It’s a match!

Expert matchmaker Lorena finds herself with a most challenging accidental client in Princess Rosamund. The princess has a bit of a reputation and now inline to throne must marry someone suitable, but once she starts getting to know Lorena, the princess only has one candidate for her match in mind.

This was brilliant, an excellent slow burn romance with a lot of drama and plenty of light-hearted humorous moments to make it unforgettable. The set up for this story was brilliant, and the differences and similarities between Rosamund and Lorena made for a perfect match, even if Lorena wanted to remain in denial for the sake of professionalism and success over her own emotions and happiness.

It was that tension between them, caused purely by Lorena’s determination in herself and her business that succeeding that really made this work. Putting her in that position was genius and made this whole situation so much harder for her. I loved Rosamund’s carefree nature, and then when we really started to get to know her intimately learning that Rosamund was nothing like she had first appeared to be.

The imagery for this story really made you feel like you were surrounded by the same amazing scenery and there in the moment with the characters. Some of the places they visited or outfits that Rosamund had to wear, I could just picture how beautiful and regal they were. But what I liked best was those moments shared between Rosamund and Lorena where they were intimate and we really go to know them outside of what the world got experience.

A really fun story that I enjoyed every second of. There were so many moments that had me laughing, and then a few that had me emotionally connecting with Rosamund and Lorena. I just had hope that Lorena would realise that sometimes it is okay if the matchmaker happens to be the match.

The plot of this book sparked my interest, a matchmaker whose latest client is a rowdy princess, and it didn’t disappoint. There was the perfect amount of angst between these two and the chemistry was off the charts. Then there was the steam that was 🔥🔥. And that nod to Breaking Character and Lorena reading it five times was on point.

It's my first wlw princess romance. I loved that being royalty/high society and queer is a non issue (bi princess and a pan prince among a lot of others). The plot is really refreshing compared to the books i usually read : the wild princess who isn't the person tabloids describe and a matchmaker who doesn't believe in love for herself. It's delightful to see Lorena fight between her growing feelings and her want to achieve the job she'd been hired to do. The book is really easy to read, you read one chapter after another quickly without getting bored. It's fun, light, sweet.I have to admit i watch all of Netflix cheesy rom com with prince/princess from fake countries and i always thought : when do we get to see a wlw version? Ivy L. James gave it to me in a better version: with less caricatural characters and with steamy sex!

Love, Lorena is set in the majestic fictional country Iovoria, whose people have an affinity for pears. The beautiful descriptions of the countryside make me want to pack my bags and visit immediately.
Lorena is independent, ambitious, and hard-working. Her parents are critical and unsupportive of the successful international matchmaking business she built from the ground up which whether she realizes it or not, really affects her life. She finds love for everyone else and won’t give herself the opportunity to look fearing her relationship will crash and burn just like her parent's marriage.

The world knows her as Rowdy Rosamond the wayward princess whose exploits are splashed all across the tabloids. Rose is okay with the moniker because pulling all media attention to herself keeps them away from her brother. Rose is outgoing, flirty, adventurous, and attention seeking but underneath that brash exterior she’s a vulnerable woman who is afraid to let anyone in.

When Lorena and Rose meet, Rose shamelessly flirts with Lorena to no avail. Lorena has a job to do, find Rose a perfect life partner in less than a month or incur the wrath of the Queen. Lorena continues to find Rose dates but none seem to click and as the two spend time together the walls they’ve both erected around themselves slowly begin to crumble. Lorena is steadfast in her focus to find Rose the appropriate match but each time her professionalism slips, my heart soared. When Rose finally allows herself to become vulnerable, she’s simply incredible. At her core, Rose is sweet, sensitive, and downright romantic. Her bravery shines through as she works hard to down the walls around Lorena. Their chemistry is off the charts from moment one and the push/pull is swoon-worthy. Their interactions and dialogue are witty, fun, and entertaining as are the chapter titles.

The nod to Breaking Character by Lee Winter does not go unnoticed! Kudos Ivy L. James!

Too Many Grating Moments

There’s a lot I could dissect with this book, but let me just say it wasn’t for me. Plain romances aren’t normally my go-to, and I would say this confirms that.

It feels very Hallmark movie, which I usually enjoy as something I don’t have to think too hard about, but there were too many pieces of this that grated on my nerves.

-Iovoria seemed like it was supposed to be Scotland. A blend of different cultures would’ve been nice
-Lorena says she wants to make her parents proud despite their disgusting behavior towards her. I could understand trying to prove them wrong, but proud?
-Rose is an absolute brat and pulls the same stunt twice despite it not working in her favor the first time
-miscommunication trope. *SMALL SPOILER* Not once does Lorena bother explaining Rose’s mom’s role in all of this *SPOILER END*
-repetition of “licked into her mouth”

The story just felt like it could’ve been fleshed out a little more. If you like sapphic romances involving royalty, this may be for you. It is an easy read, and short.

Please know that there should be content warnings for parental emotional/mental abuse.

'Love, Lorena' is a cute and steamy F/F romance that pairs two savvy and determined women. Both are constantly trying to prove themselves to others but find solace in never having to prove anything to each other. They may come from two completely different worlds but their challenges are not too dissimilar. If you enjoy Royalty Romance stories with lots of glitz, glamour, and sizzle then you'll love this book.

Love, Lorena is a contemporary romance featuring two lovely ladies in a forbidden love affair. It is low to moderate spice, at least compared to what I typically read, and pretty low angst. Princess Rose is hilarious and I’m pretty sure you’re going to love her. If you’re looking for some quality ladies loving ladies romance, you should definitely check out this book.

Fun. Quirky. Hilariously dramatic. This book was lovely! I loved how real Rose felt as a person, from her familial conflicts to her struggles with identity. She was an element of chaos that kept me on my toes with the plot. And Lorena's also an amazing character, it's wonderful to read along as Rose wiggles her way through the cracks in Lorena's walls. The abundance of queer characters is also a delight. Well-written, well-paced, and well-worth the time to read!
Note: there are some steamy scenes, though they can be pretty easily skimmed over if you would prefer not to read them.
