Clara’s dream is to run her uncle’s resort and educate people about marine life and how to take care of it. There is only one problem; her uncle wants her to get married.
Jonah is a navy SEAL discharged from service as he got injured while in service.
More than half of the book is about Clara complaining about her husband. We only come to see Jonah in the second half of the book.
A storm gets them together at last.
I enjoyed the second part of the story.

Clara is looking for a husband and is in a hurry. Her Uncle Red is getting near to retiring from his beloved Blue Crown Resort on the atoll of Creciente Caye, off Belize. She spent much of her childhood with him at the resort and on the nearby islands and grew up to love the area and its habitats. She studied oceanography and is now ready to take over the resort and bring some of her knowledge of studying the complex ecosystems of the barrier reef there, sharing that with like-minded tourists and also running a turtle sanctuary. Her uncle had a heart attack just as she finished her master’s degree, so the need for him to take it easy and retire, is ever more urgent. But he is somewhat old fashioned and doesn’t believe the resort can be run by her alone. Red believes she needs someone, such as a husband, to help her with everything at the resort, so too much doesn’t land on just her shoulders. He also wants her to experience more of life, fall in love and have kids, before tying herself down to the islands like he did. She is desperate to ensure the resort becomes her, that when her best friend Sissy suggests she gets married, then that’s what she does. She has been in contact with ex-Navy SEAL Jonah Landrine for some months, after Sissy suggested him. He is her much older brother’s best friend growing up and has Scuba experience, which is essential for the work at the resort and Sissy describes him as a beach bum like her from way back. He is a good guy according to her and has agreed to the marriage of convenience, while he tries to figure out what he wants to do next.
He was wounded and discharged from the only job he ever wanted, as a Navy SEAL, and this sounds perfect. A tropical island to live on, with a marriage that is on paper only, and he will walk away after two years with his own little island, Libelula Caye. When they finally meet up on the steps of the town hall to get married, he is shocked by her appearance. He already knew she was super smart from their email conversations, but she is exactly what he goes for. She thinks his flinching meant that he hated her curvy looks, but nothing could be further from the truth! She sold him on the idea she only needed a husband for purely practical reasons and nothing else, so he will have to keep his distance before he succumbs to her body. He appears occasionally, such as a few weeks after their wedding, when Clara meets up with her Uncle Red in Houston for lunch, so she can introduce him. Jonah and Red get on like a house on fire, with their love of diving and their favourite dive sites all around the world. She tries to keep him up to date with when she is visiting the resort, but he doesn’t sound interested and shuts her down when she uses the term ‘hubby’ for him! It is months until they are in contact again and that seems to be the way their marriage is going to continue, with Clara believing he hates the very thought of touching her or being near her, when the absolute opposite is true. When his mother somehow finds out, it starts a friendship off between his mother and Clara, which he doesn’t appreciate. He then ends up blocking her calls and emails, leaving her unable to even contact him at all. Clara finds out months afterwards that he is actually in Belize and has set up on the island he is to inherit after their marriage ends, along with the seldom staffed turtle research and rescue station.
When a tropical storm warning comes, with the strong possibility that it will be upgraded to a hurricane, Clara does what she needs to and orders the evacuation of the resort and its staff. Just as they get the last of the supplies and people on board, she hears that Jonah has stayed behind and has no way off his island if the worst happens, having sent away the boat. She takes the smaller boat over to him and tries to persuade him to leave, but he is determined to stay, saying her can’t abandon the locals, two injured turtles that he has housed in the sturdy brick cottage he had built there. Clara decides that if he won’t leave, then neither will she and they end up in close quarters to each other for the night! They are still at loggerheads about their feelings for each other and it is only by accident that Clara finally sees the effect she has on him! Even though they get together temporarily, he doesn’t go any further, believing he is all wrong for her and that she can do better. He thinks he is too old for her at thirty six, when she is only twenty four and has so many more life experiences to have! She will have to work hard to make him understand that age is not important, when she could have a husband who wants her body and soul. After only ever having shaken her hand before their wedding ceremony, they have a lot of touching to catch up on and some steamy rides to enjoy together! She can’t resist when she hears the truth of how he feels about her and doesn’t want to waste any more time that they could have been together. A HEA ending for the couple and the resort, as they continue their work to help the turtles and the habitat of the islands in her regular video blogs. A lovely story with a marriage of convenience, where separation was the norm, until life was threatened and they were forced together and eventually realised their true feelings for each other. Another great read in this series of wounded heroes and their battered hearts. I can’t wait to read more of them. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read.

Clara meet Jonah on their wedding day. Clara needs a husband in order to inherit the island that she loves. Her uncle wants her to find love before he gives it to her. So Clara asks her best friend Sissy if she can find the perfect man for her to marry. They’ve exchanged email but have never met in person before today. When they are introduced Clara gets a feeling that Jonah doesn’t like her too much. It not that Jonah doesn’t like Clara it’s that he thinks she is everything he has wanted in a woman. Two weeks after the wedding Jonah meets Clara to met her uncle. They haven’t seen each other since the wedding. Clara heads to Belize and discovers one of the islands her uncle owns has a turtle research and rescue on it. Flour months after the wedding, Jonah lets Clara know his mom found out he is married. Clara wants to meet her but Jonah tells her no. Six months after the wedding, Jonah finds out Clara has been messaging his mom. She tells him his mom called her at the resort. Seven months after the wedding, Jonah mom wants a picture of the two of them. Clara finds out Jonah has been in Belize and never told her. A year after they’ve been married Clara send Jonah an email, about how she feels about him, how much he hates her, she also needs a way to contact him in case of an emergency. She doesn’t intend to send the email but does. One year and three months, there is a tropical storm coming through and they need to leave the island. Clara finds out Jonah never left his island so she goes after him. Jonah can’t leave the island because of the turtles he rescued. One of the turtles lost his back legs from a shark attack. The other was hit by a boat and recovered but gets air traps under her shell. Clara ask him if the turtles can come with and Jonah has to explain they are too big and what they require to live. When Clara finds out the reason he can’t leave she gets her things off her boat and joins him. She brings Taco the parrot she inherited also. Jonah doesn’t want her to stay, but it’s her island too. Clara helps Jonah get things ready for the storm. They leave Taco with the turtles and get to work boarding up things. When they are done it has started to rain. Clara goes to take a shower, but the water is cold. She comes back out to find Jonah gone but his beer half empty and the food warm on the stove. She follows his footsteps out and around the side of the building, but what she sees she can’t take her eyes off. Jonah is jerking himself off and calling her name. When she sees him, she can’t stop herself from lifting her dress and plunging deep inside her. When he realizes she is there he has come. He pulls her hand free and pins that against the wall then pleasures her. When he takes her inside she wants him inside her, but he tells her that she is it, not just now and not just tonight. He lets her go when she tells him he doesn’t like her. He tells her she is wrong, she tells him he never wants to talk to her. He tells her what he would do to her, if it wasn’t just physical, but it’s not just that. He tells her he know she only wanted a fake husband and this marriage wasn’t supposed to be personal. He tried to stay away, but he’s in love with her. She tells him he can’t be and he leaves. She goes after him and asks him what she suppose to do with that. He tells her it’s not her problem it’s his. She tells him they need to rethink what they agreed on. She asks him why he keeps trying to push her away. She tells him to stay and give them a chance. She pulls him in and kisses him, she then asks him to take her back inside. She tells him she’s never been with anyone else. Clara tells him she thinks she loves him too, they get physical and he tells her to shut up. Clara wakes the next morning and Jonah is already up, he left her coffee and a note he’s checking on the animals. She goes to find him, she see the turtles are fine. Taco eyes fall on her, he tells her her parrot is stubborn. Taco calls out Maní to her and she doesn’t have a treat. Jonah tells her he wants a peanut. He asks her if she knew that is what he calls her. He tells her he’s been feeding him treats all morning and he only says it when he sees her. He tell her it’s Spanish for peanut. One year later that go live on Clara’s instagram. They are setting the turtle free in the pond they created behind the resort. She answers question for an hour. Jonah now live with her. Before she can end Jonah slings her over his shoulder and carries her back to their private cabin.

Emma Lee Jayne has become one of my favorite authors and this is another gem. It's an age-gap, fake marriage, enemies to lovers romance featuring a stoic alpha ex-Navy SEAL with a guilt complex and a soft spot for two disabled sea turtles. He's matched with our heroine Clara—a smart, determined, fearless oceanographer who is misled by Jonah's distancing and sternness. Clara thought his avoidance meant he didn't like her, but the truth is, Jonah fell instantly in love the first time he met her at their fake wedding. But he felt he didn't deserved her, so he pushed her away for over a year until they were forced together to wait out a tropical storm on his island. Clara had no idea that Jonah had been living a life of isolation on this island right next to hers all this time, tending to two injured sea turtles and assisting in the research being done there. It took Mother Nature to break down Jonah's walls and speak his truths in order to bring these two together.

This is a novella but it has all I needed to really understand, embrace, and sympathize with these characters. They were introduced in an earlier book that I haven't read but I didn't feel like I was at a disadvantage for having not read it. Too Far Gone stands completely alone without any need for more background. It's part of the “Heart Of A Wounded Hero” series and based on this story, I'd love to read more of them.

Emma Lee Jayne's Too Far Gone, part of the amazing Heart of a Wounded Hero series, is a wonderfully written, slow burn, marriage-of-convenience romance. Clara needs a husband in order to convince her uncle to hand over his island resort in Belize to her; while Jonah, fresh out of the Navy SEALs after a severe injury, is feeling a little restless and lost. Jonah agrees to marry Clara - but as soon as the wedding is over, so is he. Clara assumes the distance Jonah puts between them is because he doesn't like her, as brilliantly told through a series of text messages and emails. But when a tropical storm traps the two together, the truth of Jonah's reticence cannot help but come out. Will these two still be headed towards an amicable end, or will they finally start?

A fabulous, emotional, slow burn age-gap romance that will give you all the feels.

I picked this up to read as soon as I finished Cajuns. Love. Curves. I hadn’t read Emma Lee Jayne prior to reading In Too Deep in the Guidry Family book but I was intrigued by the snippets we got of Clara & Jonah and wanted to know more.

This pair…. A lack of direct communication, misunderstood feelings and yeah, living on different islands, didn’t help them get their act together to find out anything about their spouse for a while after they were married.

So, they had never met prior to their wedding day and there was a reason for the marriage and plans in place for a point down the line but these two were perfect for each other if they could just get themselves out of their way…. Jonah especially!! I got Clara’s frustration with Jonah - even when their communications made me laugh.

Loved how things worked out for them.

This was a fun, quick read and I’d definitely recommend it whether you’ve read anything by Emma Lee Jayne before or not!

I have enjoyed all of the Heart of a Wounded Warrior books in the series and this one is right up there with the rest! Jonah and Ciara drew me in with the banter and drama surrounding this story. She needs a husband to inherit the family business and he needs something to occupy his mind after leaving the Navy Seals. Their agreement didn't prepare them for the feelings that grew between them. Will their agreement turn into a happily ever after for the two?

Clara and Jonah

Clara needs a husband. Her uncle owns a resort, but thinks she's too young to run it and needs to experience life and find love. Her friend sets her up with Jonah in a fake marriage. They spend all of their time apart for the first year. Then a storm is brewing on their island and she refuses to leave when he won't. He confesses that he's in love with her and she decides that she's not letting him get away.

Good read!

A funny, sweet read with a bit of slow burn, but definitely worth the wait. Jonah was a good character but I really wanted to strangle him at times. Classic miscommunication/lack of communication plot. I really I loved Clara, though. Smart, fierce, determined, humorous and a tiny bit awkward. Drunk, rambling Clara was definitely my favorite.

excellent enemies to lover, marriage of convenience story!

I didn’t really know what to expect going in, and I’m glad about that. This story was sad and heartbreaking, and I was really mad at Jonah!, but that last 70%… I’m fanning myself. I HIGHLY recommend checking this one out!

Starring Jonah and Clara

Tropes: Wounded Soldier, Older Hero/Younger Heroine Age Gap (14yrs), Marriage of Convenience, Married in Haste, Marriage at First Sight, Fake Marriage

After Clara and Jonah meet and get married, they don’t see each other again for a whole freaken year and a few more months. The anticipation on when these two were actually going to be on the same page (literally) was such a delicious tease. Few texts do get exchanged between them that had me chuckling. And just when imma’bout to pull my hair… Clara and Jonah FINALLY are face to face on the same soil (sand)… aaaaaand whoa, daddy… it’s becomes a no holds barred between these two!! Jonah and Clara are flint and steel… and when they connect, their spark is instantaneous. You’ll be fanning yourself with their hotness!! Absolutely love them!!

Emma Lee Jayne kept me at the edge of my seat with this one. I love the tension between Jonah and Clara, who are fantastic characters. I sometimes felt like I was holding my breath for greatness … then woosh!! She delivers the awesome over and over again… and I’m applauding like cray!! Truly loved this book!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

My star system: 4 1/2 stars

Too Far Gone by Emma Lee Jayne is a funny, poignant, and heartwarming novella. Too Far Gone is better than dipping your toes in the ocean while a warm, salty breeze ripples over you. I love a good fake marriage, enemies-to-lovers, age-gap romance; throw in stranded and one-bed, and it is romcom gold! Jonah is a broody, swoon-worthy, wounded Navy Seal. Clara is a brilliant, young oceanography specialist whose dream is to run her uncle’s resort and educate people about marine life. Though she’s young she knows her mind and what her heart wants. This unspoken feelings, marriage of convenience romance is hilarious, quippy, and tugs at the heart strings. The way Emma wove time lapses into the story cleverly built up angst and anticipation. I loved Clara and Jonah. When they finally connect, the tension sizzles and their chemistry is off-the-charts. If you like Darcy & Bennett style love story with a Caribbean resort twist, you’ll love Too Far Gone.

This book is part of a 69-book series of the “Heart Of A Wounded Hero Series” written by various authors. I have never read anything from this author before so I guess this is a good way to introduce new authors to readers. My husband is a vet, so obviously I find myself drawn to these books. I liked that this was a fast-paced book, I wished it was longer. The story revolves around Jonah and Clara. He is a retired Navy SEAL. Clara is in need of a husband to inherit the tropical island where she grew up. Jonah agrees to their marriage of convenience to help her. The two get married and are apart from each other for over a year but then get stranded on the island and a relationship buds.

Clara is an oceanographer and wants to take over her uncle's island to do her work. Her uncles tells her that if she marries and stays married for two years its hers. A friend introduces her to Jonah a former Navy Seal. Jonah is shocked by how attracted to Clara he is. However, after they marry Johan goes to the other side of the island and avoids her. When a bad storm is coming Clara goes to him and then ends up staying. Will this give them a chance to be together for real?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This was a fun, intriguing, beautiful story of two people who marry for all the wrong reasons. An older man/younger woman, age gap with a tropical storm and a single cabin. Jonah is a Seal who had gotten hurt and was trying to find his way into the civilian world when he started talking to Clara. He was grumpy and broody where his wife was smart, sassy and sexy. There were so many misunderstanding, lack of communication, and unspoken feeling. The storyline was really good and the characters were lovable. I'm so glad that the tropical storm "Sylvia" blew in to trap them together. I highly recommend this story.

I loved oo Far Gone: Heart of a Wounded Hero. Loved the storyline and characters. Loved the grumpy Navy Seal and his stubborn wife. Clara needs a hubby so she can take over the family business. Jonah needs something to do after having to leave the Seals due to injury. A fake marriage is fine, after 2 years they get a divorce and each gets an island. No problem. Until you fall foe your fake husband who hides from you. With a hurricane coming he can’t escape from her so will he finally tell her the truth that he loves her? I loved this book and would definitely recommend it and the whole series.

Clara has always wanted to one day take over her uncle's islands in Belize and protect the ecosystem there. She learns that her uncle will only give them to her if she is married and is working on a family. Her friend, Sissy, helps her by setting her with an ex-SEAL friend of her brother. Jonah and Clara meet on the day of their wedding on the steps of the courthouse. Once married they go their separate ways but what if something was misunderstood. What if what one thought happened didn't actually happen? It just might take a major act of nature to bring these two together.

To Far Gone is a great addition to the Heart of a Wounded Warrior Series. Emma Lee Jayne has written a wonderful story about a young oceanography specialist Clara who is hoping to transform her uncles resort into a place where she can educate people about marine life. But she needs a husband to make that dream a reality. Jonah a former navy SEAL offers to help her out, by marrying her. This is my first Emma Lee Jaynes story that I've read, and I must say I am very impressed. This is a beautifully written, with great characters and a plot that she implemented perfectly.

Clara needed a husband to inherit her family Caribbean resort and turtle sanctuary. Jonah was medically discharged from the navy SEAL’s and his best friends sister asked him to help her friend. One look at Clara and he knew he was in trouble and in love. They married but he kept away from her as he wanted more than they agreed. Fun story that consisted of texts and emails over the course of a year. When a tropical storm was due to hit the islands Clara wasn’t about to leave Jonah behind but now he couldn’t avoid her or his feelings. Sweet, steamy with amazing chemistry and a beautiful HEA.

"I get a fake husband. He gets time to figure out what he wants to do with his life."

Clara's uncle is retiring, and she wants to take over the resort, but he wants her to have a life, get married and have kids. Her friend talks her into getting married. Jonah has been discharged from the SEALs and is said to be a good guy, but from the moment he sees her, Jonah barely says a word to her.

This is a fun story that will have you laugh at the back-and-forth text. The pages ignite and burn hot when Clara goes to get him off the island while the storm gets closer. Great story from the start.
