My December Daddy was a heartwarming tale of an older virgin man who wants to be loved and cared for and to be provided with the space to be himself after years of repressing himself due to his religious upbringing and shame. Through Erik, a younger and experienced Daddy, he is able to learn about himself, experience a safe space to let go, and be shown what it is like to be cared for and loved.

While I have been an avid reader of Gay romance/Erotica, I have not really ventured into the Daddy/Boy kink until last year. Thus, I was super happy that one of my favourite writers was writing a Daddy/Boy story with reverse age-gap dynamics.

I loved how Erik took so much care of Matthew. He understood Matthew's needs and met them while also respecting his boundaries. I also enjoyed seeing Matthew flourish under Erik's care. Gaining confidence in himself as a gay man and as a person. Learning that shame and internalized homophobia can be let go.

I also loved how Erik was able to address his fears and past trauma regarding his father and open is heart once more to love.

Their relationship, while it progressed fast, (it also felt like a slow burn), was so sensual and sweet, and the chemistry was off the charts. The sex was very intense, hot and, as always, beautifully written. I enjoyed those moments, especially as Matthew was so honest and open about his desires making the experience for him even more special and cathartic.

The word Bussy took me out and made me laugh though, didn’t expect it at all.

I like how in-depth Leta went with showing us the dynamics of the world of Daddy/Boy kink through Matthew and Erik. I appreciate the time and research they took, especially as it is a new world for me as well.

It takes time for the story to pick up - it is a long book, in the beginning, they are establishing boundaries and getting to know one another, and there is a discussion of the dynamics of Daddy/Boy, but once it does, it is very hard to put it down.

Overall, I enjoyed it, the story worked for me! I love Leta Blake's wonderful writing and stories, and I am so happy they decided to dive into the world of Daddy/boy, especially with reverse dynamics; it is becoming fast one of my fave kinks to read about! The intimacy and connection between Matthew and Erik were beautiful, and I wonder (hope) if a few of Erik's roommates will get their own stories! If you love Leta's work, younger Daddy /Older boy, and a Christmas love story this is it.

Please check the author's note. The author's words have been twisted and misconstrued by people.

Leta was very respectful to the Daddy and Kink community in this story. They did extensive research in preparation for this book. She acknowledges that she was not into or interested in the past but has changed her stance. Also not being into something or not wanting to write about a subject does not mean you are disrespectful. I, and I'm sure many, have thought, "Oh no, that's not for me" or "This is weird/odd" regarding many things we encountered, but changed our biases or prejudice by educating ourselves.

People can change, and you can see the length Leta went to, providing an authentic portrayal of the Daddy/boy kink community. They met and actually talked to people from this community and acknowledged them. Let's not twisted words and I would also say, let's not fall into the trap of thinking we are free from fault and not hold past faults of others, especially if they took the time to educate themselves.

This story or writer may not be for everyone, and that is fine! That's the beauty of the world of books! However, giving low ratings to a book you never read just based on another post/review or telling others to not check it out or read it, that is not right.

DNF @ 40%, no rating

It took me over a week to get through the first ten chapters (I average three plus books a week), and I can't do it anymore.

The power dynamic between an older boy and his younger daddy is fascinating, and I can't fault Leta Blake's writing, but this book is painfully slow, long, and mired in minutiae.

I couldn't read beyond the enema scene. Leta Blake is obsessed with enemas (e.g., the infamous enema scene in Training Season), but I know many kinky people of all genders/orientations and not one is into shitting in front of their partner.

To each their own, but I don't find it romantic.

Also, what the hell is up with all the angsty holiday books this year? I just want some cheer and joy, not depressing stories about someone's guilt and shame following the death of their religious parents.

Uh, yeah. After hearing Leta Blake give an interview with @thestylejungle on instagram where she said she doesn't read Daddy kink books, doesn’t WANT to read Daddy kink books, and not only is Daddy kink not her jam, she doesn't like that kink AT ALL, like she was disgusted by the idea, (but no judgment of course 🙄 ) no way in hell am I, a real live kinky person, reading this.

This author’s attitude toward the actual people she's writing about is so disrespectful. Kinky people seriously don’t deserve this kind of awful rep and should be aware of this author's behavior before they spend time and money supporting her.

If a kink disgusts you, guess what? DON’T WRITE IT.

Absolutely loved this book. Very sexy and emotional. The growing intimacy between Matthew and Erik was wonderful, and they were taken with each other when they met in a way that felt very real. (That feeling when you meet someone and want to spend all day with them--been there!) I rooted for virgin Matthew to have the experiences he craved and for he and Erik to find their happy ending. I wasn't disappointed!

DNF’d at 22%. I just couldn’t connect with either MC. I guess I’ve come to realize this author just isn’t for me. I’m sure they are fine for others.

The first six chapters are basically covering just one meeting. ONE. That’s an awful lot of setup for me. Erik can’t get over his last boy and Michael is so repressed it’s damn near painful. I’m sure there was a lot of smutty goodness to be had, but I couldn’t get past the dullness of the MCs to continue.

I’ve also listened to the interview the author gave on Instagram about how they don’t even like daddy kink, so I really don’t know why they are writing a book about it. Clearly, it’s not in their wheelhouse. Maybe this one is for you, but it’s definitely not for me.

Ño, just no!

I love Leta Blake and respect her as an author, I think she has written very brilliant books with unique stories. But this wasn't it.

First of all, it's really long and very focused on sex in the first parts (didn't get to the rest cause I DNF). And this is kink, that normally happens, because in these types of relationships, the bond grows while they play, but this just didn't hit the .ark on that. It felt like sex with cero growth.

Second of all, I believe Leta did her research, but was it necessary to make the dominant be present while the other guy pooped? I know the book talked about how that act was to break the ice, to show trust or something, BUT I SWEAR TO BABY JESUS. that I couldn't recover from it.

I just couldn't shake it. So the next encounters were just yikes. And I know in a serious relationship seeing such things is normal, but the way it was described here, the way it was emphasized? I couldn't forget and wasn't about to get dicked to oblivion to erase that from my memories.

Third, I know the old guy has lived a very closeted life, but he's just too naive, I don't buy it.

So no, I couldn't continue. Left at the second part of the story, boring, it dragged, couldn't get past the shit, and yeah, no.

Couldn't get into it. I usually love books by this author. Mr. Frosty Pants, Smokey Mountain Dreams (which I wish she would write a sequel too) and her Heat series are favs of mine, so I am very surprised I didn't care much for the heroes. Maybe it's my mood. I might try again one day. Maybe.

These men talk too much. I'm quite frankly bored with how much they talk.

I get it... Matthew is new to everything and he needs guidance but at this point, rehashing everything a million times over is too much.

Throwing in the towel....

I can't believe I'm doing this to yet ANOTHER Leta book. Where has the old Leta gone?

The summary sounded really good to this book. I was a bit iffy after seeing Leta's interview she did about the kink world and the daddy/boy aspect. People can change theirs minds on what they want at any time, and this book does talk about that. ALOT. So when I saw this book was offered to ARC read through GRR, I was quick to read it.
While the first part of the book was wonderful, the perfect amount of talking, exploring and safety measures, towards the middle, I had to stop readding and ended up skimming through the rest.
Yes, it's important to understand what a new person going into kink for the first time needs, boundaires to be set and all that, but it seemed to go on forever. With so many books out there these days, I felt like it was never going to end with the talking about it all. At least 90 percent of readers already know all this, so why hammer it soooo hard.
I did want to like it and I tried to push through. But this book just wasn't as good as it could have been.

I went into this hoping for a 5* read because all I ever hear about LB is how great her writing is and while I admit the writing itself it pretty good, I wasn’t thrilled with the way Matthew used his past to have s*x with Erik. It just didn’t sit right with me. There were a few s*x scenes that were somewhat spicy but the main attractions were all based off shame and giving off bad vibes for me. I loved the whole over all idea of this story and how Matthew and Erik find each other thru an auction and the whole Christmassy feel but I just didn’t like how they used “kink” in their “playtime”. I also am not a fan of Daddy/boy trope where the boy is only that way because he had a bad childhood relationship with his real dad. It just feels weird.

So, I watched the interview Leta did with thestylejungle that so many people are bashing Leta about & I think it’s been blown out of proportion. Leta says that daddy books aren’t her jam & it’s not a kink she likes to read but I don’t see the issue why she can’t write about things she doesn’t enjoy to typically read. She said it was out of her comfort zone & initially it was going to be soft daddy kink but she ended up going heavier with it. Leta wasn’t being disrespectful towards people who enjoy daddy kink, even saying “no judgement for anyone who does, please read what you love.” So that’s all I’ll say about that, time to get into my review cause I really freaking loved this book!

This book was long but I read it in under 2 days because I was enjoying it so much. Leta said it was one of the filthiest books she’s written in a while & I probably agree with that statement! But not only was it heavy on sex but it was heavy on emotions & depth that Leta does so well. Personally, I think this was some of her best writing ever or since Heat of Love, Training Season & maybe Bully for Sale (cause I loved that one as well 🥰). But it was heavier in tone at times like Training Season was. Not too much though!

My December Daddy is about Matthew who is a 41 year old virgin who realizes he’s into daddy kink after his very religious strict parents die & he’s able to finally be himself & admit to people he’s gay. He has lived with his parents his whole life & it’s been a struggle since he realized he liked boys as a teen. So he has a lot of emotional damage from suppressing his urges & having a dad who avoided him & a mom who he wasn’t particularly close to either.

Erik is 35 & a daddy on the mend from a broken heart after his boy left him high & dry while traveling for another man after years together. 6 months after the fact Erik’s friend insists he try & get back into the scene with auctioning off a night of being someone’s daddy for a Christmas auction. And guess who the winner of that auction is, why Matthew, of course!

The chemistry between these 2 was so sizzling hot 🥵 & I could really feel the emotions they go through. I even teared up along with the characters at certain scenes that I found super emotional, in both good & bad ways.

Also I loved the Christmas scenes so much & the lodge Erik lives in, oh & Erik’s job was super cool & I loved that he had a bunch of animals that he trains. This book was just so good & for someone who doesn’t read much daddy kink I think Leta did a wonderful job portraying this type of relationship & MDD is one of my top fave daddy books 😍

*This book was gifted to me through Gay Romance Reviews but my review is not based on that fact & I always give my honest opinion.

My December Daddy by Leta Blake
A Boy for All Seasons series #1. Holiday erotica romance. Daddy sexual preference.
Erik Garner is tired of the heartache from relationships that don’t work out. He’s decided one-night-stands will be all he’ll commit his heart to going forward.
Matthew Angel has hidden his sexual preferences his whole life. Bidding on a Daddy experience in a speciality charity auction is unexpected but what a great way to love and learn.
One night isn’t enough for either of them.

Highly sexy and emotional, both fall hard. Neither wanted a permanent or even long-term relationship but how do you walk away from something feels meant-to-be? A holiday winter storm helps make decisions easier.

A superbly written tale of an older boy who finds an awesome Daddy...
Nashville, Appalachian Mountains.
At the Blue Ridge Kink Club's Auction, Matthew places a bid and won.
Matthew, 41, a silver fox, a virgin, an Accountant,

has lost his adoptive parents, is finally out as gay, and is tired of trying to figure it out on his own. He needed help.
Erik, 35, tall, muscled, handsome, military-style

light brown hair, has a degree in sports medicine and a successful business in training folks in martial arts, stunt work, and has a mountain farm with animals and a gorgeous property. His "boy" left him six months ago.

We learn about their pasts and why they are in these situations. We like each man and feel their emotions and needs.

When they finally meet to discuss what will happen, Erik is turned on by the sweet man. They are completely honest in their talks and decision making. They will go to Erik's mountain cabin, and farm for a Christmassy time including a lot of the things Matthew was denied as a child. He's also never been kissed, or had any sex, besides the few BJs he's given. Matthew's religion and the anger he carries for the teachings needs to be purged.

This story is gentle, sweet, sexy and exciting. It's thought-filled and eye-opening. We get marvelous descriptions and settings for our two lonely souls.

They move at a slow pace with thrilling anticipation. There are first times, scorching hot scenes with lovely times, erotic moments, and rough sexy times, too.

I understand the reasoning for Matthew's need to empty himself of the ingrained negativity from lifelong
church teachings. He wants the feelings of shame to stop. It is time for him to enjoy his life on his own terms and embrace it.

The gradual acceptance of himself is fabulous and Erik is on that path with him, because he truly gets it.

This dynamic makes their relationship solid and irreplaceable.
What will happen when the weekend's snow storm is gone?

This is a fantastic story. It makes a grand statement.
ENJOY !

Wow! I needed a moment to gather my thoughts after finishing this book. I haven’t read too many Daddy books as they aren’t usually something I fully enjoy. This one, however, was amazing and absolutely one of the best Daddy books I have read. I was immersed in this story right from the very beginning. I loved the concept of winning a one night Daddy/boy experience from a charity auction and couldn’t wait to see how it turned out.

Right from the start Matthew (the boy) and Erik (the Daddy) had great chemistry. They got along so well and handled their negotiations with honesty and ease. I knew something special would come from their night just with how they interacted together the first time they met.

Matthew is a recently out of the closet gay man who had a rough upbringing by overly religious parents who would not accept him for who he was. I really wasn’t prepared for how emotional this story would be and how big Matthew’s need for a Daddy would be. He has sooooo much to work through so he can feel loved and Erik does an amazing job helping him work out his issues.

Erik was an interesting character. I absolutely loved that he was actually younger than Matthew. He started off showing how confident and in charge he was but we quickly found out that he didn’t have the answers to everything in his life either. I had my moments with Erik when he makes some frustrating choices but he does make up for it in the end!

This was a long book with the bulk of it only covering a few days, but I actually really enjoyed how in depth this book went. I felt like we were with them for all their moments. Not just the exciting ones. We got to experience their relationship grow and not just be told that after a few days they wanted to be together forever. We got to feel this revelation along with them. This wasn’t an insta-love story. More like an insta-need. Their need for each other was so strong and once they gave into that need love grew from there!

If you love Daddy/boy books (or are even like me and don’t usually read or like them) I would absolutely recommend giving this book a go. This is so much more than the usual Daddy/boy book. There are some rough scenes to get through but the growth from those scenes is so important!!

What a unique and brilliantly written story! Leta Blake never fails to push the envelope when it comes to digging deep inside her characters, and I'm completely blown away by Matthew and Erik. These two men undergo an incredible journey in My December Daddy.

Leta Blake’s message of healing, the promise of peace and joy and a future both men deserve… well, it’s truly beautiful.

Audiobook fans already know what a treasure John Solo is, but he delivers an absolutely masterful performance in My December Daddy. Emotional and raw, simply gorgeous.

This is my first book by leta, wasn’t sure what to expect, I did know it was a Daddy book and I haven’t read many of this dynamic, but I really enjoyed the book.

She captured both men’s emotions so well, the play was well thought out, the Intimate private moments were amazing and I kind of feel privileged to of been part of it. It was a raw book for me, I didn’t want it to end, I would of liked to know more about how their dynamic played out in an actual relationship, how real life and play mix and flow naturally but that’s just me being greedy!!! But you do get an epilogue.

This book was a Daddy/Boy read, the Daddy Erik was younger than Matthew and it was great seeing them work out the age gap role reversal.

Matthew lived his life a good boy for his catholic parents, never being loved or true to himself, but after their passing and unexpected plans, lead him to an event where he bid on a December Daddy experience, it was a high price to pay for some learning but he needed to learn about himself and not just let himself keep being used in the wrong and negative ways. In the end it was worth every penny.

Erik was a Daddy, he’d had lots of boys over the years and ended up falling for one that grew and left him. He wasn’t ready to move on or risk his heart again but his friend persuaded him to enter his December Daddy experience in his charity event just to test the water. He didn’t expect an older very inexperienced man to win the bid and become his boy for the night. But fate has a way of showing its hand even when it’s not expected.

I loved the learning between these two men, the care and effort made to keep play safe, the emotions shown with a very vulnerable man and a good Daddy it was great to see the confidence building that Erik helped Matthew to learn and enjoy, and how to play with his Shame in a positive way. It was great to read. I also learned a new word!! IYKYK 😉

There are trigger warnings so please read them first and a list below of some content. There is also an authors note at the start of the book about the kink world.

Shame play
Psychological kink
Daddy/Boy kink
Enema on page
Age gap
Homophobic parents
Closeted man
Hurt/Comfort
Intense emotions
High Angst
High Steam and spice

I enjoy Daddy books and even though I don’t read a ton of them I have always liked them and Leta Blake can do kink so good. This started strong but I soon found it tedious to read. It was just so long. Every interaction was pages of dialogue and a lot of it repeated itself throughout the book.

The Daddy stuff made sense for Matthew who is a 41 year old virgin who just recently came out of the closet. He was so sweet and I loved him. I felt so bad that he felt he had to I live the way he had because of his religious parents. He was not a man who took chances and before he knew it he was still living with, and then taking care of, his parents. Once they both passed away he finally felt free enough to take a step outside of his comfort zone and when he sees a kink auction at the hotel he is staying at he is drawn to one particular prize. He bids on a one night only Daddy experience. He never knew he would be into this but when he sees the pictures he knows this feels right for him.

Erik is a Daddy whose most recent boy left him months ago for another man. He has always had boys younger than him and in his mind he is teaching them what he can for them to leave him eventually. His friend talks him into entering the silent auction to get back into the scene. When Erik meets Matthew he is immediately attracted to him but he would never have thought of a boy who is older than him. When he learns of Matthew’s situation he sees that he can help him. They form an attachment from that first meeting.

The kink scenes are written really well but they were also so painful. This was not a book where I felt the sex scenes were hot. They are raw and intense. I guess I expected a Christmas story that was a bit more lighthearted but this is a very serious story. Matthew has so much internalized homophobia from his upbringing and he is working that out with the sex. Erik knows how to help him but even for him this is intense.

I thought these two men belonged together but I also felt like the declaration of love was rushed. I would have loved to see them after they were in a relationship and with Matthew having worked through his issues. The epilogue shows a tiny glimpse but after all of the pain Matthew endures I wanted to see him and Erik in a place where they lived not just as Daddy and boy but as a couple. How was their every day relationship dynamic outside of the scenes? That sort of thing.

This may take place at Christmas and the setting is gorgeous and the perfect holiday setting but I felt like the story was not a typical Christmas story. I didn’t get the feel good vibe overall that usually comes with a Christmas story. I do wish the book was shorter, I just felt like for how heavy it was it was just too much for me.

This is everything I wanted it to be and more.

You ever get a Christmas present and you pull out the first item but there's something underneath it and then something underneath that and so on - and you're like "how much can you possibly fit in this gift bag; it just keeps coming!"? That's what this book was like for me - literally a gift that keeps on giving. It was jam-packed with all the kinks and goodies on my Christmas List with some added bonuses.

I adored Erik & Matthew and I loved their dynamic even more. I LOVE how detailed and intense this was. While I'm sure readers who prefer quicker pacing may not enjoy the very slow pacing of this, I reveled in it. If done right, I so. fucking. appreciate. when I'm treated with every thought, every touch, every glance - it puts me into a reader subspace where I can effectively block out the world and just focus on the story. It just heightens everything for me. It's also some of the most effective edging I've experienced in a novel. And my goodness are we edged. The sheer anticipation and build of these two getting together was phenomenal.

And the kinks? The communication? The consent? The vulnerability? It was all done so beautifully and I'm so glad Leta took the time to really let these characters develop and unfold - it gave such gorgeous depth to the story! Honestly, I could go on and on about all the things I loved about this one, so I'll just sum it up in a word: stunning.

BUT ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW HOT THE SEX SCENES WERE OH MY GOD ya girl has to do laundry after that one.

This book was so good. I love Leta Blake’s characters. Two men find what they really want for themselves at Christmas if they just have the courage to grab onto it and not let go. I loved these guys. Matthew’s whole life has been a lie. He couldn’t be true to himself or explore what that meant due to his religious parents. Erik always settles for younger boys because he knows nothing will ever last, and he has never wanted it to until his last boy broke his heart. Then Matthew comes along, a newcomer to everything both living as a gay man and to kink and suddenly Erik isn’t sure if one night is enough. This book flips the older Daddy, younger boy picture on its head. I absolutely identified with Matthew, even grew up in the same part of the world as he did, and can verify firsthand how prevalent that religious ideology and toxicity is. It really does make you afraid to be yourself. These two find what they really need in life over a weekend in December. It was so good to watch it unfold. This book is definitely worth a read. It was emotional, sweet, and sexy all rolled into one.

Matthew buys the experience of younger Eric being his Daddy at a charity auction. Eric recognizes the responsibility of handling Matthew's virginity in a sensitive manner. You felt Matthew's angst at being 41 and not knowing what he needed or how to get it. Eric was a respectful and warm Daddy who immediately felt more for Matthew, but Eric is the one who is really afraid to have more in his life. This was a very sensual and emotional book with a reoccurring thread of honesty through the whole book, honesty with each other and what they are feeling and yet not fully confessing their need for each other. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion. I then proceeded to buy it as I loved it so much!

This storyline starts out at a silent auction and gets more interesting from there! These two have a ton of baggage and watching them dig through the past is interesting and painful. I think this storyline is fantastic and developed these characters so well!

This book is intense from the start. It is intriguing to read the story of an accomplished Daddy and a viginal boy. The chemistry was strong and gave great tension throughout. The scenes were well written and not skimpy. I loved the story, maybe it was the snowy Christmas vibe that made it seem more romantic. I hope Nick gets his story next.

Don't read this at night, you will not go to sleep

Y'all I don't know what to tell you, this book was hot. I mean grade A+++ there is not an SPF in the world strong enough to protect you hot. Yeah it was emotional and Matthew was adorable but it was mostly hot. I think I forgot how much smut Leta Blake can pack into a book.

Aside from the smut and the kink which really is what makes this book worth it, it was also really emotional and heartfelt. My heart really went out to Matthew and his struggles. There are times that Erik definitely got on my nerves. His rationale for not wanting to continue things with Matthew made no sense. Thankfully, it didn't make sense to anyone else and he got called out on it multiple times.

Yeah, I don't really have any notes for this. This was just a fun, smutty, emotional and kinky holiday romance. What else could you want? Five stars because God bless John Solo for voice acting like he's Angela Bassett about to lose her home if this movie doesn't sell.

*Update* Yes I read this for a second time. I have a problem. Send help! Leta Blake has found her calling. I better get a second book at some point. That short was not enough

Older boy, younger daddy? NOPE.

Hard pass. Stupid beyond reasoning.
