Scarlet- Having your overly friendly puppy get loose and charge across the yard to meet your new next-door neighbors is not ideal. Especially when your new next-door neighbors happen to be an adorable six-year-old girl and her giant grump of a father. Bowen- Nothin' could have prepared him for the curvy ray of sunshine that just moved into the 'shack' next door. He also didn't expect to his daughter to rope him into helpin' her with re-shingling her roof for cookin' lessons, but here we are.
This is a grumpy/sunshine, single dad, next-door neighbor, insta-love romance.
I think this book has potential and for what it is I really enjoyed it. I did count two spelling mistakes but as a girl who has read wattpad in her life this was nothing. This book was really cute and make me smile for basically all of it. Bowen's accent sort of annoyed me, it kind of made it harder to read, but he was a cutie pie. I loved Scarlett, her family seems like assholes so i'm so happy she met Bowen and Maisy. I loved how fast Maisy and her connected and wish we got to see more of it. Speaking of Maisy, she and Max are the MVPs of the story.
I wish this story was longer and more fleshed out. Scarlett's and Bowen's romance was rushed to say the least, they just jumped into the deep end. Where's the tension? I would've loved it if Maisy pulled out some schemes and put them into situations. I just wish we got to read more about them as characters, the people around them, and their feelings for each other.
