High school is over and the future is bright. Meghan McPherson and her best friend, Andi, are about to fulfill their childhood dream-a summer on Mackinac Island. Meghan spends her last night home with her boyfriend, Zac . . . her last chance to secure his love.
Now Meghan has a secret growing in a hidden place. Who can she turn to? She and Zac aren't speaking. Her mom and dad are absorbed in their own lives. Andi would be so disappointed in her. And it even feels as if God has abandoned her. Filled with shame, Meghan decides to end the life of her unborn baby-but will she be able to follow through with it?
The world says take the easy way out, forcing Meghan to make the hardest decision of her young life-and that's where she finds the unexpected joy of learning she's not alone. Others are willing to walk the rocky terrain with her.
One young woman. Two lives. Three options. Journey with Meghan through the challenges shared by those who walk the path of unexpected pregnancy. Is there room for God's grace among the hurt, fear, and shame carried in hidden places?
This book was amazing. Meghan’s story captured my heart immediately and I was always eager to get back to the story if I had to put it down. I had to know what happened! It’s been quite a while since I caught myself praying for someone before remembering they’re a character in a book, but that happened this week. I woke up in the wee hours of the night praying for Meghan before remembering she wasn’t real. But then I remembered that her story is based off of so many real stories and real women so I spent some time praying for them.
This is an important and powerful book that I think everyone should consider reading. I’ve never been pregnant, but it gave me an inside look into the decisions so many women have to make—and that made a deep impact on my life. It left me asking the question, “How can I help?”. It also made me incredibly proud of the many women I know who chose life and faced things I’ll never know or fully understand because of that decision. This book is full of love and difficult choices, freedom and forgiveness. It’s a book that will stick with me for a very long time.
