided. Will his scandalous origins be the detrimental hurdle he expects it will be? Or will Christmas bring him the miracle of love?

THE SMUGGLER'S CHRISTMAS ROGUE by Jane Charles (part of the Scot to the Heart series)
Boiling from the bitter sting of revenge, duplicity and regret comes this sweet tale of forgiveness and hard to forget love, intensified by the enticing promise of hope that Christmas brings.
Faced with an impenetrable wall, encased in humiliation, anger and betrayal, and reinforced by the steel clad stubborness, Sheena wields to shield from the crippling pain of heartbreak...can Camdyn win back the trust of the only woman he will ever love?
A sweet rekindling of love thought lost, but never dimmed, slowly blooms into life. As Charles crafts this engaging mexican standoff style, confrontation of raw emotion and hard to resist connection that simmers between them. Tempting sparks to fly as much as witty banter and the fear of rejection crushes hope. Can close proximity give him the chance to finally explain and reveal his heart's desire?
A romance that hooks you in with likeable characters, the cooling of temper, the reseeding of trust, crumbling of walls and the reopening of hearts to reveal the depth of an all consuming love, that just can't be denied or forgotten.

MINE THIS WINTER by Adele Clee
Spies, lies, treachery and fiery passion...fuels this well polished, I can't believe it's just a novella, mystery infused romance.
You can feel the connection, the crackle of charged sexual tension that blazes in their eyes and the hurt fueled words that permeate the air around them. Revealing a mystery that soaks the atmosphere in one of treachery past and present.
The hurt, piercing anger and confusion, festering from last meet, radiates from Gwendolyn and Simon, coupled with the love they so obviously don't want to feel, but refuses to be extinguished. Fanning the captivating flames of temptation that burns hot whenever the other is near.
That makes the array of misunderstandings so heartbreaking, as Simon, smarting from the sting of rejection, is forced into a reunion with Gwendolyn, five years after their passionate affair was abruptly cut short, to hunt out a treasonous spy for the King.
But as hope stirs and misunderstandings unravel a clarity to breed painful suspicions, will manipulative games, wielded by scheming puppeteering strings, intensify the seeds of deadly provocation? Or, will love be strong enough to overcome all obstacles?
A really captivating, gets under your skin, mystery lead romance, that's so sensually statisfying and steamy...these two become addictive!

SNOWY SNOWY NIGHT by Emily Royal
The bitter sting of regret, rejection and deception thrums fresh, but can a second chance, bring a new perspective to these once so enamoured of lovers?
Superior arrogance intensified by the indulgence of position, rank and birth, three years ago, skewed intentions and forced Barrett to reject Emilia, the only woman he is ever likely to love. But can a, body numbing, blizzard reawaken love and be enough to tempt forgiveness? Once and for all proving that the nature of a person's worth never has been reflected by their birth or class.
The blend of crushing sass and bravado laced with a resounding inner turmoil and pain meets a tender, teasingly seductive pining that can't be denied and really feeds into who these two are as people. The heady shock of need, rippled with a prickling desire and an 'if only, what if' yearning tension, that charges the air around them, and really pulls you in. Persuades you to forgive Barrett's inherited judgemental arrogance and had me cheering on his changing 'pompous ass' views as he comes to see just how much he has to prove.
I just loved the fact that ruination ironically sparked a happiness in Emilia and a drive for a simpler more rewarding purpose found in her roots. One far removed from the glamour and scathing society of the 'ton'. Her humble circumstances brought such pride, heady satisfaction of self made achievement, born of a need to survive, that truly shows what he gave up, lost and so desperately craved to win back.

Marking all 4 as wonderful, in the moment, novellas that even now conjure up such colourful imagery of sweet heart pounding and spicy flush inducing romance.
Where I have already preordered my copy and looking forward to escaping into the remaining festive treats on display, within this promising anthology, by so many of my favorite authors!

Let the Spirit of Christmas sweep you away! Christmas in Cumbria features THIRTEEN STORIES of love and romance from your favorite authors…

Let these glorious stories full of Christmas magic and true love—with more than a hint of steam— sweep you away to a time gone by. Indulge yourself free of guilt with this collection from USA Today and Amazon bestselling authors.

In my opinion, this collection is worth buying, not only is the price amazing, but even if you only read one or two of the selections included in the anthology you will be delighted and know that it was money well spent. I was lucky enough to receive ARCs from two of my favorite authors and would buy the book just for either one of their stories!

The Smuggler’s Christmas Rogue by Jane Charles, 4.5 stars - During her first season, Miss Sheena MacGregor met and fell in love with Camdyn Oaks, Earl of Irvine and heir to the Marquess Walsingham. She believed that he loved her too, but on the night he begs her to elope with him, her brothers and uncle arrive from Scotland as well as Camdyn’s father, and the ugly truth of how they met is revealed and just like that Sheena’s heart is broken. She immediately returns to Scotland determined to forget she ever laid eyes on Camdyn. But fate has other plans and a year and a half later, Sheena and her brother Ewan find themselves in need of shelter for the night and must to her dismay, end up at Oakley Park, the home of the Marquess Walsingham.

Camdyn Oaks, now Marquess Walsingham, is still in love with Sheena, though he tries to move on, he soon realizes that she is the only woman for him and sets out to win her back. Her family stands by her refusal to see him or even speak of him, but her uncle finally listens to Camdyn’s side and agrees to help him by letting him know when they go to Edinburgh and what events they will attend, but he will not force Sheena to talk to him. Happy for the chance to see her again, Camdyn returns to his estate to wait for word, but a few days before Christmas, Sheena and her brother arrive on his doorstep seeking shelter. Overjoyed by the unexpected opportunity to reconcile with Sheena, Camdyn welcomes them with open arms. But it is clear that Sheena wants nothing to do with him and plans to leave the next morning. But when help for his cause comes from an unlikely source, Camdyn will not waste a second of the limited time he has, because he knows that Sheena is his only chance for happily ever again and he won’t let her slip away a second time without a fight.

The was a very sweet second chance for romance between feuding families. Sheena was hurt deeply and unwilling to give Camdyn a chance to explain himself and refused to believe his claims of love, I understood her bitterness, but I felt that she held on to that bitterness a bit longer than necessary. Other than that small quibble, I really enjoyed this story and would happily recommend this novella. This story is included in the Christmas in Cumbria anthology and is part of the Scot to the Heart series with a connection to the Trents.

A Governess Should Never... Kiss at Christmastide, Emily Windsor, 5 stars -Once upon a time, Miss Charlotte Webster fell in love with her childhood friend Marcus Scarcliffe, the Duke of Shawdale, and when they danced together at the Christmas ball, she believed that he might return her feelings. But shortly thereafter, Marcus left for London and when he returned he was a changed man, gone was the kind, happy boy, and along with him any hope of a happily ever after. Things went downhill from there, with the death of her father and the realization that she was penniless, but still had to care for her ailing uncle and her childhood home. Working as a governess, she barely keeps her head above water and when she learns that Marcus is in need of a governess for his ward, she jumps at the chance to be close to her home and if she is honest, to him. But when she learns that he doesn’t plan to be home for Christmas, she issues a challenge to him, if he still wants to go on his business trip after attending three Christmastide events with her, she will work for free until he finds a finishing school for Dinah, but if she wins he will employ her until Dinah’s debut and pay to fix her roof. It is a bet she plans to win!

Unbeknownst to Charlotte there is a very good reason for the drastic change in Marcus, but even he can’t deny the feelings that seeing Charlotte again stirs in him. So against his better judgment, he accepts her challenge, fully intending to win. But somewhere between dancing at a Christmas ball, a winter wedding, long walks in the countryside, a very unpleasant dinner party, and some sage advice from a stranger, Marcus realizes that life is short and that love is more important than making money. But will Charlotte still have him when she learns the truth or will his past cost him the love of his life?

OMG, I loved this story and although it is a novella, it is a full story, never feeling rushed or skimpy. Written as a loose retelling of Dicken’s Christmas Carol, this story is a lovely second-chance, friends-to-lover romance. I loved Charlotte and Marcus, their chemistry is undeniable and their interactions are delightfully witty and charming. The secondary characters, especially Dinah are wonderful and I loved the cameo of William Wordsworth! This story is included in the Christmas in Cumbria anthology and is loosely tied to The Governess Chronicles series.

I would highly recommend the anthology just for these two stories alone, but knowing that there are 11 more stories by well-known authors: Tammy Andresen, Sadie Bosque, Chasity Bowlin, Collette Cameron, Adele Clee, Christine Donovan, Amanda Mariel, Nadine Millard, Emily Royal, Tabetha Waite and Elizabeth Ellen Carter in the book makes me say that is a must-buy!

Bitesize Christmas bedtime stories with a little extra!

If you’re looking for a collection of original romantic Christmas stories, this anthology would be it!
They all have different levels of steam, some are sweet, some have mystery or a family secret. There are some seconds chances and long lost loves as well. Some were touching and other more fairytale like, but all in all 13 wonderful tales of love. Well-written, entertaining, fun and very christmassy!
I discovered some new to me authors I’m definitely going to check out.
I really enjoyed this book and it would make an excellent introduction into historical romance for anyone, or a nice gift under the mistletoe…

A wonderful Christmas romance collection of thirteen stories. There's something for everyone in Cumbria.

A Christmas Blessing by Tammy Andresen...
A delightful Christmas story in the Lords of Temptation series. All the family is celebrating Christmas with Ace and Emily. A joyous occasion and even more so with their Christmas blessing.

How the Scot Stole Christmas by Sadie Bosque...
This is a prequel short story to two series, Unfortunate Rakes and Inglorious Scoundrels. A steamy different social class romance. Ophelia and Eugene find their happily ever after in each other.

A Mistletoe Mishap by Chasity Bowlin...
An entertaining romance with a wicked sister and a little danger, a deserving happy ending for Emma and Devlin. Emma's the older sister mired in scandal and I love how she finally found her perfect match with Devlin.

Holly, Mistletoe, and Midnight Snow by Collette Cameron...
A lovely romance, heart warming. I enjoyed Owen and Ally, a couple meant for love and happiness.

The Smuggler's Christmas Rogue by Jane Charles...
Such a lovely story, a heart felt second chance romance filled with understanding and forgiveness. Camdyn and Sheena find love but are quickly torn away by deceit, year and a half later they have another chance at their love, a love that never left them.

Mine this Winter by Adele Clee...
A passionate reunion romance for Simon and Gwen. Lies kept them apart and now five years later they capture their love and a deserving happily ever after.

Wish Upon a Snowflake by Christine Donovan...
A wish upon a snowflake starts off a delightful Christmas romance. I enjoyed the story between Lady Sarah and Percy. They are determined to make their own plans and happiness.

Rogue Under the Mistletoe by Amanda Mariel...
Wonderful romance, interesting story and characters. Eleanor and Alexander are a great passionate pairing. Secrets and scandals have no place in this forever love story.

Christmas For Two by Nadine Millard...
This felt like a cozy romance, filled with passion and a wonderful future filled with happiness. A carriage accident, a snow storm, an unexpected inheritance and snowed in an inn give Adeline and Henry time to be 'just' themselves and fall in love.

Snowy Snowy Night by Emily Royal...
An entertaining romance and a second chance for Barrett and Emilia one snowy night. This time Barrett realises Emilia is so much more and won't let different social class stand in their way.

Enchanting by Candlelight by Tabetha Waite...
An enchanting, emotion filled romance, beautifully written with hope and understanding. A childhood love and unrequited love becomes a second chance years later for Anthony and Miranda.

A Governess Should Never... Kiss at Christmastide by Emily Windsor...
Such a wonderful romance, filled with hope and wonder. I loved Charlotte, such a bright and caring heroine and Marcus, the Duke that has so much to overcome, his guilt almost overtakes him but Charlotte opens his eyes to love again. Childhood friends make their way back to where they belong, and towards a forever love.

The Designing Duchess by Elizabeth Ellen Carter...
An engaging romance, art and love meld to make a wonderful journey to happily ever after for Grace and Henry.

If you are a fan of Christmas anthologies, you won’t be disappointed with this collection of stories. This was an immediate purchase for me when I saw the line-up of authors. Whether you are looking for sweet, heartwarming stories, something hot and steamy, or something in between these authors will keep you curled up in your favorite chair with a warm beverage for hours.

Holly, Mistletoe, and Midnight Snow by Collette Cameron
Owen Lockington felt like he never fit in. Whether it was from his being a large man, or his scandalous background, or both it was difficult to say. Being invited to the Westbrook’s for Christmas was a great opportunity to see if they would consider investing in his mine. Althelia Westbrook has transformed into a confident woman through life’s hardships. Although Owen put her a little at unease (not a bad thing, just a new experience for her) she was immediately attracted to him. As their mutual attraction builds and they realize how unique the other is, admiration and love follow. Can the privileged, pampered daughter of an influential duke and the by-blow of an earl have a future? Will Christmas bring them the joy they desire?
This continues the Chronicles of the Westbrook Brides series but is easily read as its own story. I loved Althelia and Owen’s story! The banter between the two is great and Owen’s gentleness with the horses and puppies is moving. I am looking forward to more stories with the Westbrook family.

A Scot Stole Christmas by Sadie Bosque
Lady Ophelia has no desire to be in a loveless marriage like her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cavendish, regardless of how advantageous. Her parents are always plotting and pushing men to court her. At three and twenty, if she doesn’t find a suitor by the end of her parents’ house party, her father will pick one for her. Eugene has lived a mysterious life moving from town to town using a different name each time. He is at the Cavendish’s house party for one reason – to steal a tiara as revenge against the duke’s family. However, when he meets and develops an attraction for Ophelia, his desire for Ophelia starts to war with his desire for revenge. Which will win? Does the answer lead to a wonderful future, or an impossible one? This story is the prequel to two new series by Sadie Bosque. I so enjoyed the story but wish it had been longer as it seemed a bit rushed. I would love to see it further developed and turned into its own story along with one of the new series. I am excited to see what happens with the secondary characters in the new series.

I highly recommend this collection! The price can’t be beat, even if you only read a few stories. In addition, if you aren’t familiar with all the authors, you have just opened the window to several new worlds. What a spectacular gift to yourself or anyone else who loves to read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Holly, Mistletoe, and Midnight Snow. I happily read the story and provide my honest opinion.

This story, How the Scot Stole Christmas, which I received free as an ARC from the author, is really more of a novella. It’s part of a collection of Christmas stories: Christmas in Cumbria, but I only received this one part of the whole.

This is the story of Ophelia, daughter of a duke, and Eugene, a Scottish peasant with a dark tie to her father. Of course, her father doesn’t know about it, since it involved his mother before he was born, but Eugene is bent on revenge. Until he meets Ophelia, who threatens to upend everything he had planned for his future—including a level of riches that would enable him to live much more comfortably than he has in the past.

As the story goes on, Eugene hides his true identity from Ophelia, she is led to believe (by someone else) that he is actually a duke, and they fall more and more in love. They have deep conversations about intellectual issues and respect and enjoy each others’ company. When Ophelia begins to suspect Eugene is actually not part of the aristocracy, things he has alluded to suddenly become clear.

The story, although it has an HEA, ends differently that I thought it would. I liked the ending because I found it much more realistic than a sudden “magical” ending in which some aristocratic heritage is discovered that makes it possible for them to be together. No, they have to make that decisions—really, Ophelia has to make that decision—knowing full well that they will be forced to live in relative poverty (at least, compared to the pampered life she has heretofore experienced) and she will probably lose her parents in the process. But true love is worth any sacrifice, right?

Holly, Mistletoe and Midnight Snow: I really liked Owen. He is a big guy who feels out of place pretty much everywhere but in the stables with horses. He is the illegitimate son whose father acknowledged him enough to send him to a good school where he met his best friend. When he is invited to his friend's home for Christmas, Owen isn't sure he will stay, but when he meets Althelia. Althelia is so different from other women. She also likes to spend time in the stables, likes riding horses astride and wears trousers. Turns out she is his kind of woman. What will her family think about a match between them?

The Smugglers Christmas Rogue: Sheena falls in love with Camdyn during her first season. The problem is his father, and her uncle will never let them be together. Camdyn is ready to run off to Gretna Green when their families show up. It does not go well, and Sheena finds out about Camdyn's deception. Camdyn really did fall in love with Sheena, but she will never listen to him now. A year and a half later, Camdyn's father has died, and he is going to find a way to get Sheena to listen to him. When a snowstorm gives him just the opportunity he was looking for. Will she finally listen? Will she ever forgive him?

An astounding collection!
I read a couple of novellas, but I'm sure the others are just as good!

Emily Windsor's novella
I so love Emily Windsor and her writing! And I loved this cute novella, even if I wished for a full-length novel simply because I loved it so much that I didn’t want it to end! The descriptions are breathtaking as always, the characters are so sweet, so cute, so vivid that I felt acutely for both. The plot is intriguing, especially the “mystery” surrounding Marcus’s sudden change of behavior from a kind and open young man to a grumpy miser.
And the reference to A Christmas Carol is striking and so well handled, with touching moments, but also very funny ones. A gorgeous read indeed!

Sadie Bosque's novella
Lovely novella, but it should have been a full-length book, because in my opinion it lacked something in the way it was composed… Meaning that it had a perfect and intriguing beginning, but a rushed and unlikely ending. But the writing is gorgeous as always and the lovemaking scenes very emotional, just as I like them. All in all a very pleasant read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is such a delightful Christmas Anthology brought together by so many of my favorite authors. What a wonderful holiday read. For my part, I am reviewing two of the wonderful stories in this collection . “Smugglers rogue”, by Jane Charles.
In this sweet story, a Scottish girl travels to London to partake in her first season and falls madly in love with an English Earl, who also vows his love for her. When his Father arrives, she learns that it’s all an act, as he only pursued her to learn secrets of her family’s whiskey smuggling. Heartbroken, she doesn’t see him again for a year and a half, until a snow storm brings them together, and he determines to win her love again.

In “Holly, Mistletoe, and Midnight Snow”, by Collette Cameron, we meet a big burly Scot named Owen, as he travels to his friend’s house for Christmastide . As an illegitimate son of an Earl , he has felt like he never belonged anywhere. The exception was his close friend , a Duke’s son, always had stood up for him since their days at University. When he meets his friend’s sister, he loses his heart almost immediately. In this sweet story, the lovebirds bond over horses and Dalmatians , and family that he’d never experienced.
Don’t miss this one!

𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐚: 𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is a delightful and festive anthology that features thirteen stories of love and romance set in the beautiful and snowy region of Cumbria, England. Whether you are looking for a second chance, a fake engagement, a guardian angel, a secret spy, or a magical wish, you will find it in this collection. The stories are written by some of the best authors in the genre, and they will transport you to a time gone by, where the spirit of Christmas and the power of love can overcome any obstacle. The stories are sweet, spicy, witty, charming, thrilling, and heartwarming, and they will make you laugh, cry, swoon, and sigh. I will review each one separately as I finish them. If you are a fan of Regency romance, you will not want to miss this anthology.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐞: A spicy and adventurous story of a duke’s daughter who meets a mysterious Scotsman at a Christmas house party. Ophelia is there to find a suitable husband, but she is drawn to Eugene, who is there to steal a valuable tiara from her father. She is unaware of his true identity and his ulterior motive, and he is torn between his duty and his desire. They face danger, deception, and a shocking revelation that could ruin their chance at happiness.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬: A heartwarming tale of second chances and forgiveness, this story follows a young lady who reunites with the man who broke her heart in the past, but now he wants to win her back. Will she be able to trust him again and accept his love, or will she let the past ruin their future?

𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧: A sweet story with an instant connection between Althelia and Owen, plus they both loved animals. Althelia is a strong and unusual woman, very honest and forthright. Owen carries his past like a challenge, he was a blow-by of a governess & earl, but his feelings and interest in Althelia show him what love truly is and the acceptance of him into her family is icing on the cake.

𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐞: The story follows Gwen and Simon, two former lovers who reunite at a remote estate and face a mysterious threat. Gwen is a bold and independent heroine, while Simon is a brooding and protective hero. Their romance is passionate and intense, with a touch of suspense and a hint of mystery. This is a perfect read for fans of historical romance and thrilling intrigue.

𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧: The story follows Ace and Emily, a married couple who are expecting their first child after three years of marriage and hosting a large family gathering. Ace is a loving and supportive husband, while Emily is a brave and resilient wife. Their romance is sweet and cozy, with a touch of humor and a lot of warmth. This is a perfect read for fans of historical romance and family drama.

𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐞: He was her older brother's best friend and she had loved him since she was fifteen; then he left to fight Napolean. She swore there would never be another and the last thing he told her was he would come back for her, but he never did. Until now, Anthony and Miranda meet again fifteen years later, he has reappeared to spend the Christmas holiday with his best friend and his family - how will she get through the holiday. Tender, warm, sweet, forgiveness, reuniting of hearts.

𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐢𝐧: I found this to be a very entertaining & fun Christmas romance. Emma and Devlin, meet at a holiday house party when they found themselves standing under a kissing bough. They were both attracted to each other; Emma is a scandalous and independent heroine, while Devlin is a rakish and charming hero. After only a few days, he proposed & she accepted & they secretly ran to Gretna Green to marry. Their romance is fun, with a touch of danger and a lot of banter & their HEA comes in the sweet, tender epilogue.

𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐛𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐝: I loved this cozy and romantic Regency novella that will make you feel warm this Christmas season. The story follows Adeline and Henry, two strangers who meet after a carriage accident in a snowstorm and find shelter in a nearby inn. Adeline is a shy and gentle heroine, while Henry is a kind and heroic hero. Their romance is slow and sweet, with a touch of danger and a lot of comfort. This is a perfect read for fans of historical romance and snowed-in stories.

A Perfect Christmas Gift:
This set of 13 stories is a perfect Christmas gift for yourself or your best buddies. This set is filled with wonderful happy and heartfelt romance tales with just the right amount of sizzle that put a smile on my face.
Every one of these stories is worth 5 stars each. They are short stories yet filled to the brim with exciting and interesting characters.
My favorite story is by Emily Royal book:
Snowy Snowy Christmas.
Emilia was quite a unique feisty character you can't help but love that she showed Barrett a thing or to. I have many laughs in that story.
Holly Mistletoe & Midnight Snow:
Charming and heartfelt story. Intriguing couple to follow while capturing romance along with cute puppies.
The Smugglers Christmas:
Another delightful swoon worthy romance with undeniable attraction.
There is not a book in this set that isn't rewarding to read. I enjoyed everyone.

Finding their way past heartbreak

It was not an accident that tore Gwendolyn and Simon apart five years ago, and what brings them together again may just be a sinister force. Secrets have a way of being revealed, which is what is bound to happen. They may want a happy reunion, but such is not guaranteed unless they renew their faith in one another.

I love a well written novella because it is a quick and fun way to spend a few hours. Mine This Winter by Adele Clee is one of the best I've read because not only are the characters deep and defined, but the plot is woven together with surprise twists.

This entertaining novella is part of the Christmas in Cumbria Regency romance collection, and it alone is worth the purchase price.

Content 411: This reviewed novella contains mild secular and religious swearing, as well as a descriptive sex scene.

Disclosure: I received a complementary ARC of Mine This Winter from the author via BookFunnel. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.

A collection of steamy stories. I found this alright but a lot of the stories had multiple regency etiquette errors, Americanisms ( we even had a character quoting a distance in kilometres!) , and my pet hate of non regency character names. It should also be noted that Cumbria is a recently county, created from merging the counties of Westmoreland and Cumberland whilst adding some of Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
It was pleasing to see some authors refer to Cumberland in their stories. It was also great to see the marvellous scenery of the Lake District referred to, and indeed have a whole plethora of stories set in that region and not London or Bath as the vast majority of regency stories are.
There a quite a number of stories and there are one or two that are good in my opinion, the rest being alright, but some slightly disappointing. That being so you can read it knowing the stories are short and there are plenty of different authors, so you may well find some that suit you, but I could not give it more than 3 stars.

This review is for How the Scot Stole Christmas by Sadie Bosque. Ophelia is an intelligent, well-read daughter of a duke, uninterested in socialising and finding a husband but is given an ultimatum to do so or her father will force her to marry a viscount of his choosing. Eugene is a thief who has wrangled an invitation to stay at the Duke’s home during a winter house party by lying about who he is. When they encounter each other, and converse, and kiss, he starts to have second thoughts about stealing from the Duke. When out riding they get caught up in a blizzard and have to take shelter in the gamekeeper’s cottage and... steamy steam times. Is it a sign of a good short story that I wanted to know more than was on the page? Thankfully this is a prequel novella to two new series, A Series of Unfortunate Rakes and Inglorious Scoundrels. I hope in particular the Marquess of Rivendale will feature.

My review is for How the Scot Stole Christmas by Sadie Bosque. Eugene is at the house party to do one thing, steal a valuable tiara from the duke. Eugene has a dark secret about his mother and her association with the duke’s household. One reason he agreed to steal the tiara is a bit of revenge for what happened to her. Then he meets Ophelia, the duke’s daughter. She wants to avoid the suitors her parents are pushing at her. She much prefers her books and academic pursuits. She gets in the way of his job, but they seem to like each other. Of course, Ophelia doesn’t know who he really is. Caught in a snow storm while out for a ride, things between them heat up. In fact, it seems they might be falling in love. How can it work, a duke’s daughter and a commoner? Eugene and Ophelia may be from different social worlds, but love does strange and wonderful things sometime. This is a quick read and prequel to two new series, A Series of Unfortunate Rakes and Inglorious Scoundrels. I look forward to reading those.

MINE THIS WINTER by Adele Clee

Even though this was a novella, Adele packed so much swoony romance and angsty longing with just enough mystery into this story to make it a brilliant read. Simon and Gwendolyn were in love and ready to be married, meeting clandestinely and stealing kisses despite their class difference and disapproval of their families. One misunderstanding leaves them brokenhearted and confused as they both spend the next five years separated. When fate brings them together again under the guise of an assignment from the Crown, both Simon and Gwen struggle to protect their hearts while unable to deny their attraction and connection from before. This was honestly one of my favorite stories by Adele thus far, and I highly recommend! 5 stars!

☃️☃️ONE DELIGHTFUL JOURNEY☃️☃️
Buzzing blizzards Ben! Sadie does it up light, shiny and bright, wrangling up all the festive frolicking, seasonal cheer and holiday magic, basking in the glow and going with the flow and pulling out all the stops. Vigilant of the alarming twists and surprising turns as the astonishing ups and stunning downs run rampant. Appreciation is an understatement, this hot little number comes packing a punch, traversing the calculating drama and spellbinding intrigue, tossing this gem into a frienzy with mind-blowing results. The scenes are strikingly sharp with vivid depictions and an array of illustrated portrayals, constructing embellished scenarios so luscious and alluring it leaves you breathless and awed. How the Scot stole Christmas is an enchanted Christmas tale!
Ophelia and Eugene are quite opposite! Ophelia is a Dukes daughter and her parents are very unfaithful to each other openly!
They want her to marry for status and Ophelia immerses herself in books and is really quite lonely! Eugene is on a mission of revenge and to repay a debt he thinks he owes!
Eugene and Ophelia fall in love and I hoped for a different ending but this is the one they needed!
Eugene can decide on revenge or love but he can’t have both!?
Ophelia had been raised with the best things in life can she be content with less?
These two need a Christmas miracle! Is that possible when both worlds collide? Bravo

The Smugglers Christmas Rogue by Jane Charles
5 stars
This is a sweet, touching, entertaining, fun read. Shenna and Cam are interesting, intriguing, relatable, fun characters. They had me pulling for their HEA from the very first page. I enjoyed these characters as individuals and a couple. Their time on page together entertaining and brought a chuckle or two. The ending was very fitting for this couple. The story is easy to read and Charles manages to tell an enthralling story in a minimal amount of pages.

This is such a sweet, fun, entertaining, holiday set read. I enjoyed all the characters, as they each brought a unique experience to the story. The romance is good and very fitting for the couple. This story is what I love about holiday reads, it’s like putting on your favourite sweater – comforting, enveloping, touching and sweet. The story is easy to read and fall into.
