DI Dylan Monroe and DS Annabella Frost are back, this time investigating the gruesome slaying of Stella O’Neill. Her body was found under Dell Bridge during the early hours of Christmas morning.
With no apparent motive for her murder, the team are at a loss. But the discovery of a second body leads Dylan and Bella into a world of secrets and lies, where people aren’t who they appear to be.
As the body count rises, so does the list of suspects.
The third in the DI Dylan Monroe Investigates series is a gripping, often amusing, psychological thriller with an astonishing twist that will take your breath away... SPILL. YOUR. GUTS.
What a stellar 3rd book to this series. 'Troll Under the Bridge' delivers the same mystery and humor as 'Avaline Saddlebags' and 'I am LunaTIC'. Marcus and Netta are amazing at sending you down the wrong path to guess who is behind the murders, they have fooled me every time and it makes for a great read that I just can't put down. As an avid reader of this series I expected it would get easier to see the signs and figure out whodunit, but the twists and turns brilliantly keep me guessing until the very end. Absolutely love this series and recommend it to everyone that loves a great murder mystery.
DI Dylan and his team try to unravel the mystery of Stella's brutal murder. The deeper they dig they realize that an old case could possibly be related. The clock is ticking. How many more dead bodies will be found before they capture the serial killer? A lots of twists and a good dose of humour. Roy makes another special appearance with his antics! I did suspect who the killer was in this book but not the first two. This series is fabulous!!
I am a huge fan of this duo's work and am hooked by their well written true crime series of books. But that's not to say that they don't write crime fiction exceedingly well too. The 3rd book in the DI Dylan Monroe Investigates series starts on Christmas morning, and with a BANG, as the first victim is disptached in gruesome fashion. I won't spoil how she dies or the circumstances leading up to it, but it's the first of many murders, all tied to a local book group. Without spoiling the theme of the book, the clue is most definitely in the title, and has nothing to do with the nursery rhyme either. As expected, the writing is excellent, and the joins between Newbound and Brown's writing would need forensic examination to spot. The authors can write comedy and sarcasm as well as brutal slayings - it just works. The supporting characters are ever present and filly rounded, as is the wonderful Roy who spits out one liners without taking a breath. Grab your copy today. You will find the storyline topical and relevant, but it also has an underlying theme that when you think you can get away with something because you are hidden behind a screen, somebody will always find you.
Another Brilliant read with this the 3rd book in DI Dylan Monroe Investigates series!..... Both Marcus and Netta's writing is seamless, leaving you to think that this story is written by one person only. Straight away they have you thinking, that you know "who's done It", but you'd be wrong! This twisty murder mystery drew me in and is very hard to put down and not devour in one session! With the usual mix of familiar favorites from books 1&2, its hard not to feel connected to the characters, especially Roy and his hilarious antics in and out of the club. Again Marcus and Netta have thrown in other little questionable and possible storylines, that had me thinking and excited for them to hurry up and give us book 4! I Can't recommend this series enough, if you love murder mysteries and also a bit of a lighthearted giggle, this is the series for you.
Holy Schmoly! I was on the edge of my seat while sifting through the breadcrumbs left between the pages of the third book in this series. I've loved reading DI Dylan Monroe's stories as he investigates murders and mayhem in his town. In this book, there are so many plausible suspects, I never guessed who the real killer was. Loved every minute of reading this story and can't wait for more.
This is the third book in the Dylan Munroe series. I am very excited about this as the first book was one Ioved a lot and the second book was not far behind the first.
Murder mysteries are some of my most favourite reads and with a character that is unique as Dylan you just know that the excitement is waiting.
Dylan is a character that I think was very attractive especially as the first book showed just how strong a character he was. He isn't defined by his job but he incorporates his job into his life which is a lot of fun to read about. After he was shown as Avaline I just wanted more of this character.
The humour of this book enhanced the book so much however it can detract from the story of not done well. The humour wasn't all the time and was put in the right place.
There are some very gruesome parts in this book but I love that as I love everything about this story. Love the whole story so much as it shows a lot of psychology in the why and what is happening.
The character Steve drives me nuts but I think that is what his purpose is at times. He just makes me wish that Dylan would end it with him so I don't have to see him again at times and others I want him to change to that Dylan is happy.
Bella is one of those characters who seems to be interesting and would make a good lead. I do think she isn't always the best as a friend and she seems to be more concerned about work than her family at least from one point of view.
Roy is one that I dislike a lot I find because he just seems very rude and wants to make people fear him at times. He just isn't the friend that I would want.
This is a proper who done is mystery and I love it and even up to the end I didn't know who the killer was or if my guesses were even going to be close.
It is great not being able to figure this out and really makes me feel that the book did its job and that's one way for me to push a good book to great book.
This book definitely had everything. Action and mystery as well as relationship and character building. Just what I always like something to really sink my teeth into.
You've really got to read this book if you love detective stories with a plot that's hard to guess who the killer is. I find it hard to find good, clever detective stories. Most run-of-the-mill ones that I encounter are usually too short or too easy to guess who did it or, in the majority of cases, they are just plain boring with one clue turning up every 20 pages or so. Not so this book by Netta Newbound and Marcus Brown! On every page there's either a new, unexpected twist, a new clue or some exciting action happening. It's funny too. Well I just wish this pair would produce a detective novel every month, no I mean every week, because I get soooooo bored waiting for them to come up with new books. While I am waiting for them to write new books I have to make do with boring detective novels that I find out there.
Another fabulous book in this amazing series! I had my suspicions as to who the main suspect would be quite early on, but also knew Netta and Marcus wouldn't be that obvious, unless there was a big twist. I'll let you read for yourself to know if I was correct or not! As always, the fabulous writing flowed with ease, describing the characters, scenes and plot, at times forcing me to carry on reading late into the night. The plot was fabulous and anyone in bookworld will be drawn in, but also in the wider world where these sad goings on take place far too often. Roy didn't disappointed with his sharp tongue and dry humour and I'm hoping to see even more of him and his future plans in book 4! I just adore this whole series and think it would make a fabulous a TV series. Highly recommended!
Another fab read featuring Dylan Monroe and his team who are trying to catch a killer. I love how the authors write and present this book making it an easy read but with a gripping edge to it throughout ! ..looking forward to book 4 !!
