Snowball #3

La gattina che arrivò per Natale

Rate this book

How Snowball Stole Christmas by Kristen McKanagh is the third book in the contemporary romance Snowball series. Each of the books in this series take place in the days leading up to Christmas and feature different main characters so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. The characters from the other books do make a slight appearance in the others though for those having read from the beginning.

The somewhat unique thing with the Snowball contemporary romance series is that not only do you get the point of view of the two main characters but also that of the tiny fluffball herself, Snowball the kitten. Snowball belongs to Miss Tilly who runs the B&B in which the stories are set and Snowball is quite the matchmaker around the B&B. This time around though Snowball is staying with Peter for a little catsitting and matchmaking. Peter had tried to bid on an open store space but lost out to another shop owner, Lara, who manages to change Peter’s grinchy attitude in time for Christmas.

I have been following the Snowball contemporary romance series from the beginning after not being able to pass by the cuteness on the covers. Thankfully though with this series my cover love obsession paid off when the stories are full of wonderful Christmassy fun with lovely characters and the most adorable furry matchmaker. This third book in the series had all of what I’d come to expect and now I hope I’ll see Snowball again next winter too!

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Christmas cuteness overload! Snowball is back for more antics and a homemade toy shop being added to the town brings love and Christmas cheer.

I liked the romantic from the aspect that Lara turned grumpy Peter into a more happy guy. I could imagine her toy shop really well and loved the inclusion of the icecream. Besides a new business and romance, Lara also ends up watching her nephew Ben.

It's always fun to read the portions of the book from Snowball's perspective. She's always helping everyone find love, but when will it be her turn outside of her human family? She made quite the messes in this book, but didn't make anyone too upset.

This book is just a light and cute Christmas book and so were the previous books.

Thank you yo Kensington and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

How Snowball Stole Christmas by Kristen McKanagh is the 3rd book featuring a cat called Snowball. The smart, naughty feline lives at the Victorian B&B Inn, Weber Haus, run by Emily, her husband Lukas and Miss Tilly (Lukas's great-aunt) and Sophie Heidt is the manager there. Emily has a brother, Peter Diemer who runs the family bookshop, which is attached to the hotel. Lara Wolfe has returned to Braunfels to open a toy shop and she and Peter have met before when she stayed at the B&B. Peter wants to move the bookshop to new premises but Lara needs the same townhouse property for her shop. Snowball believes that the two should be together but do Peter and Lara feel the same?

I adored this hearty Christmas romance which gave me festive feels. The characters of both Lara and Peter have been well crafted and it was amusing to read about all of Snowball's shenanigans; her observations about the humans in her orbit are so humorous! A great little heartwarming Christmassy story that I recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

As all the kids these days are apt to say: “I can’t even” with this book.

Freaking adorable!

Loved it.

Snowball the cat...I seriously believe if every household and business and government (ahem especially them ahem) had a Snowball there would be no more evil in this world. I seriously believe this to be true.

This was a fabulous cozy Christmas read.

I’m so happy there will be a 4th installment. I’m just so sad I have to wait!

P.S. have tissues for the epilogue. Happy tears!

Ludovais - per RFS
.

Another year has passed and as her 3rd Christmas approaches, Snowball finds herself not just with a new couple to bring together, but also seeing a few changes to the happy routines she enjoys with her primary humans and to that dynamic. There are also hints that not only is Snowball maturing out of kittenhood, but that she may not always interfere in a good way in the lives of those around her. But all of course ends happily just in time for Christmas.

Oh, you want to hear about the humans and their stories??? Lara has won the bid for the last remaining shop at Weber Haus's market and is working 24/7 to open her toy store (all handmade toys) on St. Nicholas Day in order to reap the benefits of Christmas Shoppers. Into this is dropped her 6 year old nephew Ben when her judgmental Brother and SIL have an emergency to handle. Lara suffers from a great deal of self-doubt as well. David, who is still recovering from a head wound that had him in a coma for weeks and which put an end to his Navy career, is having trouble adjusting to the changes in his life and also managing the ever-present anger and mood swings that plague him after the head injury. He's also having a lot of trouble settling into his new career as owner of the family owned bookstore in town. Add to it that he's been outbid by someone planning to open a toy store in his family's market, in the last remaining shop where he hoped to move the bookstore, and you know this will not be any easy romance, despite the 'meet cute' and all Snowball's machinations.

This series continues to charm. I know there is at least one more in the series.

Sneaky Snowball

Another cute romance featuring Snowball the matchmaker cat. She is certain that Lara and Peter are right for each other, but her shenanigans almost ruin it . She gets into more mischief and trouble than ever and is still the most adorable cat.

I love these light , clean romances. Just good fun and good times. More laugh's with Snowball , my favorite cat to read about. She sneaks into places and lives of everyone and causes mayhem but everyone loves her all the same.

I love these stories they are a feel good read. I would recommend this book.

Thanks to Kristen McKanagh for writing another great Snowball story, to Kensington Books for publishing it and to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review a copy.

I've read many stories about matchmaking, but Snowball is a rare matchmaker indeed! This lovable, mischievous white kitten decides that Peter and Lara need some help in the romance department, but she definitely has her work cut out for her! Peter Diemer admits that he's a 'holiday humbugger' and he's determined to cause problems for the owner of a new toy shop in town. Will the town Scrooge succeed in destroying Lara Wolfe's dreams?

This story often features Snowball's POV, and author Kristen McKanagh offers a unique and witty perspective of a cat's thoughts! Snowball alternates from bragging about her previous successes to doubting if she's about to fail for the first time, and her observations about the humans around her are hilarious. How Snowball Stole Christmas is a fun, satisfying read for those who enjoy romance, Christmas, and adorable cats!

I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

Grab yourself a cup of hot cocoa and snuggle up in front of the fireplace so you can be whisked away to this magical holiday wonderland. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, as soon as you pick up a book in this beloved Snowball series, you will immediately be transported to all of the holiday comforts that Weber Haus has to offer. Not only will you become enamored with the characters this author artistically brings to life on the page, but you'll also fall in love with the warmth that these reads evoke and envelop around you. Of all the books in this series so far, it's fair to say this was my favorite couple of the bunch. Quite a few familiar faces (both human and of the furry variety) from the previous novels will make an appearance throughout, but Lara and Peter bring their own special personalities into the fray.

It takes a few chapters for this book to find its feet, or paws for that matter, but once it does you'll want to stay in this picturesque town bursting with lovable characters for as long as possible. Similar to the previous installments of this series, this book is fairly low drama from start to almost finish, but Peter and Lara have found each other after experiencing some rather life-changing moments which ultimately impact their unexpected newfound relationship. Upon first meeting, Peter is simply the surly Grinch living next door. It's not that he's your typical bah-humbug character who hates all things Christmas, but rather his sour mood is a result of a horrific accident months before which left him in a coma with massive brain trauma. He might be physically recovered on the outside, but his brain is still healing in a way where Peter's personality isn't quite what it used to be. He's more prone to short-tempered outbursts and frustrations which have left even his closest family members wanting to keep their distance.

And yet, delightfully, none of this seems to phase Lara in the slightest. I kept expecting there to be a moment where Peter's gruffness would prove too much for the outgoing toymaker, but she takes all of his minor moments of sourpuss attitude in stride. The fact Lara doesn't know any of the details of his accident for the bulk of the book, and that she always tries her hardest to bring a smile and laugh to this Grinch of a man, demonstrates just how special a character she is in trying to find the good in everyone. Peter realizes that his accident changed him, but he also realizes that this at-times frustrating yet intriguing woman is bringing out more of the man he used to be. She heals him, she makes him better, and he can't help but fall for her. Unfortunately, he knows it's just a matter of time before the secret of his hurtful writing is revealed.

Throughout the read the author does a phenomenal job of showing the constant tug-of-war happening between Lara and Peter. When Peter realizes his beautiful neighbor is the shop owner who outbid him, he tries his best to stay away, but soon decides to make it up to her by helping out with one favor during a busy moment in her toy shop. Thinking that he was acting out of selfless kindness, Lara insists on repaying the favor, and what follows is an endless back-and-forth of both characters trying to help the other. These benevolent acts bring them closer together in a way neither expected, and those feelings of neighborly kindness naturally evolve into something deeper. Peter's sense of protectiveness towards Lara also grows, especially when he sees how the hard work she puts into her business and loving care for her nephew is leaving her exhausted at the end of every day. He tries to help even more, and starts to voice his concerns that she's doing too much, which of course results in her questioning his actions. Why won't he let her fight her own battles? It was evident pretty much from the get-go that no matter how much holiday magic or meddling from a fuzzy fur ball might bring these two together, the reveal that Peter was the one behind the online vitriol would ultimately be the thing to push them apart. We were all hoping it wouldn't happen, but it was surprisingly the most logical progression that upon discovering Peter was initially behind those hurtful comments about her business, Lara would need to take a step back to consider if she's willing to give her heart over fully to this man.

This read is a delightful bundle of heartwarming comfort. From the characters to the setting, you're quickly enveloped in all of the warmth this small town has to offer.

Oh……this needs to be made into a Christmas movie. Love how Snowball is telling the story and playing matchmaker. Maybe not the perfect matchmaking abilities but that doesn’t stop Snowball from trying.
Peter and Lara had briefly meet before at the Weber Haus. Peter and fellow friends enjoyed flirting with the out of towner, but now Lara has returned to open up a toy store. Unknowingly Peter is upset that the last available store was gone, outbidded by a outsider. Venting on the town online forum Peter was getting nasty, but he can’t help control his temper.
Lara at last was grasping for her dream, moving to a new town, getting a townhouse and finally outbidding the final interested candidate for the last store at the Weber Haus shopping village. Perfect timing to open up a toy store with Christmas around the corner, but then the nasty remarks are posted on the forum, she winds up babysitting her nephew 6 year for a month. Burning the candle at both ends, but Snowball sends her help, a grumpy guy she meet before.
Such a cute fun read….just couldn’t wait for read what Snowball does next. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #HowSnowballStoleChristmas

How Snowball Stole Christmas is a cute Christmas-based romance story with a cute cat, Snowball helping things along.
Peter is struggling after losing his job and an accident that left him with a head injury that has affected his personality leaving him grumpy and bad-tempered. Lara is his complete opposite, but he finds himself drawn to the lovely new toy shop owner. As they grow closer, can their budding romance grow into something more or will his actions before he knew her ruin everything?
This was a lovely read and Lara and Peter made a great couple. I loved the addition of cute little Snowball, meddling in everything and trying to help things turn out well.
This is the second Snowball book I've read and I'd love to go back and read the second book, which I missed. A fun Christmas read.

Although whimsical with a matchmaking cat, the feelings and issues of Lara and Peter are realistic and engaging. The setting at Weber Haus mountainside inn offered a wonderful Christmas flavor, and the surrounding cast of characters were all likeable for me. This is the perfect, uplifting Christmas story and I highly recommend it.

A Christmas Hallmark romance with a beautiful white kitty as the matchmaker what’s not to love. I liked Lara and Peter’s love story so much I didn’t want to get to the eventual break up, it helped knowing that all would be well.

Christmas magic, friends, family, and love abound in this fun story.  I liked Snowball playing matchmaker once again in this beautiful story about Peter and Lara, who met each other two years ago, but a lot has changed for them both since then.
The antics of the sweet cat were so much fun.   I especially enjoyed the epilogue and that there are more books to come in the series.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

When I first checked out this book, I did it just because of the cute cover. I didn't realized that it was the third book of the series. I found myself chuckling several times at Snowball and the humans. When my stack of books finally dwindle to a more manageable level, I will read the first two in the series. Can't wait for the next installment!

This is my favorite of the three Snowball novels. Peter and Lara have a fun grumpy/sunshine vibe for the first part of the book, but Peter begins to loosen up fairly quickly. He is especially sweet to Ben, Lara's nephew. Lara has a few lessons to learn about trust and giving. And Snowball has some challenges to face as she grows up, too. A fun Christmas novel!

This was a very good book. A very Christmasy book with a cat who loves playing matchmaker. Peter is wondering who outbid him on the store he wanted to rent. He meets his new neighbor Lana and he thinks she's pretty and they become close. But there could be more to the eye.

Thank you Kristen McKanagh for allowing me to read your newest addition to the Snowball books, HOW SNOWBALL STOLE CHRISTMAS. Release day for this delightful 5-star addition to this series will be September 27, 2022.

Snowball is the official greeter of all guest at the Victorian bed and breakfast, Wdeber House. She is also the self-appointed matchmaker for the community. She has her work cut out for her in this third tale. Peter and Lara do not have a chance to do anything but to fall in love when Snowball makes up her mind to a match, and they are not the only ones. Let’s not forget Miss Tilly and Mr. Muir.

This is such a fun story told through the eyes of Snowball, the kitten. If you are a cat lover, or just enjoy a cute storyline, you will enjoy this one.

I highly recommend this book. It is exactly what it should be.

Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own, and I was not required to give a positive review.

Snowball is a cat who helps couples find each other and fall in love. The story is predictable but also a fun read to find out just how Snowball’s antics cause a bit of grief but she also does good. I have not read the previous books in this series but I enjoyed this one. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a romance with a different twist. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed my time with Lara, Peter, and Snowball, of course. From the start, I cheered for Lara and Peter, as well as felt all the emotions as they struggled with their own issues too. So many times, I found myself smiling and laughing at sweet moments. All of the characters popped to life and felt so real to me; as a testament to this I want to give Lara's brother a piece of my mind.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year as it brings out the best in most people and the festive lights and carols warm my soul. I can visualize Lara's toyshop and wish I could shop there as it seems magical. I enjoyed the ending and epilogue and the slow burn romance between Lara and Peter. This book is my favorite kind of romance and I can't wait to read the previous Snowball stories now.

I love Snowball’s sweet and sometimes hilarious efforts at matchmaking

This was a sweet swoony Christmas romance which includes three dimensional characters who grow, witty dialogue, an engaging storyline, and low angst. Peter is ex-military who now is a bookstore owner following a career ending head injury and coma. Lara is a toy maker opening her first brick and mortar shop at Weber Haus. Not knowing Lara was the one who outbid the bookstore for the rental space where the toy shop will be located, Peter writes a number of unsupportive messages on the town forum website about the new toy shop. While there is instant chemistry between the Lara and Peter, neither of them is interested in a relationship. Lara, because she’s wants to focus on her new business and Peter because his head injury makes him grumpy and he’s not sure he’s relationship material anymore. But fate and a fluffy white cat step in to force these two soulmates to spend time together repeatedly. The journey to their HEA is a gentle roller coaster ride that will give you all the feels as they each work through their own issues. Rounding out the cast of main characters and one whose POV helps to tell the story is Snowball, a white cat who has a lot of opinions on the behaviors of the humans at Weber Haus. Seeing the story from Snowball’s POV is a unique twist and adds quite a bit of humor to the story. Especially Snowball’s indignance at the humans for consequences that directly result from her choices. This story and series by Kristen McKanagh is well worth a read especially curled up on a snowy day by a fireplace. I willingly reviewed an early copy of this book.

I absolutely loved “How Snowball Stole Christmas,” the latest novel of the Snowball series by Kristen McKanagh. This heart warming tale had all the feels and definitely made me look forward to the upcoming Christmas season. Peter, Lara and the entire cast of characters are a delight, but nothing quite compares to little miss Snowball and her mischievous ways. As a person who rescues cats and the Mama of a white fluff ball myself, I can definitely relate to the chaos and yet utter joy a pet brings to the world. I so enjoyed this novel and cannot wait for the next in the series.
