Here’s a big book for our littlest readers : DK’s “My Very Important” series breaks down a topic into many illustrated sections, set out thematically to help the young reader sequence from one to one to the next.

In Human Body, we learn the very basics of human biology, including the structure as well as the musculoskeletal, endocrine, lymphatic systems etc.

What are genes? Have you heard of jumping genes? 🫨 It happened when the colours of corn changed over a generation and an American scientist discovered this happens in humans too!

I love that this book also builds up how what we are physically could also reflect our personality. Afterall, we communicate with body language and facial expressions and voice, don’t we?

Foods and exercise, sleep, the body’s defences, etc — such a fun, comprehensive study for our 5-7 (younger if you read together with them!) and I always say science is always first experienced, before we actually go to school for it.

Its a cute book for teaching children about what their bodies do and why. Very useful and easy to understand text although some words might be hard to say since they are body terms.
