The Dexter Brothers #3

Always My Savior

Rate this book
Giving up the chance to play in the NFL had been a no-brainer for Gage Dexter. Losing Carter was a defeat he couldn’t live with.

Ten years ago, everyone left, leaving behind only memories. And while they chased better lives and bigger opportunities outside of this small town, I stayed. I stayed because I wouldn’t be like my mother; I wouldn’t leave my dad like she did.

But I wasn’t enough to mend his broken heart.

Just like I hadn’t been enough for Gage Dexter.

Time was supposed to heal all wounds, but the moment Gage stepped back into Honey Magnolia, my broken heart suddenly began to beat again.

And when I end up in a tragic accident—one that killed my boyfriend—I cling to the one person I shouldn’t.

I’m drowning in guilt and misery.

When Gage steps back into my life, will he be enough to save me from myself? Or will he destroy what’s left of us…what’s left of me?

Trigger fatal car crash, survivor’s guilt, depression, anxiety

I enjoyed this book. Our female lead, Carter has been through so much grief from losing her dad and dealing with the trauma of being abandoned by her mom and siblings. What hurt me the most was her asking if she was ever enough for someone. As for Gage, I will admit this guy being on and off in his relationship with Carter bugged me. However, after being able to see the consequences of not being with Carter (as she was dating someone else) made him realize his genuine feelings for her. Even after respecting her enough to not pursue her while in a relationship made me warm up to him. As Carter survived a car accident, Gage being with her to support her emotionally and being a friend led to the both becoming a genuine couple towards the end of the book.

This entire book felt so rushed. After the accident there were so many time jumps that we didn't see Gage and Carter develop a relationship. All we had going is that they knew each other in the past and so Carter relied on Gage a lot. Honestly, I would never have taken him back considering he left three times with promises that he wouldn't. Like, Carter forgave him way to easily which makes me dislike the book even more.

Uhm

I loved the first 2 books on this series, but this one… first it only mentions siblings of hers at the last minute, second she met and fell in love with someone and grieved that badly after 2 weeks??!! This story just confused me which is disappointing because I was excited to rad Gage and Carters story.

Good

The story was good, it just felt a bit rushed. At the beginning everything felt really repetitive, then it felt really rushed. I wish it was a bit longer to include more details, for example I'd love to have seen them start dating. Overall the story was good.

Spice rating: 0 there was no spice

The way I rolled my eyes at the first 'Flower'. I was like, here we go again.
Again with the way overuse of a nickname, way underdeveloped characters, no character arcs, a massive problem solved by one therapy session...everything just happens with no getting there... done with this author. I've tried twice.

This was my first small town romance novel. It was a cute. The length of the book was great read it pretty fast. Considering the length of the book the author did a great job at developing the characters. 3/5.

❤️❤️😍😍❤️❤️.

Wow so sweet. Man did these two go through a lot. Gage always wanted Carter to “wait for him”. Carter, bless her heart so many people failed her and left her. That part broke my heart. Together they were perfect. Loved it.

I mean plot is so good. Characters are great. But something was missing. There was no smut but still I felt like it could have been more. This book had the potential for more. Still, i loved it.

Gage and Carter

I didn’t get into this one as the first 2, these stories are super cute and I love Gage and Carter together but adding Jake felt a bit off to me. Dual POV and a HEA.

Okay! This is a short emotional read! I just cried my eyes out. Like cried my eyes out and I didn’t think it was gunna get me so good! Cuz it’s short only like 160 pages but it hit me in the feels! And I almost didn’t read it cuz how short it was… but sheesh. I liked some of it and hated some of it but cried a lot so!

The book is probably my least favorite in the series. Carter in my opinion was not given justice in her book. It was short and to the point but it just felt sad all the time. There wasn’t any action to take. Gage really just sat around until someone died. Literally.
