GHOSTLAND! Walk Amongst the Dead! Feel the Fear! Dare You? Victoria Moss is a young woman who has drifted from one dead-end job to another. Deep down, she knows she’s talented, she knows she has much to offer, but she has yet to find anyone who believes in her. Until she meets Andy Corson, proprietor of Ghostland, a scare attraction opening in her home town. He offers her a job, she takes it, and Victoria finally finds her place in the world. But we should always be careful about getting what we wish for, as Ghostland is a scare attraction like no other. This one has no false advertising whatsoever. And there’s going to be a hell of an after-show party.
So good, I kept the pages turning! I love every piece of this story, and I especially love the villain. He is wickedly awesome, plus he has good banter, and he made me laugh throughout the book, even more because he's a sinister bloke. I wanted to dive into the story and take a venture on Ghostland myself! The descriptions of it are brilliant. And the end, it could have one thinking either way, unless you paid attention to the details, and I did. It's a great thriller! It's genius from beginning to end!
Like author Terry Kerr’s character, Mike Donaldson, photojournalist of the Southport Leader, you’ll figure out what’s going on at Ghostland. However, you’ll want to keep it to yourself so as not to ruin the experience for potential readers.
Andy Corson, proprietor of Ghostland, gives the public what it wants—over-the-top thrills scaring them out of their wits. Terry Kerr gives fans of horror stories what they want by instilling in them dread and revulsion, riding on the coattails of perverse humor.
The author has a knack for storytelling, driven by the characters he brings to life. Some of whom you like, along with others you’ll detest, or feel sorry for. He achieves this through expository internal dialogue and realistic conversations. While I rooted for Toria Moss, I’m not so sure I’d like to become her friend.
I highly recommend this masterful work of horror. Betcha bobcats, I do.
Terry Kerr’s somewhat skewed way of looking at the world makes for some great writing. GHOSTLAND is an excellent example. Who (or what) is Andy Corson? Is he (it?) evil, someone (thing?) with a strange sense of humor, or something else entirely? Is Victoria (Toria) Moss up to the challenges he sets for her when she comes to work at his sort-of amusement park? How much, if any, of Ghostland is real? How much is special effects and sophisticated props? I enjoy horror novels that are a bit off the norm, and Terry Kerr’s GHOSTLAND fits the category. If Andy, or for that matter Toria, opens an attraction near you, and you enjoy being frightened half (or more) to death, by all means go to it. In the meantime, read GHOSTLAND by Terry Kerr. If you enjoy a somewhat unusual approach to horror you’ll be glad you did.
Unemployed local lass Victoria Moss can hardly believe her luck when she’s offered a position at Ghostland, Southport’s latest attraction. She embraces the opportunity, quickly striking up a rapport with her new boss and fellow co-worker Lyn. For the first time, Toria feels she really belongs somewhere.
This unconventional trio’s hard work quickly pays off as people from the surrounding area flock to experience Andy Corson’s haunted attraction. Behind the scary façade hides a terrifying reality…
From the minute delivery driver Jason stepped out of his van, I knew this fictional horror tale would keep me turning the pages. I wasn’t disappointed. The author has a great voice. With a cunning plot and realistic characterisation the story kept me on the edge of my seat.
