Enter the Askewniverse when pop culture nuisance Kevin Smith's brand-new anthology series opens for business, telling tall tales from the Jersey world of his classic comedies! In this premiere issue, Chronic-Con guest of honor Holden McNeil tells Alyssa Jones and a packed podcast audience his story of going green with legendary loiterers Jay and Silent Bob in the Quick Stop cooler, and how it directly led to the birth of his Bluntman and Chronic comic books! Black-and-white comics like the Clerks films. More misadventures with Jay and Silent Bob! Contains references to Kevin Smith's films like Clerks, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and Jay and Silent Reboot.

Great for fans of Kevin and more specifically the Viewaskewniverse. If you haven't seen Kevin's movies you will likely be lost, but watching those movies is part of the fun!
This series has brought me back to the world of comics. I loved this concept and loved hearing more backstory on Bluntman & Chronic and of course more context in what led to Holden and Alyssa reconnecting. In a world that predates the MCU, Kevin continues to give us great stories through multiple mediums to help develop the characters we love.
Well this is the first time Kevin Smith has made me cry in a comic book. It was like a lovely missing scene from Jay and Silent Bob reboot, and was all Holden and Alyssa. Which was great. And the last line transferred into my favourite scene from the film. So I was super happy. It is great to have Kevin writing comics that aren't superheros.
I have a soft spot for Kevin Smith, and reading this book took me straight back to the days of 'Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back'. Packed full of view askew universe references which is perfect for fans, but would read casual readers someone clueless.
If you do pick this up and read it for what it is (i.e. no prior knowledge of anything) I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Fans of Kevin Smith who some how missed that this was coming out should definitely read it. Its not all new content or jokes for fans as a lot of this is referential to his movies. Still, I can pretend I didn't enjoy reading it.
Can't find the collected edition for vol. 1 so I'll slap it on here. Issue two made me laugh really hard which I was not expecting. Extra star for cracking me up. Great Kevin Smith humor here.
The comedic story plays out like a deleted scene from the Reboot film. The black & white artwork gives the book a unique look. The Bluntman/Chronic portion itself was a fun homage to comics, specifically Dark Knight Returns; a key influence on Smith. Those who enjoy Askew will find the comic entertaining.
