When The Ties Bind

Rate this book
From the bestselling author of the Gideon Johann Western Series, the Wild Horse Westerns Series, and the Hand Of Western Series comes When The Ties Bind, a story of loss, love, acceptance, and revenge!

With the death of his pa, Wyatt Roundtree not only lost the last of his family, but he also lost their ranch at the hands of an unscrupulous banker and a vengeful rancher.  The turn of events leaves the young man wondering if he’s even capable of surviving on his own.  Homeless and despondent, Wyatt departs Gunnison, Colorado hoping to make a better life for himself.  When father and daughter, Flame and Sissy Calhoun, rescue Wyatt from a pair of highwaymen, the young man finds he’s amongst kindred spirits dealing with tremendous loss.  Against his daughter’s wishes, the boisterous Flame invites Wyatt to join their tribe as he likes to call themselves as they pursue Hangdog Johnson and his gang to avenge the murders of their family.  Wyatt, backward and lacking in confidence, and the coming-of-age Sissy, find their time together to be a source of camaraderie and frustration while they struggle to understand their feelings for one another.  Along the way, each member of the trio will prove their mettle as they chase Hangdog and plot to return Wyatt’s ranch to him.  With unshakable determination and unending loyalty to each other, the three of them will right the wrongs they’ve endured or die trying.

Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page.

Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.

He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.

Excellent read

I really enjoyed this book, especially the banter between the three of them. Just a nice little story of people working together and coming of age and removing a few of the nasty people that make up society.

Great wholesome manner of story telling

This is an action packed story of 3 lives brought together to help each other resolve their individual losses and hardships . It's multi faceted directions and characters won't let you put the book down. Most appreciated to me is the sometimes rugged dialog necessary to portray the characters, but Duane Boehm always keeps the language CLEAN. This encourages me to easily recommend his books to readers of all ages.
Mr. Boehm, keep the stories of the West coming.

It’s hard times in the old west as wounded head home to make a life on ranches, care for families and try to continue with life. Not all is great when Pa Roundtree takes to the bottle, becomes ill and passes on leaving his son Wyatt to struggle. Having lost the ranch to a thieving banker and fellow rancher, Wyatt heads out. Through trial and error, he meets up with Flame and Sissy Calhoun, which turns his life into becoming a bounty hunter. Both hubby and I love this genre’ and enjoyed this read. It made us smile at times and I loved the spark Sissy brought to all lives.

Great Western

I really enjoyed this novel. Father and daughter who meet a cowboy down on his luck, and save his life. After many hair raising action scenes they blended together as a well oiled machine.
Some romance and good gun battles. I highly recommend this novel.

For a western that’s easy reading and a good plot, this novel has done it. No complex characters needed. Just enough action to keep it interesting.
