It's a PERFECT bingable read, just what I needed. See what I did there? Perfect is PERFECT ❤️
Rebecca is living her best life with a wonderful marriage and a blockbuster debut novel. WOW! Impressive. As her life becomes insanely busy, her marriage starts to fray.
Suzy England is a masterful storyteller. This novel is told in 3 timelines, present a few weeks in the past and also a reflection of many years ago as written in the main character's novel. I absolutely loved it.
It's a fast read, unputdownable and I enjoyed every minute. It's full of love, heartbreak, and everything in between. It's real. It's joyful, It's tearful. It was everything a book about relationships should be.
Perfect is a raw and intimate look into a marriage. Rebecca and Will seem to have it all—successful careers, a solid relationship—but under the surface there is jealousy, feelings of neglect, temptation, and a series of events that could cause it all to come crashing down. There is a grittiness to their emotions that kept me captivated, turning pages long into the night. Their story is complicated by their pasts, and even more so by Rebecca’s newfound success as an author, and the bestseller that mirrors their own story.
I absolutely love a book within a book and Perfect totally nailed it!
Rebecca and Will seem to have a perfect relationship and I loved the sense of foreboding that built throughout the pages. I also loved reading their parallel story within Rebecca's pages and questioning what was true and what was fiction.
England fleshed out her characters so well. I could perfectly envision Will and Rebecca and even more peripheral characters like Georgia. Everyone was so complex and I love learning about their back stories and how their relationships formed and changed. The relationships felt authentic and the feelings genuine.
There were so many big themes and England tackled them all flawlessly. Jealously, love, success, failure, infidelity. Everyone was so human it was easy to connect to the characters and to root for them, even in their flaws.
Perfect was very well written and I'm excited to see what else England comes up with! She is definitely an auto read author for me after enjoying this one so much!!
“Perfect” perfectly hits all the marks on my list of a great read!
From the outside, Rebecca and Will Albright have a perfect marriage. But is there such a thing? Suzy England’s “Perfect” is an inside look at the Albrights’ marriage after a shift in their status quo. Rebecca’s recently released novel tops all the bestseller lists and propels her into a whirlwind of travel for book signings and interviews. Will, a wealthy businessman, finds himself attending events alone for the first time in their married life. What ensues shows us how pride can dance a fine line between adoration and jealousy for anyone.
If you’ve never read England’s work, you’re in for a treat! She writes compelling characters and exposes them from every angle. In “Perfect,” we’re dropped into the story at a pivotal point in the relationship of the characters. I found myself immediately drawn into Rebecca and Will’s world and curious to find out what led them to this point in their marriage. We are led on a journey that becomes a story within a story that divulges past and current attractions, mistakes, temptations, and disappointments. I found myself drawn to unexpected characters along the way, which is another pleasing byproduct of England’s giftedness with characterization. So many surprises! Love it!
I was given an early copy of “Perfect” in exchange for my honest review.
Rebecca has a bestseller on her hands. She is busier than ever, traveling promoting and now a possible movie deal! She is taking Will for granted or is Will just jealous. It definitely is putting a strain on their relationship. Can their relationship survive all the hurt and damage?
This is a romance, but it is not your typical romance. It is really about how people make mistakes and it changes their lives. No one is perfect! You either grow and learn or you fall into a hole and struggle to get out. As a matter of fact, there are quite a few relationships in this novel which are front and center.
It is also uniquely formatted. This did take me a little bit to get the gist. The italic format in this novel is Rebecca’s bestseller. It parallels her life and her love with Will. When Will finally reads it…HE IS NOT HAPPY! This send him into a downward spiral and he almost loses Rebecca over it.
Now, y’all watch out! This book just might make you cry!
Need an all around good story…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!
I received this novel from the author for an honest opinion.
Loved the storyline! A true bingeable read! The message weaved throughout is what unconditional love looks and feels like and the sacrifices we make for the ones we love. “You love…and I love you.” I like how the book starts with the current situation and then backtracks to tell the full story. I enjoyed the story within the story, family secrets, and multiple points of view. There was a twist in the book that is so endearing. A heartwarming story of love and loss that will have you holding your loved ones close.
Really enjoyed this book! Great love story combined with the struggles that even great relationships face. I loved the two main characters main and liked how the author added enough detail about additional characters to make things interesting but not superfluous. Would definitely recommend!
Perfect by Suzy England is my last read of 2022 and boy did I go out with a bang!
First, this is the first book I have read by this author, and I am beyond blown away at this book and just raced off to find her entire backlist!
I am a fan of romance and womens fiction and when I read the blurb for this book I was really looking forward to this book and I was not disappointed.
Perfect takes an up-close look into the marriage of Will and Rebecca. It seems that they have everything that a couple aspires to , but there is so much brewing under the surface of the "Perfect" facade.
Jealousy, animosity, neglect, and like many marriages, temptation in many forms. I binge read this book about love, lost and past regrets.
The characters were complex, complicated, and well fleshed out.
There were secondary characters that were written well and added to the story without taking over.
The character development was written with such expertise that I was so emotionally vested in this story.
Perfect is the PERFECT romance read that you will want to binge read flipping through the pages until its very satisfying end.
I don't normally read romance, but I was excited to receive an ARC of Perfect by Suzy England. It was a sweet break from the heavier literary fiction I gravitate to.
Main character Rebecca Albright is an author herself, which leads others (including her husband, Will) to wonder how much of her blockbuster hit is based on their own marriage. What ensues: broken down cars, international flights, stiff drinks, sick fathers, and misunderstandings galore.
I struggled with Will as a character (I desperately wanted him to be less sleazy), but I appreciated the ups and downs of his relationship with Rebecca. Between them, they share angst and tenderness, heartache and redemption -- basically everything we experience in our own real-life marriages.
Perfect is a quick and easy read as we head into the darkness of winter. Pair with a hot toddy or cold glass of prosecco and get cozy next to a roaring fire.
I love finding new authors. Suzy England is an excellent find and Perfect is a brilliant book! Will and Rebecca are the main characters in Perfect and, in a roundabout way, are the main characters in Rebecca’s new, bestselling novel which is based around her and the people she has in her life, both past and present.
Full of love, laughter, anger and tears, Perfect is a lovely way to spend a couple of frosty UK days (and nights) and for the first time in a long time, I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out what the author had in store for Will and Rebecca. I was mad at them both, and they just needed their heads banging together to make them see sense. I recommend you go out and get yourself a copy of Perfect and find out for yourselves just how frustrating but also how loveable they both could be!
Thank you to Suzy England for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Perfect.
Since I've been teaching creative writing, I've found my critical reading skills have increased to the point of pickiness.
I felt the author failed to give the reader a sense of place, especially with the scenes in Australia. I wanted to immerse myself in the sensory details of a foreign country, particularly the wildlife reserve.
Additionally, the constant shifting of point of view was disconcerting. I wasn't sure if the author was striving for an omniscient narrator or a deep, third-person point of view from Will, Rebecca, Rosalie, Georgia, and whatever character needed a say.
Finally, some of the sentences could have been rewritten with fresh language. The cliche of "heart skipped a beat" took me out of what could have been a tender moment.
Because of these issues, I could not give this enjoyable novel more than 3 stars.
Will and Rebecca are an ordinary married couple with what seems to be the perfect marriage until Rebecca explodes on the author scene. Her book covers much of her own life experience from getting divorced but having strong feelings for another man whilst still married. Their lives soon become ships passing in the night, a wedge is drawn between them as Will struggles with missing the wife he once had, the one who was always around. A touching and heartfelt story of life, marriage and true love. A perfect real to life romance. What I loved about this book Bingeworthy Romance Good pace Likeable characters Honesty about real life Rawness of their story HEA
I am honored to be an early reader for Suzy England’s newest novel, Perfect! I appreciate this #gifted ecopy and am leaving this review voluntarily!
1. Books About Books - I’m on a roll with books about books! I love in Perfect that England actually includes excerpts from the book that our MC Rebecca wrote! It adds a bit of the backstory to our main story! 2. Relationship Tension - Honestly, I feel like every relationship in this novel is strained in some way or another. 3. Pettiness - Ugh. I almost could not handle Will’s whining about Rebecca traveling so much for her book tours and such. Enough already! 4. Reconciliation, Acceptance, and Forgiveness - We see the development of each relationship and the mending of them as the story unfolds. The big theme of Perfect is definitely forgiveness! 5. The Past Catches Up - I loved the end when Will reveals what he has been holding onto from the past! Perfect ending to the story, Perfect!
There was only one tiny thing that I struggled with a tad. At times, I wasn’t 100% sure what time period I was in with Will and Rebecca. It didn’t deter my reading progress at all, but I think some chapter headings or something would’ve been nice!
Man I flew threw this one! Such an engaging, binge-worthy read. A peek inside a marriage that didn’t start in the best of ways, Will and Rebecca face challenges that just might break them. While I don’t condone how their relationship began, England did a phenomenal job writing an emotional, yet healing read. All of the characters were well thought out, and each had a meaningful place. Not gonna lie, I cried. I hope you enjoy the story within the story.
Had to read it twice, it’s so good! Probably reading it again. I’m in love with the characters, they all remind me of people in my life and I love that. The first time I read it I was at a staycation for my Anniversary with my PERFECT!! This time around I recommended it to my book club and the author came to our book club! It was sooo special I’m pretty sure we all cried at one point in the night. Highly recommend Suzy England’s books! 🤍🤍🤍
Is there such a thing as a Perfect relationship? This book captures the struggles of a couple who seemed to have just that, but the reality is that their careers, their pasts, temptations and jealousy are a threat to their idyllic life. The characters of Rebecca, Will and Kelly are brilliantly written and I love that their lives mirror that of Rebecca's new bestselling book which is cleverly woven into the story. Another great read from Suzy and absolutely recommend to anyone who loves a good, suspenseful romance.
This book is a perfect balance of romance, past regrets, life altering choices, and redemption. The story of Will, Rebecca, and Kelly had me riveted from the beginning, and I don't think my heart left my throat until I read the last word of the novel. England is a master of character development, and those characters lead the reader by the hand so we have no choice but to follow them and feel every emotion they feel. Perfect is a must read if you love a good romance.
