Good variety of great stories.

I enjoyed this book. Each story had an interesting plotline, and all told a complete story. The romantic couples had me cheering for their successes. I thought the use of the Lowcountry details added just the right amount of local world-building. I would recommend this book for any reader who is looking for a book that will bring as much joy and love as the holiday season.

I read the first book—Sunrise Christmas by Linda Joyce and I couldn't stop reading it and wish there was more. Lauren had a choice—she could return to Sunrise Island and spend 14 days doing what the will said or she could forfet it—she only went back since she was 18 for her Aunt’s birthday each year. She also didn’t like to look in people eyes as she could see what their problems were. The people on the island loved her aunt and they all seemed to know everything that was in her will—would she fulfill it or let it go. I highly recommend this book.

This was a holiday collection of short stories that were so good. I liked that before the story started they rated whether it was a P,PG etc... that way before starting I knew what kind of story. The book starts out with Linda Joyce and A Sunrise Christmas and then I was really hooked. Her story was just so good and the book hinted that she might be writing cozies in the New Year. Linda and the other authors all hit and got a home run!

This Christmastime anthology really put me in the holiday spirit. Of the many different stories, I particularly liked "A Sunrise Christmas". The author's descriptive writing made me feel as if I was there on the beach alongside the main characters. A perfect feel-good story.

“Candlemas”

I was intrigued by Paula Gail Benson’s story. Her “Candlemas” is a captivating adventure in time travel—the action of traveling through time into the past or the future—which I know something about, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

“Candlemas” begins in modern Columbia, South Carolina. One of the characters, Amos Morgan, a doctor, has traveled from the twentieth century back in time to 1770 Charles Town, South Carolina, which we now call Charleston. He marries and has a child, which needs modern medicine to survive. His eighteen-century wife makes the trip forward in time to save their daughter. His daughter, Franny Morgan, is quite an anomaly being born in the eighteenth century and raised in the twentieth century. Can you imagine the intense and interesting discussions you could have with Franny and her mother?

Franny grows up, goes to school, falls in love and by then, the calendar has flipped to the twenty-first century. All this while, she’s drawn to try time traveling herself.

Some characters in Candlemas thrive in the heartbeat of yesteryear. However, some find modern comforts are a necessity to daily life. The host of characters in Ms. Benson’s story are intriguing and made me want to gather with them for wonderful conversation in both 1770 and 2022.

Now about my time travel. I went back in time ten hours.

You see, I left Japan on July 20th at 10:00 a.m. I arrived in California on July 20th at 12:01 a.m. I got to relive ten hours of my life.

After four years in Japan, life felt foreign in the United States, though I had been born and lived here in multiple places across the country the first eight years of my life. My almost-thirteen-year-old eyes took in billboards, the price of gas, different automobiles, and fast food. All so very different from the reality I’d lived before I touched down in California. I really related with Franny.

If you like time travel, history, and romance, you’ll enjoy this Ms. Benson’s story.

I loved this story. Its about a young woman who inherits her aunts cottage but her aunt has made
some stipulations to receive her gift. Lauren has to complete some tasks before Christmas Eve in order to receive her inheritance. She isn't too thrilled about this since she hasn't decided if she want it, but with the help of her neighbors and her sister they convince her to do what her aunt wanted. This is such a lovely story along with laughter. I rated it 5 stars. I highly recommend this as you wont be disappointed in it. There are several other stories with this that are all Christmas stories. They are short stories filled with fun and laughter. You will enjoy them, I know I did.
