A solid story about marital love and forgiveness.
Since I've been teaching creative writing, I've found my critical reading skills have increased to the point of pickiness.
I felt the author failed to give the reader a sense of place, especially with the scenes in Australia. I wanted to immerse myself in the sensory details of a foreign country, particularly the wildlife reserve.
Additionally, the constant shifting of point of view was disconcerting. I wasn't sure if the author was striving for an omniscient narrator or a deep, third-person point of view from Will, Rebecca, Rosalie, Georgia, and whatever character needed a say.
Finally, some of the sentences could have been rewritten with fresh language. The cliche of "heart skipped a beat" took me out of what could have been a tender moment.
Because of these issues, I could not give this enjoyable novel more than 3 stars.
