Two pasts, one future, and a love that’s not promised…
When Nate’s wife walks out, taking his young son with her, he must face the damage his drinking has done to his life. While his ex-wife might not be acting reasonably, she’s not wrong on many points. Changing a lifetime of bad habits won’t be easy, though.
He’ll need support and unconditional love, neither of which is an option.
Sophia’s mother has stopped her from having a life. Caring for a drunk always has cost her relationships, opportunities, and even her father. When her mother injures herself, Sophia must make a hard choice. One almost as hard as the blast from the past comes in the form of Nate, the man she had a crush on when he was just a boy.
Nate needs help, but can Sophia dig deep and be the woman he needs while facing her troubled past?
Does love stand a chance in the face of addiction, pain, and history?
Sophia is getting paperwork together and wants to go and see her father. She's frustrated that she's believed her mother's lies all these years about her father not wanting her. Sophia is also trying to help Nate give up alcohol.
Nate waited around for Sophia and her support to go to his first AA meeting. She was tied up much longer with a friend then she'd anticipated and came after the meeting. The leader of that session let her know that Nate was there, but not up to attending without her. She went to his house and found him drinking. They threw it out and he was able to go over 3 weeks without a drink. Then a weak moment happened and he thought he could control everything, but he couldn't and called Sophia who jumped out of bed, as it was very late at night and met him at the bridge...
Received an early copy for my honest and voluntary review.
Sienna packed book 5 full of emotional drama as to be expected in a story focused around the lives affected by alcoholism. My heart aches for Sophia. No matter how many times I mentally scream, "Don't do it," she doesn't listen. Sure enough as I predicted in book 4, Sophia traded one dunk, Grace, for another, Nick. This book is charged with tension as Sophia and Nick navigate their personal journeys to recovery. I highly recommend having a box of kleenex and a pillow for punching near you. Sienna writes in away that the reader genuinely sympathizes with the characters. I received this book as a member of the ARC team in exchange for an honest review.
Nate is still going through the depression of his wife Rochelle devoicing him and taking his son Wesley away. He has joined a support group with the help of Sophia. The day Sophia is late to accompany him to the support group he gives into the urge and gets drunk. But Sophia doesn't give up on him but is there as a good friend. She has feelings for him but doesn't tell him.Nate is unable to control his drinking habits and tries to end his life . A chilling finish. I am on the ARC term and I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
This book to me is the side of what an alcoholic goes through when trying to get clean. And the other side of what some alcoholic person does to their family members. It’s harder for some people but I want to get to the end so I can see the results of these two people.
Book 5 of this awesome series does not disappoint one bit! I love the caution for the situation, alcoholic and co-dependency between 2 people what want to assist the other but still work on their own issues. You don't want to miss this series! Highly recommend!!
The road is hard, as both Nate and Sophia are learning. I’m anxious to read the next volume! Very well written- I can’t put it down until I’m finished!!!
