The hardships of the EMP… …threaten the whole of Burning Hollow. Can the town safeguard its resources from the bold new threats? With a blistering wave of ground assaults now crushing Knoxville, foreign troops engage in wholesale slaughter, forcing small pockets of survivors to flee in a mass exodus. Wyatt Rutledge has led an assemblage of refugees to the safety of Burning Hollow, but their salvation presents the gravest of threats to the Banks family farm and everyone else in the holler. Compelled to choose between self-preservation and compassion, the unofficial town council must make a host of tough decisions, one of which is how to defend Burning Hollow. The outcome of their decisions will not only tear at the very fabric of the town, it will force the new militia to hold the line against a nasty war that few are equipped to fight. Starvation is the consequence of poor preparation, but death will come to those unwilling or unable to defend their homesteads, which is the predicament the Banks family now faces. With winter coming, national conflicts unfolding, and the question of how to handle a pack of unruly refugees unanswered, the effects of a fallen civilization are both startling and real. Unfortunately, this war is about to level up, all but guaranteeing the fall of Burning Hollow in the days and weeks to come. Who will survive and who will perish? And who will rise to the call of the town to do what so many others cannot or will not do?
Experience USA Today Bestselling Author and #1 Post-Apocalyptic Fiction Author, Ryan Schow, at his very best in this tour de force survival series. NOTE: The Resurgence of Patriots is the fourth novel in The Sunset on America post-apocalyptic survival series showcasing the highs and lows of America as she fights for her life against enemies foreign and domestic. While there is hope to be found in friends, family, and loved ones, this epic tale follows a ragtag group of survivors as they fight to hold the line against waves of fierce and unexpected assaults. *This series has no coarse language, explicit sex scenes, plagues, or zombies, but does contain some mild violence similar to that of a PG-13 action and adventure film. Perfect for fans of A.G. Riddle, Kyla Stone, Franklin Horton, Jack Hunt, Boyd Craven, and Bobby Akart. Suitable for ages 13 and up. BOOKS IN THIS ON-GOING SERIES: · THE BURNING HOLLOW · THE ASHES OF THE UNKNOWN · A CONFLUENCE OF TYRANTS · THE RESURGENCE OF PATRIOTS · A COLD RECKONING
But.. The back and forth dialogue is lengthy and repetitive. The rehashing of stories between characters is annoying and when someone new enters the conversation it’s rehashed again! This is not normal for Ryan Schow. The reactive, spontaneous decision making, of a needed “quick response” to sudden life and death problems seem to be extensively drawn out with many words. A lot of things are going on. Priorities seem out of order on the level of danger scale. This series is a good one, I hope the next installment is not rushed, so as to wrap it up with a bow and claim “Done!” We’ll see.
I have been enjoying this series but there is the very harsh mistake made here that any person who prepared for the end of days would have not made. Where is the sound of gun shots or a walkie talkie the road guards would or should have been provided. Four men ended up dead since the author failed to know anybody who served guard duty in the military would have known to set up some sort of signal if the road was breached. Gunshots can be heard for nearly two miles when fired from a rifle. Someone should have heard the guns being fired in at least the last episode.
I'm totally paranoid now. After reading the books and listening to our local news I'm scared!!!!
It's too close to reality and I'm sure I'd you read these you will agree. I'm ready to go out and stock up on ammo for our guns and start buying more nonperishable groceries.
I'm seriously feeling uneasy wake I keep looking around our tiny community thinking of where we'd go to hold up. God help us.
Once again Ryan has returned us to a group of people who are unprepared and barely holding it together. Trying to make sense of a world that’s gone to Hell. Battling their internal doubts of right and wrong while trying to protect the lives of the Burning Hollow. There is pain and horror served up with some juvenile humor that will crack you up. Everyone wants to live but not all will survive. Grab a chair in a quiet corner and follow this motley group of characters that are fighting their best fight. Will they find a new way of life and the peace they are fighting for or will they surrender to the depression of defeat. Amazing story and once again Ryan has humanized the struggle we would all face if this became our world. Really Great read. Can’t wait for the next!
Sorry but some of your Bartholomew character is rubbing off. I've found this series to be a well blended combination of Deliverance, Jericho, the Dukes of Hazard, and Red Dawn. Throw in some humor from the old Hee Haw show and I'm hooked. I hope after some further books there's A light at the end. But..... Anyway going to get book 5 Now I realize 2 fears 1. A lack of conclusion in this series and 2. Real world....... this IS a work of entertaining fiction but how much push would it take to change fiction to reality considering today's headlines?????? This series just keeps getting better each page that I turn. Characters that are so interesting and so evil at times. A couple of new characters to the group as they head out and others who meet their maker through swift justice. The story is intense and interesting to believe that it could actually happen with today’s heroes. Love Catrick Swayze with every book. Now onto the fifth one in the series.
The saga of Burning Hollow is the story of a small town coming to terms with a new world and new rules. Part 4 just spent too much time mulling over the issue of self defense or murder when the truth was there from the beginning. Our main characters did not commit to the hard decisions until the last line of the book. I am committed to the characters and I will continue reading their story.
This is the best and most entertaining series I have read and I have read a bunch of them from various authors. The humor of Rowdy Banks made me laugh more than I have in a while. The seriousness of the story hit home as well. Can't wait to read book five. Keep up the good work Mr. Schow
Another great book from Ryan Schow! His books are always filled with humor but with his characters having to find the strength to carry on in a world filled with heartbreak and terror making you realize and think this could happen in the real world. I recommend reading this series!
I don’t usually leave written reviews but this book requires one. The author gives a great description of what is going on with our society these days in regards to the massive division created by our politicians and by mass media. If such a situation ever came to be like an EMP or large scale war we are going to need each other to even have a small hope of survival. I think some folks will read this book and decide that it could never happen. Those are the same folks that actually believe our media and think our government cares about us. Good luck out there should anything like this book ever happens.
Decent read, but too heavy on propaganda (i.e. US withdrawal from Afghanistan, cancel culture, globalists, welfare and a weasely person who says he worked as a community organizer). I can already guess the ending, Donald Trump reveals himself to be a super hero named Patriot Man and proceeds to destroy all the liberals, illegal aliens and foreign invaders.
Just finished book 3 and I have enjoyed all of them. These books are at a different level than any of the EMP and post apocalyptic books I have read. Good plot idea with America being attack by several of our enemies. The character s and relationship drama is much better presented than in most stories. There is touch of humor and a good presentation of the moral and ethical questions the survivors faced. I'm binge reading the series.
Dark and intense, shadowing possibilities in daily life if such tragedy were to befall America. The characters evoke images of how any person may change radically; kindness sorely tested or abused to the extreme, evil sparking the deep flaws in humanity. A very bumpy ride. I will definitely continue to the next book in the series.
I enjoyed this series and my appreciation grew as I read through the series. I am not sure where the author can go with the one book left as the USA is pretty decimated with great destruction, enemies all over the country, and no way to turn the power back on after the EMP destroyed the power grid. This info is easily found on the book cover so I hope this is not a spoiler for any of you.
I am really enjoying this series. Ryan Schow's humor is awesome. It leads to inappropriate laughter during some pretty dark scenarios. I love it. I highly recommend this book and series. Also, I appreciate the fact that the book does not over reference the prior books as a reminder of what happened previously.
These books have been absolutely wonderful, exciting and full of suspense. Scary as hell. But great read. Our government needs to read these and learn something, because this could happen. Love the characters, love the story line and as a cat lover, have to love Catrick Swayze. Can't wait to start the next one. Thank you.
Futuristic chaos if we don't hold our rule of law country together now.
It is scary to read what could happen to our country if we can't get back on the straight and narrow. No more alternate truths and lies. This all tied in with Patriots who are out numbered but believe in out country and do all they can to try and save it.
With Trump acting like a man with out a brain these books are very interesting because I think we could easily be in the same situation. I know we won't be there because I have heard all my life that America can't be invaded because of so many people that own weapons. But you have written some great books.
This series has captured me and can't wait to get into the next book. Ask yourself what would you do to protect your family, friends and community. We all some day this fictional story will come true. Our country is building up to it.
What an amazing book! I have to say that RC writes the best characters & is top notch when it comes to violence. I was definitely cringing in a few scenes. Can’t wait to read the next one in this series.
Anyone who looks at our country today, may see this coming. A very deep view into what can happen or will happen. Be prepared, the best you can. Excellent work, Mr. Schow.
Ryan has outdone himself again! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and up way past bedtime! This may be my favorite one of his series, and I love them all!!!
This is the best post-Apocalyptic series I have had the pleasure to read! It is engaging and realistic. It reaches the depth of human depravity and then brings you to the height of love for family, community and true American patriotism.
I loved this book by Ryan Schow. I also loved these characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of this Ryan’s books. I listened to this book on audiobook.
The resurgents of patriots This is one of the best series I have read and I have read a few. Great characters with lots of action. I wonder what lengths I would go through to protect the ones I love? Be prepared… Can't wait to read book five!
These books have everything! Great characters that are robust and real, a cat that defies description and a story that keeps the pages turning long past bedtime.
I have to say this is one of the best apostolic series that I've read.. And I've read quite a few.. I love the hillbilly family oriented that this is all about..I lived in a little town of Phelps Ky. Pure Hillbilly area.. Keep up the best writing
I couldn't put the book down. I love the characters, you can feel for them and how they make hard choices. It had lots of action, plot twists and some funny moments that had me laughing. Loved this book and all the books in this series
