The hero’s name is Cash Outlaw and that was the least contrived part of this.

This wasn’t terrible but it was so generic, formulaic and cheesy! I need to stop letting Scrib’d suggest harlequin desire audiobooks. I’m in some deep dark hole and can’t get out… send help.

Important Note: I’m pretty sure the Harlequin Desire brand has a rule where an author can never refer to sex as anything other than lovemaking or some variation. 🤮 I hate it.

Well time to go read another one…

This is a Cowboy Romance with a fake marriage, and this is the second book in the Westmoreland Legacy: The Outlaws Book series. I have read and review the first book in this book series, but I do not feel you have to read the first book before reading this book. Cash and Brianna is the main characters in this book, and I have to say I loved their characters. Cash's mother which he did not know just died, and he is trying to figured out what to do with the ranch she left behind. I love this book for the first page, and I did not want to put it down. Since, Today is an icy and rain day this was a great day to just lay in bed and read a book. I am glad I pick this book up. This was a short and quick read, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Desire) or author (Brenda Jackson) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. As a long-time fan of Brenda Jackson, I jumped at the chance to read and review The Marriage He Demands, the second book in the Westmoreland Legacy: The Outlaw Series. The author delivered an angst free and fun marriage of convenience story.

Cash and Brianna’s paths crossed when Cash went to the reading of his mother’s will. Now Cash never had a relationship with his mother, so one can imagine his surprise to learn he was her main beneficiary. He had no interest in keeping the property he inherited, but meeting Brianna had him reconsidering his original stance. (Brianna was also a beneficiary in the will.) Then his relatives convinced him he should keep the property, but to make it a success he needed to buy Brianna’s portion of the inheritance. He made the offer to Brianna, who agreed to give him the property at no financial cost but on one condition. He gives her his sperm. The events became more interesting when Cash made a counter-offer. To find out how interesting you need to read it for yourself.

A quick and easy read, which I read in one sitting. I enjoyed the interactions between Cash and Brian, passionate, sweet and fun. Brianna gave upon on love, but Cash rekindled her faith. These two were awesome together, and I had fun getting to know them. Meeting Cash’s brothers proved entertaining. I am not a fan of his father, who was revealed as controlling and manipulative individual.

I enjoyed the ending. It made me happy to see Cash gain closure regarding his mother. Such a pity it took her dying and he being her beneficiary for him to learn the truth.

A note of warning to readers who dislike insta-love connections, The Marriage He Demands has it in spades so you many want to avoid this one, but if you have no problems with it, then I recommend you add to your reading pile.

Overall, a satisfying read. I am looking forward to continue the series. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

A charming and quick read with a marriage of convenience between a ranching heir and the woman his estranged mother left half of her property to. He's a little high-handed for my preference, but I think it worked for the heroine. Some things were a little unbelievable, but in a way that felt somewhat self-aware it was playing into traditional tropes. A good option if you want a cowboy romance with a marriage of convenience! Thank you to Harlequin for the book, all opinions are my own.

This was such a fun book! Sometimes you just need to read a Harlequin novel, because they literally give you every single romantic trope you love in JUST ONE BOOK.

So, The Marriage He Demands is about Cash and Brianna, two people who meet under very unusual circumstances. His estranged mother just died and in her will she left him part of her dude ranch, while the other half is left to Brianna. Cash is ready to make the dude ranch a sensation again but his family advises to get the other half. When he tells Brianna this, she has an offer: I'll give you my half if you give me your sperm.

OH MYGOD. YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT. Brianna really really wants a baby. So, you know, she does this. Cash is confused at first but he comes around to the idea. But he has an offer of his own. He wants to get married if he is giving a baby to Brianna. As you can notice, this is a romance books with marriage of convenience and a baby in the mix. Brianna and Cash really make this book very enjoyable.

It definitely has insta-love so if you're not into that then you shouldn't read it!

Cash Outlaw has something he wants. Brianna Banks has something she wants. Each has the very thing the other needs. With a very good reason, Cash needs an additional fifty acres to make the land he inherited complete. Brianna wants a baby. Having not been satisfied with her sperm bank research and potential donors, Cash is the perfect solution for Brianna, especially when he appeals to her for a business deal. The fact that he is easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either.

The acreage does not mean all that much to Brianna, but she won't simply sell it. Already quite drawn to Cash, she thinks things could work out perfectly Cash is a business man, a man with principles. He will make the deal with Brianna, but with one caveat - marriage. It could even be in name only, but he cannot imagine fathering a baby in what might seem to be a cold, calculated deal. Cash's circumstances come to a surprise to him, as he had been estranged from his mother. Now that he has inherited the ranch, he hopes to expand it, but cannot do so without the rest of the property. When he meets Brianna sparks fly, and her proposition gives him plenty of ideas and visuals.

I am loving this series by Brenda Jackson! In the first book of this engaging series, The Wife He Needs, we met Garth, Cash's cousin, and he also offered a marriage of convenience. I love that this series follows that theme with this book, The Marriage He Demands. The trope is handled quite well, making for a delightful read that really connected me to both characters. This was a quick, satisfying read that I could not put down. I am most definitely looking forward to the third book in the series.

Many thanks to Harlequin Desire and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Um... It's actually a 3.75 stars for me.

THIS BOOK LACKED PROBLEMS. I mean that in a bad way. The characters didnt have sex/get together until towards the end of the book. Maybe like 70% in or later than that. Which caused a relationship problem to not happen until 90% in the book. Ridiculous. That caused me to be over with the book and characters way before it even ended. It was too perfect.

This honestly would have been better if it was an insta-love story type or maybe had the characters get together around 50% so they had problems and could fix them. This story was definitely not worth my time, but it actually was better than the previous book in my opinion.

Good book. Another Outlaw/Westmoreland bites the dust. Part of the Alaska Outlaw branch of the Westmoreland family, Cash never knew his mother. His father, Bart, a ruthless and manipulative man, refused to allow his wives any custody of his children after they divorced - and they always divorced. He also refused to allow them to have contact with their children. While growing up, Cash believed that his mother abandoned him and never tried to contact him, so he was surprised to be called to hear her will after she died. He certainly didn't expect to inherit her vast dude ranch, minus 100 acres left to her former caretaker, Brianna.

Brianna loved Ms. Ellen. She grew up on the ranch where her father had been the foreman and took over when he died. Learning of her inheritance was a relief for her because it meant she had a home that was all hers. After an earlier heartbreak, Brianna doesn't intend to marry, but she wants a baby. Now she can continue her plans.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Cash and Brianna. Brianna intrigued and attracted Cash from the moment he saw her. Brianna had crushed on Cash since she saw his picture years earlier, and meeting him in person increased the feeling. Cash initially intends to sell the ranch as soon as possible, as he neither needs nor wants it. However, Brianna is equally determined to convince him to keep it. Her efforts gain traction when his brother suggests he and their brothers and cousins might want to invest. Cash, who can't stop thinking about Brianna, invites his family members to the ranch to see it. He also plans to spend an extended time on the ranch and get to know Brianna better.

I liked Cash a lot. He's confident but not arrogant, and he spends a great deal of time with Brianna. He listens to what she says and gives her the respect she deserves. As they work together, going through his mother's effects, the sparks between them continue to build. When his decision about the ranch requires him to purchase the land closest to the river, Brianna offers him a bargain - she'll sell him the land if he provides the sperm for her artificial insemination. Because of the situation with his mother, Cash insists on marriage and being involved with his child.

I liked Brianna, too. She fell hard for Cash. I liked how she wants Cash to understand what happened with his mother but doesn't want to push too hard. I loved that she pushed back on his offer to buy her land with requirements of her own, though his demand for marriage surprised her.

I enjoyed watching Cash in the time leading up to the wedding. He threw himself into doing everything possible to make the day perfect for Brianna. He's thoughtful and sweet and gives the impression that it's not just attraction that motivates him. I loved watching the connection between them deepen after the wedding. But trouble rears its head when Bart's interference comes between Cash and Brianna. Cash's fury vibrated off the pages, and Brianna's hurt and anger were right there with it.

I loved the ending and seeing Cash fight for Brianna. I also loved the confrontation between Cash and Bart, who still believes he's always right. There is also a reminder that none of the Outlaws knows why Bart refuses to admit their connection to the Westmorelands. I'm looking forward to the answer to that question. The epilogue was a terrific wrap-up for the book.

I like the importance of family to the Outlaws and the Westmorelands. Cash counts on his brothers for their honest opinions about the ranch, and they don't let him down. The same goes for the cousins who also came along. I liked the cameo appearances by characters from previous books.

Author Brenda Jackson has done it again with her family stories. I absolutely love it.

Cashen (Cash) Outlaw just received notice that his mom has passed away and she left him something in her will. Cash wants nothing to do with anything regarding his mom, just going to the reading of the will is a formality. Riding in the town of Wyoming where the reading of the will is going to take place, Cash sees a woman and immediately thought she was beautiful and so is the town but he has no plans to check out anything, once he hears what his mother's will has to say, he is on the next flight out.

Brianna Banks, has lived in Wyoming all of her life. Her parents worked on the ranch and that's where she met Ellen (Cash's mom). Brianna loved Ellen and Ellen loved her, everyone loved her and that's why with her death and that of her parents Brianna is alone now. She has been summoned for the reading of the Ellen's will and is secretly excited about seeing Ellen's son in the flesh. But daydreaming and reality are two starkly different things. And it's about to get real crazy now that Cash Outlaw has arrived.

This is a wonderful story about two people from different worlds coming together due to tragedy. But what happens when these two have to make hard decisions that will effect them both?

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao!

This marriage of convenience novel was truly a joy to read! I found both Cash and Brianna to be layered characters that truly came together in a way that was magical and beautiful, despite everything moving so quickly. I love that the third act break up wasn't really a break up, and it was quickly resolved between the couple, and they move forward together to solve the true problem.
All in all, I continue to really enjoy the Brenda Jackson books that I pick up!

Brianna and Cash was a fun time. Their romance was too insta-lovey for me, but I let it go to enjoy the story. I get Brianna’s reasons for loving Cash, but Cash reason was lust only.

I always get warm tingles when the family gets together. The Westmoreland and friends coming to Wyoming to scope out the ranch with the Outlaw brothers was wonderful. I love revisiting them.

That Dad was an arrogant menace. A small town western romance set in Wyoming on a large ranch owned by black people is a book I needed to read.

Quick unedited thoughts. Highly recommend👍🏽

What can I say? If you enjoy reading stories about handsome, sexy, intelligent men with cool swaggers and beautiful, down to earth, strong women with hidden vulnerabilities then you will absolutely enjoy this beautifully written romantic story. Before I go further, I will start by saying that I enjoy reading about this other side of the Westmoreland clan, the Outlaws. These brothers are fine as wine (forgive the cliché but its true lol) with each of them possessing his own distinct swagger.

Cash Outlaw is handsome with an underlying smooth swagger, and I love how he goes for what he wants, and he wanted Brianna Banks the first time he saw her. The feeling was mutual for Brianna. Cash was her fantasy man. They become closer as Brianna helps Cash take inventory of the Dude Ranch left to him by his mother, Ellen, and she hopes he decides to reopen the ranch. The question is can Cash get over past feelings of abandonment from his late mother to see the possibilities of all he can profit from the ranch? The irresistible feelings he has for Brianna is bringing him closer to that point and closer to a love he never expected. Can Brianna also get over a past relationship to accept the love that awaits her in Cash’s arms?

Brenda Jackson is an amazing storyteller and I love how she can draw you into the story but also the characters and their relationships even in a novella.

When Cash gets a call from his mother’s lawyer advising that she is passed away no one was more surprised than he to find out that there was a lot more to the emotional distance between them than he believed and that he has inherited her ranch. He has no interest in keeping the land until he meets Brianna, who inherited 100 acres of the ranch.

Brianna loved Cash’s mother and she was a huge part of her life as not only had her father worked for him until he passed away, but she was working for her as well. She wants to show Cash the possibilities that the land holds as either a horse ranch or a dude ranch rather than selling the lands to someone who wouldn’t appreciate it. They both have something the other wants however Cash won’t agree to it without marriage and that is when the fun really begins.

There was no denying the chemistry between them, but it was the swoony way that Cash wanted to show Brianna that this wasn’t an arrangement but forever that made their romance so heartwarming.

The Outlaws are giving the Westmorelands some serious competition. Jackson has a gift for dreaming up the best heartbreakers in romance and with Cash that legacy continues. The Marriage He Demands goes from slow burn to give alarm rather quickly. Brianna and Cash are a combustible match and it was hard not to feel the burn.

Cashen Outlaw has just found out about his mother's passing. He hasn't seen the woman most of his life. When he is called to Wyoming for the reading of her will, he already knows there is nothing of hers that he wants. When he arrives in Wyoming, Brianna Banks is the first thing he sees and she is all he can think about from that point on. When she is at the reading of the will Cash has to find out what her connection is to his mother. He hopes she's not a sister.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love Brenda Jackson's books. They are short and sweet with a lot of heat. When you first meet Cash Outlaw, he seems a little bit of an asshole. As we get to know him, we learn where those tendencies come from and he gets a little more loveable. I love to see the relationship between him and Brianna. She knows a bit more about him than he knows about her, but that isn't his fault. He always thought his mother didn't want him, but he will soon learn the truth.

If you're looking for a short romance novel, this is the one.

I liked this one but thought it needed to be longer. The relationship was way too rushed. The love was way too quick and it just made it all too unbelievable. I felt like the story was only half told. The previous book was different because the main characters had a long history together. And without that benefit, the instalove was just too unbelievable.

However, if I removed that piece of it, I liked the story and the characters. I will continue on with the series though. I would really like to see what the other brothers get up to. And I can't wait to see their father get what's coming to him!

Outlaw for a husband

Brenda Jackson can do no wrong so she has done it again with Cash Brianna. The passion between these two is so intense you feel it coming through the pages. If you're a fan of western romance then read on. Brenda Jackson is so descriptive you can place yourself there.

This one was good, not truly a 5-star. This was a little odd for me in the respect that the word "love" was thrown in the relationship without even knowing each other. For Brianna, by looking at a photo and for Cashen (love the name) by lust, is not real love. Just my opinion. Bart Outlaw is just terrible and I applaud Cash for standing up for himself.

Nice BJ read!

If you’ve read this author, it’s typical fodder she usually writes. One thing about Brenda is her formula works for her. I enjoyed the ranching setting of this book. I know almost nothing about Wyoming, so it’s nice to see something outside of NYC/LA.

I liked Briana and Cash. Their chemistry came later in the book. Initially the passion wasn’t there. Sometimes that dialogue was a little awkward and a lot of narrative summary, but that didn’t take away from the story. The later half was most interesting and now I’m curious about next brother.

A Very Lovely Story

All I want to say is I want to live on a ranch and the Outlaw ranch in particular. I loved the story and all the characters, most of all I loved the family of close nit brothers and cousins with a baby sister. I actually think it should be a story on the father because boy he had a colorful life though he showed some rightful ways in raising his sons but that's it.

** I received this as an E-ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review, Thank you!**

I enjoyed this book, however, I will admit that I didn't really feel an emotional connection with the characters. The romance was cute and steamy, Their chemistry was ok, definitely felt more sexual than emotional. I enjoyed the plot well enough. Nothing really stood out to me. Overall it was cute, steamy, and easy to read.

Fantastic story

Loved this story of Cash and Brianna. Cash's instant attraction to Brianna was warm and passionate . Brianna's reaction to Cash was instant too; yet surprisingly passionate to her. She had closed off of any notion of love and marriage. Loved their growing relationship. Add the Westmoreland clan, trickery from the obnoxious Bart and a great story is born. Definite recommendation. Cannot wait for the rest of the Outlaw family stories
