I absolutely adore this series. The characters designs, the soundtrack, the plot twists! I love how the author slowly reveals the characters one by one, as well as the striking contrast between the beautiful art and the horror genre. I recommend this 100%, I cried about three times while reading it :')

Me quedé en el capítulo #58 (final de la primera temporada).

Me gustó. Las historias donde el protagonista viaja en el tiempo (Tokyo Revengers, Vol. 1, Miss Time, Goodbye, In-law) me suelen encantar. No sé exactamente por qué, pero es muy poco probable que haya un viaje al pasado en el libro y yo no lo disfruté (el último arco de Tokyo Revengers es la excepción). Por lo cual, eso me gustó mucho. However, a pesar de saber que no era una historia de romance, me hubiera gustado que hubiera al menos una pizca de amor jsjsj pero bueno, la segunda temporada promete.

Rina, mi reina, se te cayó esto: 👑. Besto personajes de todos, and no one can change my mind.

I finished this so fast I was so addicted to the story. it had my jaw dropping!!! everything led into the next scene or event so seamlessly and logically i loved it. and the overarching message was really beautiful

This manhwa is quite possibly what I always wanted. A manhwa with female lead with no romance, or romance that doesn't become the central focus of the story. I bawled my eyes in the end thinking the kind of ending they got but Devil messed up.

It might have been quite difficult to win with so much odds stacked against them but the team did it. I can't be more filled with pride and happiness about reading them.

After Thriller Trainee this is quite possibly another masterpiece I have read.

This webtoon reminded me of Omniscient Reader in the way it gets meta about the reading experience and the reincarnation storyline. I would say that the commentary about readers comes secondary to the emotional connections that the webtoon highlights, however. I will make a list of the messages I found to be impactful:

1. How important it is to not give up, cheesy as it is, and how we need other people in order to keep going. Chaerin begins the webcomic as a coldhearted protagonist who only sees other people in terms of their usefulness to herself. She wanted to start over when things got hard and she didn't see the point in getting closer to her classmates because she would die anyways. Her defeatism was a form of protection so she wouldn't get hurt. Then, as she starts connecting with her classmates, she stops restarting, and she chooses to stay with them. It's a really good allegory for what happens in her real life. There's a quote at the end:

Do you feel burdened by the weight of your responsibilities? You have to keep going day by day yet do you ever feel like you no longer have the will to carry on? Do you ever feel small and worthless? Despite all that, try moving forward. You never know, if you live on you may meet the lovely unknown extras of your own life.

The author says she was making the story during a tough time in her own life, and I am so grateful that I was able to read such a lovely anti-suicide story.

2. How unfulfilling it is to live by the thoughts implanted in our head by other people. The characters in the story in the webtoon were told by their author to act in certain ways, but they end up rebelling against those thoughts, because they didn't belong to them. I can certainly relate to this. The characters feel more real once they start living on their own terms.

3. How important it is to see characters as real. Since Chae-rin is the author, it is jarring for her to see her characters she created in order to alleviate her sadness. She realizes that she did a disservice to many of them, writing them as one-dimensional characters who only existed to further the plot. It is so exciting to read books from authors who treat their characters as real people (*cough Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Vol. 1).

Same review for the entire series: such a fantastic webtoon. Spoilers ahead. This has a little bit of everything in terms of themes and genres. A really compelling read, and fantastic drawings. This author is continuing to be one of my favourite webtoon authors. Has such a fantastic way of playing with story, but never makes things trite or playing with genre just for the sake of being subversive. Always feels grounded in a well crafted plot, and considered characters. The characters in this are maybe a little less well-rounded than in The Make-up Remover. It isn’t irritating though, and makes sense for this story as we don’t ever fully get to see who they are outside of their roles. We do get to see the start of them developing their personalities, and it’s nice knowing that they will get to continue that journey. There are also soo many characters, and this story is quite plot based and concept based - so I really think it’d get too confusing if we did a deep dive into each and every character anyway. Annnyway - too stuff!

Surviving Romance me atrapó desde el inicio con ese planteamiento plagado de giros, la protagonista y la forma tan ingeniosa que tiene de jugar con los límites del cómic. Es un manwha que he recomendado mil veces sin saber cómo terminaba y ahora que por fin he llorado con el final puedo volver a recomendarlo.

Es impredecible. Es muy, muy original. Tienes un montón de secundarios a los que al principio no prestas atención y luego matarías por ellos. El final de la segunda temporada es precioso y el deselance tiene un mensaje increíblemente esperanzador.

Por favor, dadle una oportunidad que se la merece.

I was expecting this to be a typical romance webtoon but right off the bat, it was full of action and angst. The progression of the plot was good and so was the pacing. I liked the friendship development between the characters because it was kind of a found family trope which I always enjoy reading about. The finale was so good! And I can't wait to see how the story will continue to develop in S2.

I cannot help but respect the audacity, the height that the author was striving to reach by telling this story, despite the flaws. I could nitpick, and deconstruct a lot of aspects that were rough and unvarnished, but they'd still be shadows that vaporise the minute the blistering sun of the story falls upon them. Who said entertainment meant for mass consumption couldn't be profound?

Me hacen mucha gracia las expresiones de Chaerin.
Me ha gustado mucho el inicio, con os bucles y el caos mental que esto conlleva... es relativamente normal y lógico, teniendo en cuenta la trama.
No tengo pistas sobre el personaje extra desconocido.
Estoy enganchada.

Es un libro apto para adolescentes, pero se hablan temas fuertes, creo que lo ideal es a partir de 15 años.

I reread the first season so I could start the second one, and it was as enjoyable as the first time. The second season really kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, I devoured the chapters.
