Her Beloved Dragon Mate is a fated mates paranormal romance featuring a dragon shifter and her mate. It includes a standalone f/f romance and a dash of steamy goodness. It is a quick read in the Crescent Lake Shifters series.

Dragon shifter Ruby and human Hannah are deeply in love but to be declared fated mates there are more steps to be taken, rituals observed. Arizona Tape descriptions quickly immersed me in the characters and ceremonies starting with the Moon Goddess ritual and the lake. Matching marks come morning bring happiness and the hope for a HEA. I noted a few teasers for probable hiccups to come in future books - Drakefield, family acceptance and challenges loom. The series beckons.
I rec'd a copy through Booksprout. This review is completely voluntary.
4 ★ UNO reverse on the usual layout of the fated mate plot. A full 180. I THINK this is a continuation from another story (don’t quote me) but I’ve read so many at this point, I can’t even remember! A cute part 2 (Probably).
When I see that a book is the second book in a series I haven't read yet, I always check if it might be possible to read a book anyway. And I was incredibly happy that in this case BookSprout stated that the book could be read as a standalone, because I really love fated mate stories and I love it even more if there are dragons involved.
What I really loved about this book is that one half of the couple is human. I can't imagine how overwhelmingly weird it must be to be mated to a dragon shifter when you're human and it was quite nice to see her reactions to all the official ceremonies and all the customs the shifter community has and need to be done before a union can be made official.
In this case the book was not about the falling in love part, it was quite clear that these characters were very much in love with each other, it was about all those scary moments they had to live through once they wanted to make things official. I loved their nerves, their doubts and worries and I of course loved the predictable happy ending.
I'm not entirely sure if more explanations about all the rituals were in the first book, but I appreciated how the author threw us in there and didn't explain too much. That means that maybe I don't understand the precise workings and rules yet, but it did feel like I could just experience them with the characters. And most likely we'll experience some more in future books!
I'm already looking forward to reading the next installment!
This book was really low on the angst or conflict and was fairly short to boot. A very light read. There was nothing particularly bad, there just wasn’t much there. The two main characters committed to each other, got engaged and married during the course of the book and there was no drama or any kind of problems leading up to their full mating.
This is a sweet story with no ups and downs. It is nicely written but the story has no excitement. No drama and I don't mean drama as in crazy stuff but a little struggle or a hitch somewhere would make it better. Everything went smooth. I kept expecting something to happen because of small hints but nothing.
This is book two of the Crescent Lake Shifters series and the main characters are dragon shifter Ruby and her partner Hannah, a human. Ruby would love to know that she is going to spend the rest of her life with Hannah, but until they go through the bonding ritual to see if they are truly fated mates, she can’t fully commit. To do this, the pair have to travel to Drakefield, a place full of dragon shifters and other paranormals, unlike anything Hannah has ever experienced. They have already given each other mating marks, but these mean little if they are not true fated mates. The ritual can only be done at a set date and last year Ruby wasn’t quite ready to expose Hannah to all of this, nor trusting in their relationship so far into the future. This short story follows the pair as they prepare for the ritual and you get to experience all of Ruby’s worries about whether a human woman could really be her fated mate. She already loves her, but this would take their relationship and future together, to a whole new level of intensity. There is still Hannah’s very human family to appease, as this is not quite a wedding as they would know it, but they are allowed to come and view part of the ceremony, as they make their vows to each other. The ritual should be done in a certain manner and Hannah jumps in at one point, saving Ruby from embarrassment, but will that anger the officials and the Moon Goddess? So much relies on a hectic event to do with the lake and whether their bond will allow them to find each other. Then the next day will show them the truth of everything. A pleasant, yet far too short read, but it gives you a flavour of more to come in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above. 3 ½ - 4 stars
My kindle said this was book two and that I’d read book one. (It obviously lied. Though Amazon now has this as book eight, so I really have no idea). For a series of short books, this is a super short book. Literally half the length of the others, and it suffers for it. I never really felt a connection between those two, and I actually thought they were going to end up mated to other people. That’s how little I felt their love. It’s quite ticking of boxes like a list of things that need to happen in the story and not so much actually showing you anything. There’s not much going on in here. Definitely not my favourite in this world.
I am a big fan of Arizona! I own about 20 of her books (including collaborations with Laura Greenwood). She never fails to capture me with her writing. This was different for me since it was my first f/f series. I found the plot to be engaging as well as the characters and world. I definitely will keep reading her books! Please note, this review is not long because I am a 100% disabled vet with bad hand tremors secondary to Parkinson’s (I’m not looking for sympathy…it’s just the way it is). It took almost 2 hours to write this short post so Arizona please forgive the brevity and my only putting “stars” on many of my reviews) Rich
This story starts partway through the characters relationship, the two of them already in love, with Ruby and Hannah about to take part in a ritual to see if they are more than just girlfriends - if they are, in fact, fated mates. And from there, the bliss and happiness that follows. It's light, short, low angst, and relatively plot free.
I'm also not sure exactly where it fits in the series - it's listed as being #8 on the zon, and yet the main shifter of book 1 (Kendra, from Rival Dragon mate) is single in this book, and some reviews list it as book 2, and it was published first.
At just under 100 pages, readers are taken along more the actual recognition of fated mates and the ritual aspects versus any angst, character meetings, or love plot. Is that a problem? Nah- but also know that this is #6 in a series and while a lot mention easy stand alone readability (and I do agree) just know by doing that I think the grand scheme of the world and characters are lost a bit and the appreciation one might hold for this couple doesn't reach full potential in the short novella.
A light and fluffy story about a dragon shifter and her nuptials with a human woman. It is a sequel but can be read as a standalone. The wedding prep never seemeda as easy as in this book :) There’s no conflict, except for a brief mention of a former foe, nothing disturbs the peace of the loving couple. Great fluff with some unique takes on the whole shifter trope.
While I found the story enjoyable overall, I noticed that after reading a few of them, they tend to follow a similar pattern. The beginnings are quite alike, and the plot doesn't develop significantly. However, it remains a charming story. Perhaps a bit more variety in the storylines would enhance the experience.
This was a sweet shifter romance that had fantastic characters and an interesting storyline. Arizona Tape did a wonderful job, as usual, in making her characters come alive in her story. A good read.
I like this paranormal live story! Ruby and Hannah are quite good together, and their interactions, their thoughts and emotions are quite suspenseful to read. An quite enjoyable short story!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ruby and Hannah are having a mating ceremony, not a human wedding. Their matching mating marks burn when they are together. This quick read is chock full of romance and a little bit of steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.
Amazon said this could be a standalone, but I really did feel like I was missing something as I read it. The relationship between Hannah and Ruby was sweet, but it was a little short with missing details that left me wanting a bit more.
Ruby & Hannah are eager to find out if the Moon Goddess has granted them the mating mark. Will they get everything they hoped for, or go against tradition to be together? This was a quick lunch time read, check it out!
Wow, what a fantastic love story. I loved the way the main characters were together, so in love, it was embedded throughout the story it was incredible, definitely a must-read congratulations
This is a short sweet story of two lovers as they take the final steps of engagement and marriage in a very short period of time. They have concerns and niggling doubts. Ruby and Hannah work through this with the help of family and friends.
Not so much a book, more like a short novella. Everything was very rushed with no real character development, and very little story. The epilogue sneaks up on you because you’re expecting something to happen. Best left on the shelf unfortunately.
This was boring. There was no conflict or tension. I had thought that the arrival of the sister might have brought some. The possibility was mentioned but she arrived and then was no longer part of the story. There was no character development. It was so sweet and so disappointing.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It was a nice story about dragon mating customs. Ruby and Hannah are in love and choose a dragon mating.
