It's a cookbook. Full stop. The recipes I tried all came out well, and everything is written in a way that makes it approachable for home cooks of different skill levels.
The big appeal for me is the theme. Witchy cookbooks have been a schtick for as long as I can remember; I own quite a few myself. There is always overlap in the recipes selected (how many variations on butterbeer does a person really need?) but this book also includes sources that I had yet to see. Better than that, it gives a little synapsis of each source at the beginning of the book for those uninitiated.
This is rapidly on its way to becoming my favorite novelty cookbook to date.
Lovely to look at, with photos of each recipe, and fun to read for any fan of the tv shows, books, and movies featured. But nothing I particularly wanted to cook.
