In my opinion the book has two interrelated goals: understanding how the philosopher and logician Bertrand Russell developed his thoughts about political and social issues and present a theory about intellectuals and the human cognition that can explain the former. I think it accomplishes both in a well executed manner. The philosophy of Bertrand Russell is explained in a thorough fashion, paying respect to the great ideas of the British philosopher but always in a critical way that shows us how, despite the greatness of Russell, he oftens behaves and thinks in a too simplistic manner that assumes false dilemmas or falls under the charm of the most unpolished binarism.
