Years ago, I swore off love. He’s a huge, growly barbarian of a man. And I’m assigned to have his baby. When I packed my bags and moved to Aesirheim to be with my sister and her new alien husband, I told myself I wouldn’t get involved. I have my daughter Iris to look after, and that's enough. But when the contract stipulates that I have to sign up as a surrogate or risk deportation, I do what I have to do to keep my family safe. I never expected to be matched with Rathgar, the terrifying warrior who revels in battle and bloodshed. And I never expected how quickly my toddler daughter would get attached to him. After the mistakes of my past, I refuse to give any male my heart. But how can I resist this alpha when he makes my daughter giggle and smile during the day and makes me scream at night? I didn't expect to want him. I didn't expect to need him. But when an old nemesis attacks, I just hope I can stay alive long enough to see him again.
I absolutely love this story. This is my first book by this author and I must say I want to read other things. Rathgar and Janie are amazing together. I love Iris. Their journey together is memorable. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I highly recommend this book.
I stupidly started this series with this book so there's lots of questions. Teen mom Janie is only 19 in this story but at times she acted very mature, so much so that I forgot she was still a teenager. And for what she went through I thought she was a great mom. We never find out how old Rathgar is as they don't celebrate birthdays on his planet. Despite how snarly he is at first, one look at little Iris and he's a big teddy bear. There's lots of info that I apparently missed from the first story so don't do as I did- read them in order. Now I have to go get Book 1. I do recommend this series.
Maybe not as good as the first one, but I really enjoyed it! It was relatively quick and sweet and I liked the characters. But I also love tropes/series like these. Like very few women/in need of brides type tropes.
This entertaining space adventure brings alien warlords together with human females to increase the planet's falling population. In the process, new families are created, while attachments and emotions are stirred to life. Good Read!!!!
