Philotes Is Having An Identity Crisis. Moros Is Playing Dungeon Master. I'm Learning What It Means To Be A Pirate.

It was probably the wrong decision to go and see Philotes, but I couldn't help myself. Too bad it resulted in precisely what Athena had warned me would happen. Namely, it brought Nyx, Erebus, and a number of Philotes' brothers and sisters over to say, "Hi!"...and not in a good way.

To make things even more interesting, my crew and I got snagged by Moros, and we are being forced to act in his movie. We're playing the role of pirates because why wouldn't we?

The best part (and, yes, I'm laying the sarcasm on quite thick here) is that it's one of those "Save the Princess" quests we've been forced to endure.

Who is playing the role of the princess, you ask? Philotes. Who else?

Gah!

Regardless, we have to do our damndest to be convincing in our collective acting debut or Moros will string everything out. With Philotes being tortured (did I leave out that bit?), we don't have the luxury of screwing up...more than usual, at least. The longer we take to finish our storyline, satisfying Moros' need to see his story played out as perfectly as possible, and granting Perses yet even more information about the grave digger squad's abilities, the longer Philotes suffers.

And they ask me why I drink.

I pretty much laughed my ass off through the whole book! I have enjoyed everyone so far and I can’t wait for the next one already. I would like more Charon! Lots of action, adventure and plenty of laugh are to be had in this series.

Books 3 and 4

The first 2 books were very standard, entertaining formulaic urban fantasy. Very much enjoyed them for eacapism. Books 3 and 4 changed. Book 3 in dream world, random, somewhat disjointed and silly but had and interesting ending. Book 4 with that god lesser god “making” movies was I’m sorry a completely slog and failure. There’s this Perseus is observing to concoct this master plan but nothing in book 3 or 4 really gives ANY detail. Could all be tossed off in a sentence. First 50 ish pages useful, last 50+ pages useful. The rest absolute silliness

Another very annoying fact is characters calling each other dickhead or asshole every other page when they talk. Pet names or not. Weaker writing to beat a joke to beyond death.

Grave Magic (Grave Digger Mythos Book 4) by John P. Logsdon again pits the Grave Diggers against the lesser gods in multiple ways. And of course, Mitzy is still my favorite character.
Grave and his team have to play their assigned roles in Moros’ plays and entertain the audience. It is almost like a murder mystery dinner theater mixed with DnD, but much more dangerous.
And of course, there is a princess to rescue, Philotes.
Action, humor, and pirates! What more can you ask for? Grave Magic is a really fun book!

The Grave Digger team are back in action trying to save Philotes. The problem is they are starring in their own pirate movie thanks to Moros. Until the movie plays out the team is not able to finish rescuing Philotes……And we know that Moros is just gathering information for Perses. But his plan is slowly being revealed. And why oh why are any more gods needed? The team is all in. And of course our favorite dog is in the middle of the action! The plot thickens!

Godly magic

It's taken us a while but the master plan begins to unfold.
As the Team gels together and the members face more of the weird and wonderful ,we see a deeper purpose that gives expressive mental pictures.
It seems the chase is on as never before and raises a wider array of participating mythical creatures.
Still love our Mitzy however as she matches well against our MC Grave to a surprisingly degree.

Pirates? Really?

I expected this series to be a nice take on a battle against the Greek gods in the modern world. It is but it isn't. While Grave Digger's back story is interesting and Mitzy is awesome, Digger and crew just haven't kept my interest. In this story, the team becomes pirates in a story within a story. Really? The ending sets up what will hopefully be an improvement over these last two books.

Fun all around

The fourth book doesn't fail.

The continued growth of GD and Misty is mesmerising. The truth of how a dog can change you is written throughout the series and I love it.

Logston also continues to spin tales and integrate mythology in an interesting way that had me looking up some of the gods.

Truly enjoy the series and this one in particular

Looking forward to the next one

A must read series

I love the humour in these books. This series has all the elements required to make it a great read. I love the characters and their interactions/dialogue with each other. If you like adventure, humour, witches, vampires, death, killing, fighting, great food descriptions and some very wise observations on life to name just a few of the things that I love about this series then you really have to give it a go, you'll be hooked. Happy reading.

Possibly not my favourite of the series, entertaining though never the less. Fellow readers familiar with the gaming scene will probably get this tale more than others, it's a bit like one if those YouTube videos of various people playing computer games.
As I say entertaining enough and it did hold my interest.

Pirates!

Moros has his turn with Grave and his team. Moros fancies himself a Dungeon Master. And a film maker of all things. So he slaps our group into his latest production, the princess (portrayed by Philotes) kidnapping, torturing kind of evil pirates.
You really need to get into this movie!

Arrrr, mateys! What is a gang of grave diggers to do when forced to play pirate for a self-inflated godlet with a flair for bad screenplays? Rewrite the script, of course.
A crazy mashup ensues, and it's so much fun!

First of all, it starts off in a bookstore. That’s how you know it’s going to be good. OK, fine, by book 4 of the series you know to buckle up and hold on tight while the story unfolds around you. Enjoy the ride, or should I say show?

fast paced

This book takes us to the gaming world of a god. Grave, Mitzi and crew play along with Moros in an attempt to rescue a goddess who has forgotten herself. It leaves you hanging as they search for a way to stop Perseus and crew from releasing hell on earth.

great next segment!

Logston is good at giving enough of a long-term story in each book to keep you coming back for more. Am looking forward to March when I can pick it up again. Def a good buy for urban fantasy fans!

Arrrggg! Pirates!

Fun and amusing this adventure had me giggling through the entire stint as GD was forced to talk like a pirate while he fought to save the princess. Lots of fun. Can’t wait for the next book.

Just when you think things can't get worse for our heroes, or the storytelling better from the author, along comes another brilliant book to prove you wrong.

Great Book

So far, every book in this series has been amazing! I really dislike having to wait for book 5 to come out, but I'm also thrilled that this isn't really over yet!

Movies better than books?

The age-old question of what's better: movie or book?

Well, this book has a movie in it! Well, sorta.

It's another fun read of Grave Digger and the Diggerettes!
