Monica, the Silent Witch, has infiltrated Serendia Academy on a top-secret mission to protect the second prince. So far, she's been appointed accountant of the student council and things are going great! ...Or so she thought. With her former mentor arriving at the academy and her over-powered magic under the microscope, Monica is struggling to keep her identity hidden. As if social dances and tea parties weren't terrifying enough. And now, with a new danger closing in on the prince, will Monica reach her breaking point?
I like how the MC grows and we get a little bit more of her tragic backstory and we see a SMIDGE more of the Prince’s POV and the Barrier Witch’s sweet side that I just KNEW was there!
I’m still on the fence about Claudia…she’s….got some hidden depths to her. Not sure who the MC would have as a love interest, if any at all. They all seem age-appropriate and no one is falling over themselves for her with obvious feelings, though there is a hint with the VP and the Prince fell in love with an idea and magic, not necessarily the person behind his idealization.
This is a good series thus far. I hope it continues!
5, when is the pre-order going to magically appear on my eReader, stars.

Can I just say that I'm obsessed with this series??
It's probably the second ever light novel series I've enjoyed this much! The vibes of it are so different from my other favourite though that it's kinda hilarious.
In any case though, this volume deals with Monica's time at the Serendia Academy and her learning to navigate through different situations at the noble school! I loved every moment of it, especially how many supportive people Monica has got around her now!
The second volume expands further on the world and introduces us to key political elements. We start to get a clearer picture of how power is structured within the kingdom, how magic is regulated, and how much influence the nobility and royal factions hold behind the scenes. These political undercurrents add a layer of tension to what is otherwise a cozy story, reminding us that Monica’s life exists within a much larger and more unstable system.
We also get to see Monica, our painfully shy protagonist, slowly begin to open up to the people around her. Once again, quite a few scenes were unfortunately left out of the anime adaptation, so I’m really glad I decided to read the series from the beginning.
At this point, I’m mostly looking forward to learning more about the supporting cast—especially Nero and Glenn—and I love how Cyril has noticeably softened toward Monica. As for romance, it’s still unclear whether the story will go in that direction at all, or who the male lead would be if it does. That said… I can’t help but root for a certain silver-haired boy. Ahem.
Another great volume. I really like how well this manga is paced so far, and several different plot threads are proceeding at pace that invokes intrigue without feeling overwhelming. The lore and world building is slowly getting larger with the introduction of some political plot lines and other countries, and best of all our main cast of core characters continues to get fleshed out beautifully. Monica of course is the main attraction, but everyone in her orbit is also slowly being changed by her sudden involvement in their lives, as she is by them. It’s been a great read so far and I can’t wait to keep diving into this series.
Again, the prince caused her misfortune. Does this idiot not realize that showing interest in her is causing her harm. Who am I kidding, he probably already knows, but he is the kind of trash that only cares about his amusement and all commoners are nothing to him.
Monica Everett is one of the most talented witches of her generation: the problem is that she doesn’t see herself that way. As an incredibly shy individual, she couldn’t bring herself to chant her magical incantations in front of others, so she perfected something new.
She created and mastered the art of uncharted mage craft, something that had never been done before. This was enough to induct her into the Seven Sages, and life has not been as peaceful and quiet as she would have liked since then.
Review:
I fell in love with Secrets of the Silent Witch thanks to the anime, and I couldn’t be happier to have stumbled upon it. It’s such a fun and soothing tale, wrapping fantasy with unique and emotionally compelling characters. I opted to dive right into the light novels because I just can’t wait any longer to see what happens next.
In Secrets of the Silent Witch (Light Novel) Vol. 2, Monica’s unwilling infiltration into Serendia Academy is well underway, as she has become part of the student council and mercifully has found a place close to the body she must guard. For anime fans, most of the content in this volume will be familiar, as season one covers it. That said, there are altered or additional details sprinkled throughout the light novel, so it was still a delight and a half to read.
This volume covers a few different arcs, one of which hits pretty hard. I’m sure it’ll be the first of many, but you really do feel it! It’s amazing how emotional this series is, for what is a seemingly very light and fluffy fantasy tale.
To say that I love this series would be an understatement. I already ordered the next three light novels, and am sincerely debating ordering the rest of the series while I am at it.

Monica. MONICA. my baby. she's getting stronger. i cant wait to read more of her growth in future volumes.
i love getting to know more about monica's past. as a mathematician myself, i was really drawn to monica since the first volume and when she broke down, it broke ME down.
i took my time with this one and i'm glad i did. there's lots of events taking place in the school that is just wholesome and cute. THE BALLROOM DANCING SCENE SENT ME. i smashed my bed and screamed so much omg. i love the new characters. they're all so cute. the magic was much better written in this volume i feel, in the sense that i was able to imagine them better.
the author wrote that she had to write some extra stuff before publication to meet the word count and I AM SO GLAD SHE DID because we get to see really cute, uncharacteristic traits from cyril, THE HUGEST GAP MOE so far. UGH. so cute. can you tell i'm in love with this series yet.
i am DYING for volume 3 to come out. this is my fuel now. and i'm so happy that this series got adapted into a manga! <3
This is honestly a really good light novel and already in the second volume Monica is really beginning to overcome some of her social anxiety. Usually, the issues I have with light novels is that they are to skeletal in writing for me and I need more sensory details. However, Isora does a great job keep it light and giving enough details for the reader to understand and follow along with what is going on in their world.
The one in which more characters are introduced - and Monica's sphere grows wider, and she begins to find the confidence to voice her thoughts and desires.
This volume actually involves a conspiracy that starts somewhere around the last 2 or 3 chapters of the novel, even though some of the ideas were seeded at the very beginning.
I'd be interested to know how the different interests of the characters will end up intersecting, but until then, it was a fairly entertaining read.
3.5 stars More characters are introduced. There‘s quite a bit of character growth, but still in character. The resolution to the twist felt rushed, but it‘s a light novel not a 600 page book, so i think that excuses it.
Other than that it continues to work with classic cliché settings and tropes, but it‘s still a fun read
Still cute and enjoyable, but not as strong as the first volume. I liked getting more of Monica’s backstory and seeing her slowly open up, but some parts felt a little slower this time around
