The Very Merry Mob #1

Mistletoe Mobster

Rate this book

I’m all set for a quiet holiday season.

Then a handsome mobster drips blood through my bookshop.

Fair enough, he’s not being sloppy—there’s a stab wound in his side. And once I get past his stormy eyes and his dangerous smile, I’m not scared of the mobster.

I like him.

Color me charmed when he stands guard outside my shop every day. And when he helps me hang the mistletoe? Forget it.

But this isn’t like the cozy romance stories on my bookshop shelves. The mobster brings trouble, and now there’s a target on my back.

He swears he’ll protect me, no matter the cost.

But who’s protecting my heart?

Mistletoe Mobster is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a wounded mobster and his holiday miracle.

*Each book has an HEA, but the Very Merry Mob series is best read in order.*

This didn’t have a Christmas feel OR a mobster feel, it was all around disappointing and didn’t deliver on anything it promised. The whole plot was rushed and shallow and not hot or ott. This author needs to stop describing her stories as ott or steamy, they are neither. The FMC was basic and barely developed and the MMC was a toadying underling in the mafia and not edgy in any way. I think there was a Christmas tree, maybe.
Don’t bother with this one. It was not well thought out at all. I’m done with this author, her blurbs are deeper than her books.

2.5 stars!

Meh, this was ok. I was a little bummed that the hero wasn't top dog and lacked that alpha aura. Didn't quite work for me for what I'm looking for in my instalove short and smutty novellas.

This one was pretty fast pace it was about Nico a mafia man who was stabbed, and he knocked on Leah bookshop. And girl is a Saint she helped him even if he was scary and she knew he was a bad man. That didn't stop him from watching over her from afar. He wasn't good at hiding, lol.

But things got dangerous when the enemies went after Leah he had to tell his boss that he lied and he wanted something more.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary character, tiny drama, sexy times, virgin gal no manwhore

Leah is working one night when a mobster comes into her bookstore, injured. She helps him and he falls hard.

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. There was barely any chemistry and it was quite boring in places. I struggled to finish it.

SAFETY:
Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, unknown history for hero
OM/OW drama: none
Cheating/sharing: none
HEA?: yes!

A short read, but it was a good read. Well written, and steamy, it was mainly concerned with the connection between the two lead characters, and the storyline was inconsequential. It was a different feel to most of the mob related stories out there.

This was adorable. I enjoyed both MCs a lot and had a smile on my face while reading. This one didn’t have that little bit of angst that I’ve come to expect, and enjoy, like in some of her other novellas. I didn’t necessarily miss it but am a little curious about what it would’ve been like with it there.

Overall: 3.5

To me it felt like the main characters barely had any personality and attraction to each other. The only good parts were the decent dirty talk and the fact the FMC worked at a bookstore. There wasn’t much of a Christmas element here, the mafia part came through the slightest bit…

Leah and Nico

Leah runs a book store that she lives above. Nico is in the mob. He comes to her store when stabbed. She helps save his life. They have an instant attraction for sure. After he save her from a hit man they go to the compound to keep her safe. Things get steamy and go full steam ahead into marriage.

This was meh, I didn't feel any connection between the MCs nor any sexual tension. I'm also tired of reading books where the fmc is a virgin and the mmc is experienced. Yet I always ended up picking those stories.

Nico and Leah met when he was stabbed and ended up in her bookshop. She let him in and called his friend to patch him. Then he got obsessed with her and has been watching her ever since. But when someone attacked Leah, Nico rescued her and brought her to their boss' compound. They spent some time together then got married.

I don't know if there's a freaking plot here but I think all the books in this series have to be read to find out the whole picture. They are interconnected novellas I think.

Like I said this was uninteresting but that can be a me case and other readers will appreciate this.

Leah is a bookshop owner who ends up saving a man from the mafia one night. Nico is injured and she lets him into her shop after hours. After that night, Nico can't get the bookshop owner off of his mind. His answer- start stalking her!

This was just a really fun novella! I loved escaping into Leah and Nico's romance for a little while :)

The couple: Nico and Leah

Romance trope: mafia
Series: The Very Merry Mob
Length: 73 pages

Plot: Leah runs her aunt's bookstore, and one night, Nico shows up for help after having been stabbed by a rival mafioso. She helps him and even though he knows he shouldn't get involved with her, he keeps watch over her. You know, to keep her safe. Nico's boss isn't impressed though and he'll have to please his case to keep his lovely lady.

Commentary: I think I'm just used to mafia books where the hero is the actual boss, not beholden to someone else's approval of his choice of heroine. The fact that Nico was not so high up in the organization made him a lot less imposing or impressive. Imagine being a mobster's girlfriend and having to get approval for your relationship from the boss.

This was a very typical and fun Cassie Mint novella. It had everything you would expect from one of her books and I thought it was really cute. It was funny and managed to be sweet despite one of the main characters being a criminal. The chemistry was good and the set up worked well for me. It was a super quick read that managed to be quite entertaining despite a short length.

Content Notes: Organised crime, instalove / instalust.

This was a fun short story/novella set around Christmas time. Insta attraction between a mobster and a quiet book shop owner. It was well written and there were a couple of steamy scenes after a slow burn start. The chemistry was great between this couple, even though the story was so short, and I really enjoyed it. 3.5 stars.

Despite the fact that this took me ages to read and that I'm not a fan of short stories or mafia romances, I liked this. (In spite of myself.) It felt shorter than most novellas but it was cute. It definitely had all the cringey stuff I'm not a fan of in mafia stories but I'm a sucker for a whirlwind romance. Sue me.

***3.5 STARS***

A cute Christmas mafia insta love novella with all the mistletoe feels.

Leah is working in her bookstore late one night when a stranger knocks on the door. He has been stabbed and asks for her help. She reluctantly lets him in and helps patch him up until his personal doctor can get there. After that he is constantly watching her to protect her in case harm tries to come to her.

It was a cute read. Felt a little incomplete as a lot of questions were left unanswered but probably further in the series. Will continue this series.

the start of the book was quite cute because the Hero was infatuated w the heroine from the moment he laid his eyes on her. i also liked that he came to her bleeding and made her bandaged him up. his jealous moments were also adorable. other than that, this novella wasn't that much different from her other ones.

I suggest only getting this for free if you stumble upon it and want something to fall asleep with, and only if you can’t find anything else. It’s not good. The FMC is naive & almost dumb and the MMC is a mobster- that’s all you get from this novella.

Es una historia entretenida y con el cliché de instove. La historia podría haber dado para más y sacar más chicha para en algunas partes, pero en general está muy bien y te quedas con ganas de saber más sobre Raul

Riveting and addictive! The action kicked in right from the start, but the character's personalities sold it for me. Leah and Nick are fun and connect right away. The rest of the guys are jerky, but I think they'll shine in their own stories too. I have to continue this series!
