This is the third part of Dr. Alexandre Doumenach's book "Vitamin D Vitamin C Iodine" on the topic of iodine. The entire book is also available.
"Due to the multitude of studies the doctor provides, it is surely one of the most credible books on these topics." - Marceau Bourreau MD
"After reading this book, all controversy and doubts suddenly disappear. Things that used to be unclear are now becoming obvious. Substances that have been ignored turn out to be extremely helpful. Terrible diseases appear to be preventable and curable." - David Toussaint MD
"The author shows in a very reliable way that we need more of these underestimated substances. In addition, it does so mainly on the basis of scientific studies, not anecdotes or stories, and therefore as it should be." - Emmanuel Royer PhD
"Essential reading for those who wish to stay healthy and for those who wish to recover." - Hélène Castain MD
“Alexandre once again looked at the scientific papers so that we do not have to do it ourselves.” - Michel Dupont PhD
"Who is this book for? I think for everyone. For everyone who wants to prevent disease and live a healthy life as well as for everyone who is struggling with some disease now. It is very likely that the information in this book will help the person overcome this disease or at least alleviate the unwanted symptoms. Finally, this book is for any physician who wants to broaden their understanding of treatment and treat their own patients effectively. The number of scientific publications on which the book is based will undoubtedly help to achieve this." - Bernard Fontaine MD
Based on scientific studies, the author shows the remarkable properties of iodine related to cancer, thyroid disorders, fibrocystic breast disease, diabetes, heart disease, infections, pregnancy complications, prostatic hyperplasia, low IQ, PCOS, menstrual disorders, fibromyalgia, toxic metals and more.
This short and sweet book is under 100 pages, but does an excellent job of summarizing iodine studies from all over the world, on both human and animal subjects. There were even some things I didn't know about iodine in here (like why TSH levels rise when taking iodine) and how important it is to make sure you're not iodine deficient when pregnant.
This book is a great complement to The Iodine Crisis and Iodine: Why You Need It, and Can't Live Without It. Together, the three of them make the perfect trifecta that I would recommend to anyone interested in learning about iodine!
This author was great at distilling these studies briefly and concisely but with enough information. He did not sound biased and if the studies had any flaws or non-ideal components (e.g. the sample was small, no control group, etc.) he mentioned that as well. This book is full science, well-researched and the evidence is consistent and pretty indisputable. I know the findings would be replicable in larger studies too.
Organized by health concern (e.g. cancer, diabetes, thyroid issues), some of the results are just stunning. There were even new things I learned from this book that weren't mentioned in the other two books or my own research on iodine.
The only minor flaw I found with the book was the conclusion was a bit silly. The author is best at summarizing studies and providing medical/chemistry explanation, but not writing things like conclusions. The personal writing was a bit sloppy and having an editor for that section would have helped. It was giving high school essay closing... For example: "As for the results, I have proved hopefully they are very often extremely beneficial" (69). Other than this, there's not much to critique though!!
I'm definitely interested in checking out his other books on Vitamin C & Vitamin D, as I haven't read as many studies on those nutrients in my free time.
I would definitely recommend this book to others! In fact, I'm going to give it as a gift! It's so short, even busy people can find time to read it ;)
Great information with backup studies to show how important iodine is in our bodies. As a woman with recent breast cancer diagnosis, I wish I had read this years ago. I have been taking iodine, but not enough. Going forward this information will hopefully prevent it from coming back.
Kindle version warning - the first 65 chapters are missing!
…Because the Kindle version I downloaded started at Chapter 66, I’m not able to provide a fair review of the entire book! Not sure if this is an error on Amazon’s or the author’s part, but until this has been fixed, I can’t recommend the Kindle version.
Amazing how much has been taken away from us nutrition wise and iodine is one of them. I appreciated the summary of all the peer reviewed studies showing that iodine is not only safe, but extremely beneficial. And lacking it in our diets is highly detrimental.
