Okay, so I’ve been reading plenty of sci-fi books lately, so I figured I’d look for something along the line Of Christmas theme, and I came across this one.
My first book by this author……… This might have been a quick read, but it was sweet and sexy. And Come on, look at that Santa Claus. Wouldn’t you want to sit on his lap?
The space was filled with women participating in the Yarta, a Majaki tradition in which males selected a female to cohabitate with for ten days as a compatibility test before committing to life pairing.The rules of the Yarta were firm. If a female had any part of her body over the line, she was fair game to be chosen.
Darex is a Retired War hero., In search of his mate
Well guess what, Eliza Toth, human, cultural researcher, and she was close to that line…… he wasn’t sure if she knew the rules…. Darex didn’t care, the rules were the rules….. she was his. She just didn’t know it yet.
It was just a few days before Christmas, and somehow she convinced him to dress up as Santa Claus for the human children on his planet…… Against everything that he believed in, he did it for her. And it was one of the sweetest moments in this book.

Grumpy Alien Santa is a stand alone, holiday novella by Liz Paffel. Every so often you run across a book that just surprises you in every way. Well, this has happened to me twice this holiday season. Once with a previous unrelated novella and now with this one. It’s just so sweet and swoony. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough.
Darex is a retired Majaki warrior. He has spent his entire life going from one battle to another. Now it’s time to retire and he has chosen the planet of Asemsa to do so. He hopes to find a mate and live out his years in peace. As soon as he saw the human woman with the red hair, he just knew she was the one, that she was “his” one!
Eliza Toth is a human cultural researcher. She has been in the field for twelve long years. She only has four days left on this wonderful planet of Asemsa before she leaves for her next assignment. When Darex claims her, he tells her that they will have ten days together for her to decide whether or not she will accept him as a mate. But she only has four days left and then she is leaving. But she will give him those four days in exchange for one thing. She wants Darex to play Santa to the human children at their Christmas party.
This book! The sweet things Darex does to try to please his potential mate. I pretty much swooned all the way through. I have read a few of Liz’s books now and adore her. You can guarantee there will be more.

So sweet and sexy and romantic and full of Santa-can-I-sit-on-your-lap goodness!!!
My first book by this author and I’m so excited to read more from her! She made Darex SO. SWOONY. Who knew a silver fox alien in a Santa suit could be so dang HOTT?! It’s no wonder Eliza became smitten with him and realized she wanted him.
I had warm fuzzy happy feelings all the way through this story. Not only was it adorably charming in places, but it also had some awesome vibrations too…if ya know what I mean. *waggles eyebrows*
I need more of these aliens and I anxiously await the next book in this series!

I don't know if it's because of my writer's block, but I found the story extremely boring, the characters flat, I understand that it's a short story but it really bored me and I literally ended up reading for the sake of reading.

Silver Fox Aliens 👽
Of all the things I didn’t know I needed. A silver fox Santa hot to trot daddy was not on the list. I loved it. You never get to see a beautiful older man looking for love with a woman who is up in age. It is a breath of fresh air in the romance world and I was so happy to read this one. I giggled several times, the stuff was electric literally and the connection was instant. I loved this read. My only complaint was I wish it was longer.

Una historia tan tierna tan hermosa en donde Darex un alien maduro que esta jubilado y ahora se retirará a aparearse y tener hijos ya le echó el ojo a Eliza una humana dedicada a la exploración de otros mundos.
Un romance paranormal donde él se enamora primero y es un cinnamon roll awww es perfecto.
Aqui una frase que me gustó mucho:
«La había estado observando durante mucho tiempo. Observándola en el pueblo y la forma amistosa y servicial en que interactuaba con su gente... lo llevó a enamorarse. Cuando la había visto practicar sus habilidades de lucha y derrotar a hombres del doble de su tamaño en el centro de ejercicios, se había obsesionado».
Lo recomiendo mucho lo lees en una sentada y se te pasará el tiempo volando, cuando menos sientes ya lo terminaste, es precioso.

Cute, but very middle of the road and predictable. Went for it for the length (that’s what she said) and it was not disappointing, just not the most original or creative short alien romance I’ve read. But to be fair, I have read a lot of short alien romances. Haha.

A surprise for Santa
The author leapt right into this story with both feet, and I couldn’t be happier for it. The characters were pretty amazing. We didn’t get as much detail as I wanted have liked, but this is only a novella and she had more important details on her mind. Like forging a connection that will last and teaching an old soldier new tricks. This book was fast paced, but worth the time, and a perfect example of the holiday spirit.

We start with Draxen, scaly green alien man all ready for the mating ritual. Readers are prepped for him to chase down his chosen mate (who doesn't know it yet), the smol human red haired white woman (it's always either redhead or blonde, isn't it?) BUT primal kinksters have the rug pulled out under them when he basically just grabs her and hauls her back to his place, no chasing necessary lol. Bit of a letdown, especially after we're told that the FMC is not only a researcher, but a certified ass kicker who has felled many a Yarta man. (Personally this feels gratuitous and completely unnecessary for the FMC's backstory since she never used any martial arts in the story at all, so it feels like another clumsy attempt by an author to tell us that the FMC is "strong" but it's never genuinely shown on page).
He shows her his place and we're treated to a bland conversation about the mating ritual, and how he wants her but she has to leave in 4 days for another expedition. "You're my mate" "Omg you're so hawt but I can't".
He proceeds to woo her with the cottage core house he built (complete with indoor forest[???] and glowing flowers), wrap her in blankies and cook her food even when she tells him the dish was gross. There isn't a whole lot going for him beyond "I have to be big and stronk and pamper my itty bitty mate". Yes this is fantasy, but there is no riveting conflict here, just timing and an ex boyfriend not even worth mentioning.
The smut was okay. Points for Draxen literally lighting up like a plugged in dildo. Bad Dragon shaped candy cane was a nice detail.
The Santa bit was... A thing. Maybe I'm too Grinch to appreciate it.

This is a very short novella. It was a great story but felt rushed. To much going on to be crowded into so little of a time frame. That aside, I still enjoyed the tale. Alien Santa just kind of gets to you.

Adoring Alien
I chose this book for a challenge that involved a character that was “out if this world.” This is also the first novella I’ve read by this author.
Darex and Eliza’s story was fun to read. The storyline and characters drew me in and kept my attention from start to finish. By the time the story ended, I was wishing this had been a full length book with so much more about this couple.
I’ve read other novellas that were high on spice and low in plot & characters and they always left me regretting losing time reading them. That was NOT the case with this one. I plan on reading Methic’s story, too!

She is pushed into the circle just as single, older males select their potential mates, so he drags her off to his home where she introduces him to the concept of being Santa for the many human children in the village. Then her unit deploys, and he's left alone, but goes ahead to play Santa. Guess what his gift is?

What a sweet story! Darex is a warrior, hardened by a lifetime of battle. But when he sets his sighs on Eliza he is ready for a mate and will do everything in his power to convince her to be his. Eliza has no intention of staying on Asemsa when she finds herself snatched up in the local mating custom. Though they are supposed to take 10 days to get to know one another before them commit to being life mates, Eliza’s layover on Asemsa is over in just 4, and then she leaves on another 5yr mission. Derex is gruff and sweet and Eliza quickly begins to question if the job she has worked so hard for so long is still what she wants, as it doesn’t seem to give her what she needs anymore. Sadly her departure is rescheduled for a few days earlier due to inclement weather, after only spending 1 day with Darex. So she leaves. Darex knows she was the only one for him and in his sorrow of her departure he fixes up the Santa suit she left behind that she had hoped he would wear the the Christmas party she planned for the human colony on Asemsa. The childrens reaction to his arrival is so sweet! And then Eliza walks in, having realized as soon as she left that she was making a mistake she quit her job and hopped in an escape pod to return to Darex. Loved it!

The Yarta is in full effect. A female only needs to have part of their body in the circle to be claimed. Darex has his eyes on a human, Eliza. When she's pushed into the circle, he jumps at his chance to secure his mate. He has 10 moons to win her over. However, Eliza is leaving in 4 moons. She agrees to stay with him for 4 moons, if he'll do something for her. Darex agrees, this will make Eliza see that he is an eager and pleasing mate. She'll want to stay. Only the ice storm lingers on and Eliza must return to base to head off to space again. What' Darex going to do? She's his mate. He decides to honor Eliza's wish for him to play Santa for the humans. There's a surprise waiting for him at the human colony!!
This is a cute story. Not steamy, just enough to add to the story. Over all a quick read.

Eliza stumbles in to a local tradition, so turn about is fair p!ay, she's going to ask a local to be Santa for the human children.
This done in one quick read has a festive tone as children discover Santa really can travel everywhere and find you anywhere.
Eliza is challenged to really look at her life and priorities, and evaluate if things really are as she hoped and wished for herself... or maybe now is time to make a change. Her hero is similarly challenged, in his case with his own preconceived notions about strength and caring... and how others will view him and his actions.

Very Original
I found this book to be very original with a hunky alien besotted with a human female. So much he agrees to play Santa and go against everything that he believes makes him a warrior. Even after she leaves the planet, because he promised. I will never, ever think of Santa’s lap the same way. LOL

Can a story be both cute and sexy at the same time?
Because this one certainly is! I loved it all! The way Darak stalked her, the way she tried to outfit him, her Santa fetish thing, lol, it was all magical! It's fast read, it'll make you smile after it breaks your heart. A fantastic holiday story that would be perfect to read anytime!

A retired warrior finds love however the object of hisnaffection has other plans...until she realizes that some plans end beautifully leading to a perfect beginning.

Fast but sweet
Was faster than I expected. I was warned it was a fast burn. I just didn't realize how fast. I enjoyed the story wholly. My only criticism would be to build more in the beginning. Set up the story and engross your audience. I felt like I got thrown in the deep end to start with. Otherwise, I loved it.

The first book in the Asemsa series. Eliza a human is on Asemsa and has gone to witness the local mating custom, but she has unknowingly stepped into the circle and Darex captures her. Eliza will stay with him if he plays Santa. I enjoyed seeing them get a happy ending with all the ups and downs they went through. I read this book through K.U. and am voluntarily leaving a review.
