Fated Bonds are nothing to take lightly. Jo wasn’t the type to settle because she knew her mate was out there somewhere. When her Alpha attempted to claim her, she had no choice but to run. Jo became a lone wolf and would run as long as she had to because the alternative was far worse -spending an eternity with someone she wasn’t destined to be with.

Laz understood what it meant to have a mate. His mother had warned him that one day the right wolf would enter his life and turn his world upside down, however no warning could have prepared him for the intense moment when he laid eyes on his little wolf - an Alpha just like him.

Welcome to Hollow Grove where things go bump in the night!

“This place, maybe not, but me, I’m your home and your Alpha, little wolf.”

*Howls at the moon* 🌕 🐺Where the Wolf n*ggas at?!? I’m sayiinnggggg I’m trying to pull up on the pack🐺🐺🐺 and get my wounds licked 👅!! Claim me as your mate I’m worthy!!

K.C.!!!!! Sis!!!! 5 stars for originality alone!!! There may be other stories out there like this but FOR ME, for me this is a first and I was THOROUGHLY impressed with everything about Laz and Jo’s story.

Jo is on the run from her original pack. Her previous alpha was trying to force mating on her and as an alpha herself, sis was like nah I’d rather be out here on my own before I let you imprint on me! And for the past 6 months that’s exactly what her life was like. She did just enough for daily sustenance and provide herself with the basic necessities. After allowing herself a night to roam freely, she ran into some trouble and these wolves overpowered her.

Laz and his brothers showed up like Jacob and Seth (IYKYK) and put the pack down. Laz thought he was doing a good deed but he smelled her before he saw her and those senses kicked into full gear when he finally came face to face with his mate! Babbbbyyyyy Laz went into INSTANT protection mode and was not letting up not even a little bit with how he was coming behind what was his. The n*gga was around there chanting mine, mine, mine like the seagulls from Finding Nemo and everybody had no doubt that she was his.

I loved everything about this book and have no idea why it took me so long to read it! I can’t wait to get into Xander and Toyin’s story because I can already tell these two are going to be intense! *runs to kindle*

I love me a good paranormal read and Lone Wolf did not disappoint. Joelle is on the run from a power hungry alpha pack leader who is looking to make her his mate by choice or by force. Being an alpha herself, Abe only wants to claim Jo for his own personal gain. Since she has no help from her weak azz pack, she disowned all of them and dipped. While on a run, Jo is attacked by some of Abe’s furry henchmen. Bennet Pack to the rescue! From the first lick, Laz knew Jo was his forever mate and his fierce protectiveness kicked. He was gon’ make Little Wolf his and she just needed to get with the program. I love the fact that this book is about two alphas of the opposite sex and they’re able to coexist without egos getting in the way. Laz doesn’t want to rule Jo; he wants her to stand by his side as his equal and help lead their pack as the new Luna. I found that to be so sexy about him. His non sexist attitude just added to his BDE. Lone Wolf was a great read. Jo and Laz were an awesome introduction to this series. For this to be the author’s first venture into the paranormal, I thought she did an impressive job. The storyline and detailed imagery were awesome. My only complaint would be the length of the book. I have to agree with some of the other readers. This book should’ve been a full length novel. I really think we should’ve gotten more background on these characters than what was given. Hopefully, the other books will be more detailed than this one. I hope the author doesn’t make us wait too long for Toyin and Xander’s story. That not so little bomb she dropped at the end of the book still has my mouth on the floor. And, the hint of more things to come for the Lafayette family?!!! Yes please!

Mated

Well shii I ain't ever read anything like this. I'm strictly a romance girl, but I enjoyed this tiptoe over into the supernatural world.

Laz and Jo knew instantly that they were mates. While Laz embraced it, Jo tried to fight it. It was clear she didn't understand who her wolf was, but she learned quickly that he didn't play at all. These two were sexy and aggressive, their connection was off the chain. Alpha to Alpha, Wolf to Wolf, meant they were both stubborn and head strong, but they eventually worked through all that tension. Loved the growth.

The ending...I know you lying. Time to see how Xander cleans up this mess he made.

Jo x Laz

This has to be my favorite Halloween read. Jo was in hiding from an alpha wolf who's trying to mate her by force. Jo, an alpha herself, wasn't having it. After an attack on the woods, she met Laz, the alpha of the Bennett pack. She immediately became his 'Little Wolf'. Jo's first instinct is to run and flee. But Laz wasn't going to let his Little Wolf get away that easily.

This was sexy and soo good. Laz and Jo were everything. KC is such a damn good storyteller. Can't wait to dive into book 2

Strange and interesting

Shifting and paranormal stories aren't usually my thing. However, never say never. The Bennett pack pulled my interest, so I'll have to see what they have going on.

Joelle “Jo” Carver is a wolf on the run from an Alpha with horrible intentions for her pack and for her personally. I mean, what alpha male wouldn’t want to mate with an alpha female? Sounds like match formed in heaven, right? Rather than mate with an Alpha she knows isn’t her one, she leaves and unintentionally finds her fated mate in Bennet pack alpha Lazar “Laz” Bennet. When K C Mills mentioned that she was venturing into the paranormal lane, I got excited. With her writing style and my love for paranormal elements, I feel it could work well for me. I’m proud to say that I liked the introduction of the Bennet pack. I’m always gonna be down for a female Alpha, so I know Jo would transition to a great Luna. The set up of other books is seamless and I can’t wait to read their stories. With that being said, my biggest issue is the length. With it being a fated mates story, instalove is expected but for two alphas, a full length would’ve been a vibe.I would’ve loved more world building and fleshed out scenes of the storyline. Also, for a short story, it had a lot of grammatical errors. Nonetheless, I feel this is a good start to the Bennett pack and the authors paranormal romance journey. I can’t wait to see the progress of the series and the writing.

I love a paranormal romance and if it's a shifter romance...even better! This was a quick 76 page fated mates read. I honestly felt like it went by a little fast (only because I wanted more of Jo and Laz). I feel like with the story that was introduced and the drama that was unfolding it could have easily been at least another hundred pages or so.

I really liked the dynamic between Laz and his brothers (Xander and Zion). That they all three kind of shared the responsibility of Alpha in their pack but kind of deferred to Laz in the leadership role. I think Jo's aversion to pack life because of the Alpha of her former pack made her appreciate the relationships of Laz's pack a little more. Instead of there being one person, a dictator, the pack was more balanced. They took in rogues that didn't belong anywhere and even had a witch (Toyin) as part of the pack.

Xander being fated to Toyin was something I didn't really expect. I was definitely interested in why he was fighting that bond so hard. And I was even more interested at the end with the information bomb that was dropped. That was a set up that had me immediately downloading book 2.

Alpha-hole

Where to start? If you’ve read Nikki Clarke’s wolf shifter series you will love the heck out of this. If you haven’t you should while you wait for the next book. I think Mills foray into PNR was a slam dunk. Enough lore to get the basics without drowning you in info. The pace was good. It was fated mated/insta love but I think she did a good job of giving the relationship some foundation. The writing is very conversational making it a quick and easy read. I personally consider it more steamy than spicy but good.

I can’t recall ever reading a shifter story with a dub-con claiming (that was from the mmc). Sure it was heat of the moment but it was still premeditated,so this is your content warning if you have strong feelings about consent. Laz also might make you feel a way because he toes the line between controlling vs dominating.

Overall I’m really looking forward to the next book cause baaaaby that epilogue. And I’m very happy a writer I enjoy will be writing in one of my favorite genres.

I knew I was going to like this book when Laz said "What's your name little wolf". Boy stop playing 🥵 Anywhodles I wanted a little bit more from this story bc Jo seemed like a really interesting character female alpha, rare red wolf (why is that considered rare), why was Abe an ass but his dad wasn't? So many questions and the ending felt too easy. With all that said I really enjoyed this book. I want Toyin book like yesterday but I'll read Zion for now.

CN: parental death, grief, emotional abuse, nightmares, and dub con Laz definitely marked her without her consent but KC Mills worked through it on page (it was brief)

Laz and Jo were amazing. I did not want this book to end. Jo was trying to stand her ground against Laz but babe when you are in the presence of your TRUE mate you can't stop the pull. I am looking forward to seeing more about them in the other books for sure!! That ending almost made me double drop my mouth. I can not wait for Xander’s story because that witch is going to give him a run for his money but I know it's going to be great!

Lone Wolf is a passionate, emotional romance about finding love when you least expect it. The connection between the main characters is intense, tender, and beautifully layered, balancing vulnerability with strength. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the love story feels earned through trust, patience, and real emotion. A heartfelt read for anyone who loves romance with depth and soul.

I love this author, but this is just not enough plot in what could be an interesting world. And the 'alpha' is just too 'hole' for me.

Will continue the trilogy because of my condition (completionist!), and hoping the others are better for me as they are both longer.

Book 1
Lifting someone’s shirt to check out injuries when they’re conscious and should be consenting to that is wildly different than treating someone who is naked and unconscious. I felt so uncomfortable in that scene. Which it’s why

Using the word “p*ssy” as an insult also isn’t a great look for anyone.

Zero relationship development and zero plot development. Granted, it’s only 75 pages long according to my kindle.

She continues to do the idiotic “- ___name of character speaking telepathically__”thing which makes sense since I read book 3 first and this is book1. Continued to drive me nuts though.

This might be the first book I’ve ever read where the love interest proposes to use his/her lover as the bait. Usually they’re totally against and the lover has to argue about why it makes sense. Haha

This leaned way too far into the things I usually dislike about fated mates stories (instalove, lack of actual relationship development or buildup, over the top jealousy, little to no acknowledgment of consent, etc etc). Lots of superficial sex scenes with no emotional connection or chemistry. The characters were also very crass. That’s a personal issue though.

I’m gonna be skipping book 2. Primarily because I wasn’t impressed by books 1 & 3. But also because I’m not a fan of stories where there are fated mates or characters supposedly being in love but then one or both is sleeping around.
