The retired librarian from Hideaway Bay, Carol Rimmer, has been handed a terminal diagnosis. As she looks over the course of her life, she decides she must do one more thing before she goes. But she’s going to need help and who better to ask than Thelma Schumacher. Despite their history, she puts aside any dislike she has for the woman and asks for help in her last task.
Thelma is only too happy to help. She always felt bad that Stanley had chosen her over the librarian. And she knows the perfect person to help Carol.
But as Carol fulfills her final wish, she wrestles with a long buried secret, torn between revealing it or taking it with her to her grave.
I just can't say enough about how much I love the Hideaway Bay Series! I love, loved the story "One Last Thing Before I go"! I love how the author, Michele Brouder starts the book out in present day with Carol and Jackie and their stories. Then we go back in time to when Carol was young and follow her as she grew up. I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait until the next book to see what happens. I love how this series is following the different people in the whole town of Hideaway Bay. I would highly recommend this book and the whole series, and any book by Michele Brouder!
It is a must read, a beautiful story about life and choices we make in our journey. You will fall in love with Carol and all the characters in Hideway bay, I promise, you will want to read all the books in this wonderful series. Thank you so much Michele, for writing such a wonderful story that make us dream for a few hours, taking us away from our daily stress. Thanks to the author for providing me with my review copy.
A story of loss, heartache, a big secret, making peace, and a final wish fulfilled. In fulfilling the final wish, another life is transformed for the better, also. Going through Carol’s last days was a little hard to read after being caregiver to my mom as she passed away in 2018. A touching, heartwarming story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the fifth book in the Hideaway Bay series. Carol Rimmer has secrets, and she wants to do special before her secrets come out. She hired Jackie to fill a 2 acre srea with sunflowers and wants it done quickly. Because, secrets.
This author tells wonderful, heart touching stories. But unlike her Ireland series there isn't much romance.
With each book I've been expecting more on the previous characters in the first 4 books. Nothing.
This is one of those books that's so good, but so gut wrenchingly sad at some points. This author is good at that. The main character Carol, has several tragedies she weathers. Despite that, the book (especially the ending), is hopeful. There's a few romances. But, they're not all HEA's. All in all, I highly recommend! Clean and no swearing.Note: I am an ARC reader for this book
Carol, the librarian, and Jackie, the widow & mother. Yes, you'll need tissues, but there's laughter along the way. How do you restart your life after the death of a spouse? What do you want to accomplish when you know time is dwindling? A very sweet & touching story.
I loved this story, didn't want to see it end. Carol's journey was filled with ups and downs, happiness and some sadness but she soldiered on, learning through each step. I wish there was another book about Jackie and Tom. Highly recommend each book in this series, it doesn't disappoint and filled with a lot of wisdom.
Michele Brouder writes books about families within a close knit community. They are very emotional and revolve around issues that ordinary people deal with on a daily basis. They are filled with love and hope, which is so needed in this world we live in! I definitely recommend this series and this book! It's a very well written book.
This was a wonderful written story of unwed teen in 1950's and her parents adopt the child and raise him as their own. It is a book that I recommend to anyone who likes good characters, real issues, and real people to solve those issues. I have been very happy with this series so far.
I recently started to read this book as part of the Hideaway Bay series, but skipped it because I was so sad by the end of the first chapter.
Something... I'm not sure what, brought me back to it, and it has been such a pleasure to read. Yes, there is sadness, but there is also persistence, courage, love and substance.
I have read all the books so far of Hideaway Bay and have enjoyed All of them. This one was so good- showed a mother's love and how difficult it was for un married girls during that time period. It made me happy for her but sad at the same time..I was proud of her courage and determination.. It was good to incorporate people from the town. Very easy to read.
Carol had a loving family and Lottie, her BFF. All was well until one day when it wasn't. Life is ups and downs; we have to keep going through it all. Carol never expected her life to be so challenging! I don't want to put any spoilers here.... Just read this beautiful story!
Carol's story is very touching, the secrets she had to keep, the opportunities she gave up, this was a wonderful way to end the series. I loved how the town came together to do such a special thing for Carol.
I personally found this a hard read I kept picking it up and having to put it down , however very well written I only continued as I had read the previous 2 books and preordered the next so can’t give a honest review as I had to skip quite a few chapters.
Life is like a flower, starts small but blossoms with nurturing and love.
Carol Anderson became the Town Librarian; a career she cherished. Introducing young and old to new adventures each day. It was not a job but a calling for Carol.
This book really reached in and grabbed at my heartstrings. A good book is such a talent for the author. I, obviously, enjoyed this story 5 stars worth. Thank you, Michele Brouder, and Jessica Peirce. Happy Reading! ENJOY!! MARY C
Hideaway Bay -a must read series, thank you, Michele😎
I never wanted to lay this book down! Each book got better and better! The characters felt like great friends and the town is a place I would love to live! 🤗
I’m truly enjoying the Hideaway Bay Series. I love getting to know the characters and getting to experience more stories with them. This one is my favorite so far though. Such a touching storyline.
I highly recommend this contemporary romance. The characters are very supporting and likable, their lives are full of surprises as they live in Hideaway Bay. Enjoy
