I hate vampires....every single one of them.

Life has become like hell for me. Every day is a struggle to survive and I know just who to blame for this mess, the vampires. Those blood sucking creatures who made me addicted to their venom and then left me to rot. So when one of them pushes back into my life and nearly destroys it, once again, I should be doing everything possible to kill him.

I know that's what I should do. So what does it mean that I am so drawn to those that I hate? What does it mean that I can't stay away?

*The reader should note this is book 2 of 3. The happy ending comes with book 3. You have been warned.*

So….ehhhhh….while some of my fears didn’t happen (thank God!) I found it rather boring and bland. Perhaps it was because the guys were so cold? They had little to no personality and it was played off as “that’s just how vampires are”. How am I suppose to get attached to someone like that? As for Maci? She was just as boring. The synopsis was way off and she never really “hated” them, which is unfortunate because it could have been a great enemies to lovers. But…..just nothing. She started sexing them up within days. That’s not hate that’s wishy washy feelings and then justifying it as “I deserve it”.
Ultimately, not a win….and some extremely confusing parts that were just out of place.

Prior to reading thoughts…..
As much as I want to read this I’m hella leery. In the first book everyone was a virgin and they fell in love with our h and fully believed they would remember her when they awoke. My worry, based on previous RR books, is that the purity of that sweet relationship has been destroyed. They guys have become manwhores and she’s having casual hookups.
I know it’s not realistic to expect them to all be virgins and saving themselves for each other (unintentionally for the guys but perhaps a deep knowledge that there is something missing from their lives) but their bond in book 1 was special and I want them to be their one and only’s. Plus, I have a feeling she may be witnessing their sexual activities first hand due to who is helping her recover/survive.
Either way, I’ll probably give it a try and hope that we won’t have to wait an extended time (this book is being released 7 months later than it was initially announced) for the final book where they will all get an HEA.

Loved it

This book picks up without missing a beat. Maci has had to do a ton more growing up since we saw her last, and yet she is somehow still a gentle soul. The guys somehow find her again and notice things are different with her....the question is why. The search is on for answers and to stay under the radar of the elders. I loved it, and can't wait to read more

Buckle up!!!

Yowza what an epic ride indeed!!! Maci is back and not putting up with any guff from her resurrected guys. No longer the guys she knew- once they came out of those coffins and scattered.... abandoning her to her fate. Watch as our fierce gal finds her voice and her place in this new reality. A thrilling read filled with all the emotions and intrigue. There's definitely an underlying mystery here that Maci and the guys need to unlock. Be warned...there is an epic cliffy at the end 😉. This reader gives two VERY enthusiastic thumbs up. I absolutely can't wait to read the third in this dynamic series...yup I'm greedy like that.

Why did you read this book?
I wanted to know what happened after the first books cliffhanger.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Contemporary, Paranormal, Romance(?)

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS
I guess my favorite part would be when MC heals Tanners voice with her blood.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who doesn’t mind triggering content related to drugs, like unfeeling vampires, and a weak-willed heroine.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS
Honestly, I read the book because I had to know what happened during the cliffhanger. Sigh, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book, although this book was a bit better than the first there are still issues with the story. The love interests character development and individuality was much better in this one. However, their personalities were still uniformed. The only way I could tell them apart were their abilities. Sadly, I didn’t care for the MC in this book. Her giving up on life and her anger towards everything vampire conflicted. It made me think I was reading about two different MC’s at times. The love interests were sterile and robotic. Overall, I didn’t care for the book, although the vampire dynamic in this story was interesting.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts?
The MC has special blood. MC has an important secret parent. The love interests are magically drawn to MC.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
MF, vampire biting, and a bit of voyeurism.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
Medium burn.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are five love interests, all of them males, and vampires.
Caesar, Griffin, Tanner, Ash, and Rowan

Any trigger warnings?

If you haven't read the first book of this series STOP! Go back and read it. This book begins where Servant left off.

At the end of Servant, the guys were being introduced and fulfilling their promise to Maci. They didn't have all the facts though and she was kicked out and with her addiction to the venom this could be a death sentence for her.

Ace's father asked Wanda (from the bar) to help her, so she's had a place to stay, she also found a couple of vampires willing to bite her for money. She found a job that coincides with a vampire's hours so she's surviving but just barely, she's also just turned eighteen.

It's as she's about to get her first bite of the night from Samuel that Caesar shows up. He wasn't subtle in his reaction to seeing an unworthy vampire about to sink his teeth in her.

Maci is understandably angry she needs the bite to live. So, when Caesar asks why she lets him have it. All the truth and pain of the last nine months comes out. His reaction is to stop her wrist from bleeding and carry her to Rowan's old home. It's here that Caesar learns that what they thought Fredrick agreed to was not what was indeed agreed. Fredrick only kept her alive not well which at this moment was very clear.

When Caesar feeds from her he bites her neck not her wrist. It causes a reaction that normally wouldn't happen for at least a hundred years. It takes him by surprise, but he also knows Maci needs food and rest. He gets food and takes care of her, but she tries to eat too much and ends up sick during the daytime hours.

Things heat up with Caesar the next night, that's also when Griffin shows up. Apparently, Samuel went to snitch on them, but now he's dead and Griffin is here. His bite has the same reaction as Caesar's for both of them, so they know it's not just a fluke. They do however have to leave here, and Maci needs to shower and get her things from her apartment before that.

Maci is having dreams she's not remembering them though. The first after Caesar's bite and the second after Griffin's. They are most interesting to us the readers.

There are still the others who haven't yet shown up, but they do, starting with Tanner, then Ace and finally Rowan. Each have a different reaction to seeing her, but the feeding has the same affect across the board.

As promised in the note with the first book, there is much more heat in their relationship now. In fact, it's downright sizzling.

I love the way this book progresses the story, there's more about the Betrayer and the war. There are also more than few interesting developments. Including the cliff hanger.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

First off can we just appreciate how freaking beautiful this cover is? It's simple and so elegant. Love it. Ok so quick recap of book one, Servant. Maci met and quickly bonded with a group of teenage boys. With her home life being, well, not the best, and them knowing what their future held, their relationship progressed quickly. The guys knew their human lives would end and they would be reborn as vampires. It was their duty. They thought their bond with Maci was so strong that even their vampires would love her. So we all know that didn't work out so well for Maci. The mean old vampires used her up and had her so addicted to vampire venom that she needed it to survive. Hard to keep that going though once the boys woke up and Rowan kicked poor Maci to the curb and forbid any vampire from having anything to do with her. Not gonna lie, that first book had me so distraught. I woke up one morning with Maci and the guys on my mind, craving book two. Finally we are here. So book two picks up with Maci trying to make due in life any way she can. Hiding from the bad vampires and paying the ones she can to bite her and keep her from being in debilitating pain. Until the guys randomly show back up in her life. While she may need a vampire's venom to live, she sure doesn't want anything from them she doesn't have to take. She never wanted to give in and be a paramour or anything to a vampire really and she holds on hard to that.

The guys may all be different in their vampire form but one thing hasn't changed. They want Maci. She is special to them in more ways than they ever knew. It will take some time for them to adjust to their vampire nature and her human nature but they are working on it. I was glad to see the guys didn't lose all of what made them them. They are definitely different though.

So not only do we have Maci and the guys all coming back together and working things out but there is also the vampire war still going on. Somehow Maci is involved in that. We don't have all the answers yet but we do get a lot of clues. Maci starts to have some dreams that give us a hint of what's to come maybe? Very intriguing.

And yes, as warned in the blurb, there is no happy ending in this book. The ending is a cliffy and you are gonna be turning for more pages that aren't there yet. Here's hoping book three is just around the corner b/c I can't wait!!

Alone and addicted. Maci is alive, but just barely. After being bitten multiple times daily by the vampires, they abandoned her. She has to use her meager earnings to pay the lowlife vampires left behind to bite her. She's dying. And then Ceasar is back. Once again, the vampires turn Macy's life upside-down. They are no longer the boys she knew. Vampires are cold and calculating; they don't feel or care. Except, that's not entirely true. Something is happening that can't be explained. Maybe, it was supposed to be this way all along.

This vampire series is the most unique and unusual one ever. Rebecca Royce has created an entirely new vampire story that keeps getting more and more fascinating. The flashbacks gave the reader insights the characters didn't have, and more than once, I wanted to step into the pages to enlighten them. Their history has been hidden from them and twisted making me believe that's the true betrayal they should be fighting. The fact Maci is bringing them closer to rediscovering their past makes her dangerous to the Elders. I loved every word in this book. Watching the vampires recapture emotions and find lost pieces of themselves and seeing Macy establish her boundaries and place demands on the vampires, along with the sexy times and suspenseful moments made for an enthralling read. Then that ending! Ugh, I can't wait for more.

This is book two in this trilogy. While we are finding out more about Maci and her men this is not the end of their story. This book gives us Maci starting to grow up and being a stronger person. She may be addicted to the vampire venom but she is fighting to get her life back. She has lost her men but know they are the ones fighting for Maci.

Their story is an interesting one. It was nice to see the way Maci and her men interact now. Her relationships to each man is recovering and it was nice to see them take shape. Readers not only get to see these relationships but also how Maci and the men deal with everything that is going on in their world. The author does a good job of mixing the romance and the action together. This book is a nice continuation of the story and I am eager to see how this will all end.

This is where I stop with this series. I don't care about the happily ever after because it's hard to care about characters that are so BORING!!! The guys have no personality. I get they are vampires and are supposed to be aloof and distant, but there's a way to do that without taking away all of the personality. And while I could deal with them, I couldn't deal with Maci being the same way. She was bland and boring. She lost everything that made her her in the beginning of book 1. I also didn't like the fact that she was wishy washy with the guys. She would say she hated them but did nothing that said hate. I would have loved that because it would be a perfect enemies to lovers' story, which I'm a sucker for. I'm so frustrated and won't continue this series. Gorgeous covers and interesting synopsis. Just wasn't great on the delivery.

After being poisoned with Vampire venom, Maci was abandoned by the vampires. This book picks up almost a year later as Maci tries to survive the damage the the vampire elders inflicted. Working to pay low life vampires to bite her just so can live is not the existance she wanted nor was it one that she thought she would ever have.
I took me a while to pick back up the story thread, I had to re-read the last chapter of the previous book to remind myself of what had happened and where the story was up to but once past that initial blip, i just loved the tale. There is clearly some back story happening and am looking forward to the concluding book to see what is truly happening.

It feels like i have been waiting for this book for ages and still once i opened the first page it was like one day hadn't passed.
This is the second book in the series and it starts where the previous book left us.
I have to say that i absolutely love Maci and i love how we see the changes in characters since the boys transitioned.
Well written and full of emotions this book was to die for.
Fast paced and with lots of action this book is sizzling hot as the author had promised us.
I truly can't wait to read the next one!

After the slow burn of book 1, this one cranks up the heat to 350°, holy moly. This book picks up a few months after the end of Servant & Maci needs help. That help comes from a very unlikely place and the outcome is even more surprising.

I really love the world that has been created in this series and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I've been waiting forever for Paramour & honestly Rebecca Royce did not disappoint! Picking up where book one left off, we see the aftermath of the boys fulfilling their promises and the consequences of not only their actions but the other vampires as well-- Maci is addicted to venom and she is once again all alone. Your heart will break for her. But there is something else going on-- a pull towards her that cannot be explained. I feel like I still have more questions than answers and a book hangover to match! I cannot wait for book three!

When the past comes to visit

This book books of a couple of months after book 1. Maci is navigating life as much as she can with her new addiction. However certain vamps start to pop up. There bonday have been more than they originally thought.

Im glad the gang is back together, but I love the way their new dynamic is working and how being vamps have changed them. It's very much like meeting new but familiar characters. Definitely will try to wait patiently for the next book so we can see what happens.

When I read book one, I had no idea where this story would go. Not only is it unlike any vampire series I had read before, but the end of the first book left me with so many questions. This book did a great job of answering some of those questions and giving me the information I needed going into book three. I also enjoyed seeing how some of the character dynamics have changed from book one to now. There's not a lot I have to say about this one, mostly because I still have a lot of questions for the next book and am looking forward to seeing what Rebecca has planned for this world. Overall, this was an enjoyable book and it left me excited to continue!

It was a little bit of a wait but finally we get the 2nd book and it was worth it!! It picks up where the last left off and once you start reading you won't want to put it down, from the beginning the author keeps you hooked. With Maci seeing her guys again, well now they're vampires, and trying to figure out what's going on with them to her dreams it's a great read. Now the wait until the next book because what's coming is going to rock them and the readers I bet!

This is the much anticipated book two of Maci’s story. It picks up right where Servant left off. The guys are back, determined to make Maci their paramour. But she’s steadfastly holding onto her humanity. She’s determined to be independent even though she has to depend on the guys and the guys need her to feed. So much going on in this book and I’m really excited to see what happens in the next book.

Maci is a survivor. Living day to day, making just enough money for the "bite" and venom to keep her alive. Alive but not living. Until the time Caesar just shows up, followed by Griffin and.....And nope. They're dead & risen- vampires. But their bite? Heaven. And the fact that only she can feed and sustain them?! What? Excellent rh/vampire romance. Ooo. I can't wait for the conclusion. Kudos Rebecca Royce! This book was ABSOLUTELY worth the wait!

I really enjoyed this book it was an excellent addition to this series.
This book starts off right where the last book ends, and I loved every second of it.
I am so intrigued by Maci, and I'm so excited to see where the author goes with her and the guy's.
All Maci's vampires are hot and so yummy.
I would definitely recommend this amazing book and series.

Brilliant read. Great series.
Maci has been left behind. But before that she was stripped of the person she was before. Now she suffers more and more each day just trying to survive, even if surviving is killing her bit by bit. She hates the vampires for what they have taken from her but she needs them more than ever.
Brilliant read. Can't wait for the next

Love this series

I love this series so much. This is the second book in Rebecca Royce’s Trials of Blood series. Maci is a mess in the beginning but once her vamps find her, they make her better. She in turn, makes them better. This is a why choose PNR romance. The steam definitely picks up in this book. I’m already anticipating the next book

Not a Paramour!🤣

Rebecca once again goes outside the box and delivers a unique view on the vampire world! I love the strength and determination of Maci and the way she asserts herself. The mystery of what is happening is intriguing to say the least. So many questions yet to be revealed. And the cliffhanger? Oh boy. Can't wait for the next one!

I’m so enthralled with Maci’s story. I feel like the time between the two books forced her to grow up a lot. I have a lot of questions about the scenes that seemed to be dreams? They confused me a bit, but other than that, I loved the conflict with Maci and the guys, now as vampires. I also love the mystery we’ve been given. I cannot wait for the next book!

Even better than the first

I loved the first one. It was sweet and hopeful before Maci's world was turned upside down. The hopelessness in this was was profound and keenly felt, until things turned again. I absolutely cannot wait to read the conclusion of this story.

I adore Maci. She is so strong and her character is continuing to grow with and learn. When her guys come back as vampires things change drastically for her. Lots of ups and downs in this book. I love it and can't for the next book and Maci's happy ending.
