Dulu Wang (1909-1977), was a famous Chinese Wu Xia (which literally means “heroes with martial art skills”) writer in the 1930s and 1940s who wrote many novels including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ( 臥虎藏龍 ) Pentalogy which was adapted into a film under the title “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” by Ang Lee and his colleagues in 2000. Its spectacular action, rhapsodic landscapes and tragic romance have touched audiences in Asia, North America and around the world and won over 40 awards including Academy Awards of Best Foreign Language Film, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. Wang was less interested in writing about ruthless killings; instead he focused on his characters’ development, their emotions, friendship, and passions. Wang had great sympathy for women who suffered cruel oppression by the society, and his novels featured many strong female characters, warriors, and heroines. Most of his stories featured tragic endings. His perfect combination of wuxia, romance and tragedy in his novels have thrilled many critics and readers and this style have influenced many authors.
During 1925-1949 Wang published more than 90 novels and thousands of articles and poems. The Collected Works of Dulu Wang has many Wuxia novels including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Pentalogy. This Volume One includes A Dart Heroine, Dancing Sword, Flying Petals, Four Good Little Men, and The Heroine of Xiangshan.
The novel of “A Dart Heroine” was published in 1942. The story was about a girl, who was strong in fighting especially with the use of darts, had to fight against gangsters to save her Master, meanwhile, she had to choose between two one was handsome and rich but light-hearted and another had the virtues of courage and sacrifice, but less good-looking.
The synopsis of “Dancing Sword, Flying Petals” A female knight was chasing her father’s murderer for revenge and looking for her lover who suddenly denied his love for her and ran away. Before his death he told her that he was the person who killed her father accidently. During the whole story, a knight fell in love with her, but didn’t want to take any advantage of her because he was married. He helped her to fight many enemies and helped her family a lot. In the end, he went home and lived in seclusion.
“Four Good Little Men” was published in 1948. This story occurred in the early years of the Republic that four little men, who were very poor and lived in the bottom of the society, along with a poor and sick educated person to bravely fight against local thugs and save a girl from abuse. “The Heroine of Xiangshan” was published in 1949. This story was a continua- tion of the story occurred in “Four Good Little Men” that the local thug was even more evil because he was hired by the government and was protected by an officer in the army. When he continued to abuse women, the heroine had no choice but to kill him.

Wang Baoxiang (1909 – 12 February 1977) was a Chinese mystery, science fiction, and wuxia romance novelist who wrote under the pseudonym Wang Dulu. Wang is also known by the courtesy name Xiaoyu.
He is most well known in the West for his series of interlinked novels, collectively referred to as Crane-Iron Series, which includes Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The novel been adapted to film and television several times, most notably the award-winning film adaptation of the same name directed by Ang Lee.
