I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Alan Lee has become one of the roughly 20 authors whose new books I buy and read as soon as possible. I love the character Manny. I can’t wait to read about his next adventure.
A BRILLIANT WRITER, TWO EXCEPTIONAL PROTAGONISTS AND FIVE AMAZING BOOKS - THE SINATRA THRILLERS
I just finished reading the 5-Book Series by Alan Lee - “The Sinatra Thrillers”. These were the first Alan Lee books I’d read, but they certainly won’t be the last (I’ve already downloaded the first five-books of the MacKenzie August Mystery Series).
U.S. Marshall Manny (Sinatra) Martinez and NSA Computer Expert Nicolle Beck work at the Roanoke, VA Office of the U.S. Marshall. Both are almost complete opposites.
Martinez, who was born in Puerto Rico, came to America with his mother, who fled because Martinez had gotten involved with a Puerto Rican gang of thieves, drug-pushers and killers. After he became an American Citizen and finished school, he would joined the U.S. Army at 19 and became an MP and then moved on to the LAPD. Before too long, he’d had it with LA and fled to Roanoke, VA where he eventually became a U.S. Marshall. His reputation for loving America and everything American, and hating all criminals resulted in his reputation of a ‘cop you don’t want to fu*k with’!
Beck, a Computer Analyst for the NSA, had been assigned to the Roanoke Marshall’s Office as a Computer Specialist. She sat directly across from Martinez and would help him with the paperwork he so completely despised.
Manny was approached by FBI Special Agent Weaver - The Director of the Joint Federal Investigations Commission (JFIC) - and DEA Director for Special Operations (and 1 of 5 Members of the JFIC Oversight Committee) Douglas, who have an interesting proposition for them. They are both familiar with Martinez’s ‘flawed’ files from the Army, LAPD and Marshall’s Office. All files identify Martinez as an exceptional individual with glowing Performance Evaluations and Track Records. However, his insubordination and use of excessive force is legendary… so is his hatred of paperwork and EVERYTHING Un-American!
After explain the JFIC, what it does and who it reports to, they offered him a job. He accepted immediately. He later found out Beck had also been offered a job - they would be the most unlikely-of partners… Manny, the American fashionista and expert shot & fighter, and Noelle, the Mormon ultra-conservative dressed, computer nerd who had never arrested or shot anyone.
Thus began the adventures of Sinatra and Beck - two new JFIC Agents charged with saving the world.
Mr. Lee writes complex characters, flawed Protagonists, and plots and subplots that are so diabolical and complex even Sherlock Holmes would have been confused. The Sinatra Series are the books you can’t put down and walk away from until you’ve come to the conclusion. A real page-turner.
I’ve already recommended this series to family, relatives and friends as well as all my Social Media ‘Friends”. Try the first book… you won’t be sorry.
Alan Lee's writing is addictive. His characters are larger than life and Manny Martinez is More in every way. This book is full of unexpected turns and danger. Sent to rescue an American citizen from Abu Dhabi because of a threat of kidnap by terrorists, Sinatra (Manny) and Noelle Beck are joined by Bronwyn and Junior, their two counterparts in the "Private Sector" of operatives for hire, with whom they had previously made personal connections. Manny and Bronwyn in particular, cement their relationship amid the chaos and Noelle has a revelation. This book was impossible to put down - especially the scene in the desert almost at the end. The end was very sad. Having read all 12 of the MacKenzie August series of which this Sinatra series and the 3 Stackhouse (The girl who would be Sheriff) books are spin offs, I'm in the situation waiting for Alan Lee to get on and write and publish more!
IT WAS GOOD TO SEE BRONWEN, HAVEN'T SEE HER SINCE THAT SPECIAL LITTLE BOOK AT THE END OF "PARADISE ROYAL, BRONWEN KNOCKING". I'D NEVER HEARD OF HOWTHI'S UNTIL IN THE NEW RECENTLY THEN TO SEE IT IN THIS BOOK WHICH WAS PLUBLISHED NOV. 4, 2022, BLEW MY MIND. WHEN I'M READING EITHER THIS SERIES OR THE MAKENZIE AUGUST, I ALWAYS THINK THE ONE I'M READING IS THE MOST EXCITING ONE YET. BUT THIS ONE I THINK WAS THE MOST EXCITING SO FAR (until I read the next one). DIDN'T CARE FOR THE ENDING BUT I KNEW IT WAS COMING. GRRR! ';D
You have to read this author, Alan Lee. He is amazing. I have already read his McKenzie August series and I’m now going to finish with his Stackhouse series. His characters are enduring. There’s lots of action and great plots. You don’t want the stories to end. They are fun and exciting. Please support Alan Lee. I have read 19 of his books in a row and I’m sorry that I only have three more to go. His Sinatra series is full of action with a lovable, dangerous character. I wish you a great reading.
The only gripe I had with this book was the use of clip when referring to a rifle magazine. Magazines and clips are not the same. Although often erroneously exchanged in colloquial conversation, the author should use the correct term in narrative.
That small itch scratched, I really do love this and the Mackenzie August series. Thanks for keeping them coming!
What I love the most about this series is the ability to balance the intensity of the assignments with the characters' humor, which manages to counteract the gravity of the situations they find themselves in. After four books of this series, I expected more lighthearted action. Without spoiling anything, this book takes a whole different turn, and I'm still trying to process what I just read. I have a feeling I will remember this story for years to come. Can't wait for the next installation.
This book is pretty much non-stop action. Manny and the whole crew on this new case will keep you turning page after page. I had to remember to breath! There is still Manny (aka Sinatra) and his funny comments and all American (?) sentiments which has endeared him to those of us who have read previous installments in this series. Totally recommend this and make sure you fasten your seatbelts.
As with all of the books I’ve read on Manny and Mackenzie they keep me on the edge of my seat. I enjoy the references to Mannys devotion to the United States and his references to the Bible. I am a pretty old lady and Alan Lee is a great read for my age but I think for any age. He never lets me down and this book was no exception. Looking so forward to another one.
I read this novel in one sitting. Of course I'm already a fan of these characters. This was a nice thriller with some unexpected turns, and kept the pages turning. Alan Lee is very good with his craft...no Excellent with his craft. I hope everyone will read all his work. Great entertainment. Loved this story line. Well researched, and well written.
The adventures of Manny continue. Never a dull moment! Well researched, captivating, humorous (love the words Manny is not familiar with and makes assumptions), and just the right amount of Biblical references. Mr. Lee has continued his winning streak and success with the Mack and Manny series. Waiting for the next book.
A wild and crazy action story. I only was sorry that it was so short, but that is pulp fiction. I say pulp fiction as a high compliment . The action is nonstop, often over the top, unbelievable, and I loved it all! If you are still a kid at heart ( I am 75, and have been reading pulps for 70 ) you will love it. Mr. Lee gets better with every new book.
I love the characters. You get to know these people from the first books and you feel there love and pain. This is not going to be easy to come back from. It should be a long time before Sinatra cares so much again. But that book was very exciting.
I have read all the previous Sinatra books but I think this one is the best. Manny/Sinatra has outdone himself in this one. The ending is kind of a cliffhanger, can't wait for the next one! Hurry up Alan and get us the next one...on pins and needles to see where it will go after this ending.
I read all 25 books, Mackenzie August, The Girl Who Would Be Sheriff and The Sinatra Thrillers. They were all thrillers, engrossing and humorous. A great blend of action, story line and character development. I enjoyed all of them and look forward to the next book, so write fast, please, Alan Lee!
This book was a roller coaster. What started out simple took so many turns dips twists and concluded with an unforgettable ending. It was necessary for what comes next. A good read, but now you have to wait for the next book.
Another Gripping Sinatra Book to Add to the Collection!
The characters are intriguing, more details about a couple of lesser known were introduced as well as twists and turns that I didn't see coming, great book!!!!
Alan Lee is one of my favorite authors. This is one of the best books yet by Alan Lee, he has outdone himself. I was up until the wee hours, because once again, I couldn't put this book down. Bravo Alan, well done.
I adore Alan Lee's characters and over the top danger and adventure. He gives us proud, noble heroes worth cheering on and falling in love with. Five stars!
I have missed Sinatra being the Almost All American Hero. But disparaging America 🇺🇸 is not the way to get on his good side. I held my breath several times and for once I cried. It’s a race to save an American and the clock is ticking!
This book has great action and cartoon-like characters. It foregoes the cleverness of the Mackenzie August books for the action. A fun read, Sinatra just doesn't have the depth of August. Great escape
Manny and Noel are activated and sent on a simple extraction mission to bring home an American businessman living in the UAE. With these two nothing is ever simple. A great read.
This was a great book. Lots of action with some vulnerable times thrown in. Manny is a wonderful character whose layers are starting to peel away. Can't wait for the next one
Such an exciting adventure. I have read all of your books and I thoroughly have enjoyed them. You have really created wonderful characters and woven them into an unbelievably complex story. Absolutely read this in one sitting.
Thank you for such an intense series of books. I've laughed, cried, almost hyperventilated (well, not really) and have developed a deeper sense of patriotism. Love your characters. Getting ready to start the McKenzie series. 😎
Manny is my favorite Puerto Rican American hero! I love all of Alan Lee's books, and Desert Eagle was equally a delight to read. Thank you! What a talent God has gifted you, Mr. Lee. :)
I love all of Alan Lee's books. The the series all work in tandem. All the characters are entrancing and Alan will be my favorite action writer for the next 20 years.
Plus, it's fun to read about an area in familiar with. I live an hour from Roanoke.
