“If you're telling ghost stories, you can't leave out the Horseman.”

C.M. Nascosta is an author and professional procrastinator from Cleveland, Ohio. As a child, she thought that living on Lake Erie meant one was eerie by nature, and her corresponding love of all things strange and unusual started young. She’s always preferred beasts to boys, the macabre to the milquetoast, the unknown darkness in the shadows to the Chad next door. She lives in a crumbling old Victorian with a scaredy-cat dachshund, where she writes nontraditional romances featuring beastly boys with equal parts heart and heat, and is waiting for the Hallmark Channel to get with the program and start a paranormal lovers series.

Forget everything you thought you knew about headless horsemen having orgies in polo club locker rooms because this novella will unearth things you’ve never imagined (presumably, I don’t know your life).

There’s also another story about a chick who falls in love with a German dullahan (?) look love is love I don’t judge you pop off you little weirdo queen.

I stumbled across this in early October floating around the bookish internet somewhere. Of course I didn’t it get read until now. I’d recommend reading it in October unless you’re really into those headless horseman vibes all year long. And that’s totally fine too.

Anyhow, this features two stories with fall vibes and the dullihan. The first is about Icabod Crane who is kind of pervy here and loves spying on two headless dudes having fun times in a locker room. This story is ridiculous and it’s meant to be. It’s fun and silly which makes the second story and its tone change a little jarring. It’s a bit more serious in tone and a little meandering and is about a young woman just trying to survive without being run out of town and being accused of being a witch. She can see ghosts and discovers she might be feeling lusty towards the big, sexy headless, murdering one. It’s a little bit of a slog at times and feels longer than it should but the end was perfect, lol. I’d definitely read the sequel next October.

That first short story was wretched and I need to bleach my brain but the longer horseman one was very compelling and perfect in its moral greyness.

🎃 Bookish Thoughts
Well, I wasn’t quite prepared for the amount of smut in the first story 😂🤣🫣 Which is impressive because I read a lot of smut. I really enjoyed the second story though!

Double treats for this spooky season, no tricks here (other than the one Katrina plans). Two delightful, snack-sized bites to enjoy!

I always love reading CM’s books, I get to luxuriate in the word choice and the story and the nonlinear telling. It is always a comfort, stepping into her pages and staying a while.

This will be permanently on my list as a story to read to begin the autumn season each year.

Clockwise, text in white reads: double serving in more ways than one; cream filled desserts; so many new ways to call a cock a cock; locker room voyeur; two types of riding; spooky & historical, autumn vibes; headless head > head. Cover of Hollow by USA Today Bestselling Author C.M. Nascosta, is in the center of the page. Background is a a light to dark red gradient with overlay of different types of jack-o’-lantern faces. Hollow was perfection! It was addicting, fun and a perfect Halloween read. I had so much fun reading about Ichabod and the Headless Horsemen along with Katrina and her Headless Horseman 🥰 The first story was hot, messy and absolutely entertaining to read about. The creative use of the heads was🤌 The second story has a more romantic element to it with its spicy and delicious smut. I love a good historical romance and C. M. Nascosta delivered! I hope that we get more of Hollow in the future because I'm desperate to get to know more of these characters!

Have you ever started a dogshit buddy read of filthy Sleepy Hollow fanfic and then your buddy (HAYLEY!!!) ditches bc it’s not good but you’re too far in to DNF so you finish it even though you know you’re wasting your Halloween and life is too short? Me neither

overall, I’d say this was okay. I wasn’t a fan of the first one tbh. Ichabod was too odd for me lmfao. The second one felt like it dragged a little bit but I liked it more than the first story! I kinda want more of the second story.

I actually liked the first story WAY more than the second. That alone could be three stars.

Wild concept and even wilder plot development throughout both stories.

I devoured this one!

It opens with a fun, high heat modern erotica featuring Ichabod Crane and a brawny headless horseman and concludes with a historical reimagining set in Sleepy Hollow. I enjoyed both, but It was the romance between schoolmistress Katrina Van Tessel and the infamous Headless Horseman that had my heart.

I was immediately charmed by Katrina’s insistence on treating the ghosts she has the ability to see just as politely as the living. Combined with her insistence on independence and her commitment to teaching young girls to read and write so that they may have their own voice, I simply adored her. I’m an absolute sucker for a heroine who fights to pave the way for other women.

I can’t talk about a book written by C.M. Nascosta without using the word “evocative.” The writing always transports me to other places. It’s so vivid. I devour these books with all of my senses.

Respectfully, ummm what?

Points for originality. When I first came across this book I was immediately intrigued. It sounded like my kind of chaos. The first story was a silly and fun read (and a good length for what it was). The second part just felt so long to me. It was honestly kind of boring and took me forever to get through because I kept going to my other reads.

Also, the comparing of human anatomy to foods gives me the ick and this happened in both stories, which is just not for me.

First story was a kinda fun MMM locker room gangbang... some voyuerism and lots of dirty talking.

The second story was... just a big ball of nope for me. And it honestly made me uncomfortable. But no kink shaming from me. Have at it!! 😄😄

Nascosta books either work for me or don't, there's no middle ground. This one didn't click so I DNFed it on the early side. I guess headless men giving and receiving head isn't my thing?

2 vastly different novellas with the same characters?

Honestly, I went into this expecting a fun, smutty, spooky, monster time, the first story delivered on that, but the second one was such a let-down.

Up until now, I've loved every single Nacosta book I've read, but this is just stupid. I've heard people call it funny and exaggerated in a good way, but I've read porn with more plot, and the thesaurus abuse is, well, also stupid.

The locker room was the very last place he would have expected to encounter such goings on, but he supposed it was as good a place as any. Secluded and remote, and far enough away from the racquetball court that the aqueous sounds of oral enjoyment would be muted unless one was right there, as he was then.

In the words of that one guy from SpongeBob, MY EYES!!! T the first book was just pure smut and crazy at that. The second book was better, but don’t expect much of a plot from these. Two words: HEADLESS HORSEMEN. 👀
