It’s all work and no play until the denizens of the underworld have had enough of the rain.
Goddess Hera Aarden lives in the underworld, enjoying her new life as the co-owner of the ButterNut Bakery. With her small side business of hand brewed potions, creams, and tinctures literally flying off the shelves, business is booming, which means Hera is too busy for much of a social life. But she’s lonely and the one-night stands she used to go for just aren’t scratching that annoying itch anymore. The denizens of the underworld are fed up with the rainy season, so it’s time to shake things up, and the Goddess of Love and her toothy sidekick have just the thing to put the pep back in Hera’s step. There should be nothing but clear skies and sunshine ahead now!
Augustine McKellen and his two brothers have been dreaming of their fated mates, yet none are brave enough to do anything about it until August gives in and ventures out, eventually stumbling across the new speed dating at the DeLux Cafe. Even if the term "speed dating" implies something fast and furious, which isn't really what he's after, August has to get his old school dragon booty out there or he will never find his mate. Once he’s met the perfect woman for him, will she be able to accept his beastly side, scales and all?

I'm a little but of a sucker for Greco-Roman and mythological stuff (and, obviously, a good romance story) so despite the criticisms I have, I did enjoy the overall idea and aspects of the book. I had two main qualms with this that I'll get out of the way before going into what specifically I liked. First is that some of the writing felt stiff to me. I know some of the characters are gods and goddesses, so I can see wanting to write them as more formal, but instead of coming off as regal or anything positive, it struck me as chintzy and unnatural in a number of places. Especially the lack of contractions. Second, there was too much going on. The friend's pregnancy and having to run bakery books and the other 'side quests' Hera had going on felt disconnected from the main plot and shoehorned in to remind readers they can learn more about other characters in the rest of the series. I love an interconnected series, but again, I want the flow to feel natural as I'm reading. All that being said, if you're not looking for a book that will make the Earth feel like it's shifted under you, this has some cute scenes, I liked the MMC, and there are a few solid spicy scenes as well.

I've loved each story of the Denizens of the Underworld. Hera is tired of her one night stands, and goes to the speed dating event at the DeLux Cafe. Augustine is going out to find his mate. He ends up at the DeLux Cafe where he meets Hera. They are both interested in each other and I love how they got to know each other first before the steam come in. These two work hard to be together. A great love story with sizzling steam. Loved the book and love this series.

this was another winner in the Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld series, it does what I was hoping for. I enjoyed every part of this story and getting to read this. The characters were what I was hoping for and really enjoyed what was going on.

An excellent read. Each of the books in the Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld series has been wonderful so far. Each could be read as a stand-alone. Once you read one, you may find yourself wanting to read more. Well written with great and interesting characters.

This is book twenty of the Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld and the main characters in this tale are Goddess Hera Aarden and dragon shifter Augustine McKellen. August and his brothers, Finley and Jaden only awoke from their slumber under the mountain a few years ago, when there was an earthquake. Much has changed since a witch put them into their slumber for a millennia and life topside and in the underworld (Purgatory) has changed a lot! Hera shares an apartment in the underworld with her sister, atop the Butternut Bakery, where she and her sister Demi work. Demi is the baker and is about to move topside to be with her human love Charles, whilst Hera is the bookkeeper for the business. She also does a lot of hand brewed potions, creams and tinctures that she sells on the side. She is too busy for a social life, but is finding her usual one night stands to be too bland for her now, she wants something different. One of her friends, Chloe comes round and wants to ask Hera to make her a potion for when she has her baby. She is mated to Lucifer and is a wolf shifter, but has made her home down here and Lucifer has made the underworld a much better place now he is happy and in love! Chloe suggests that Hera go to the Valhalla’s Throne, which is a fight club, and maybe she will meet someone a little different than at Athen’s Bar. She ends up liking the look of one of the fighters, but pays more attention to his physique than his face and is refused a hook-up when she sends an explicit note to his dressing room.
That fighter was August and he had seen Hera sitting up with Odin and was distracted by her, enough to want to know her name and all about her, but she had already left, and he didn’t realise the note was from her. Both are told separately about the speed dating event at the DeLux Café that week, and whilst originally they might not have gone, now they are intrigued and looking to find love, not just a quick one night stand. August is a bit behind the times and doesn’t watch lots of TV like his brothers, so he is not used to dating or anything modern. Hera is the last person to arrive for Eve and Aphrodite’s latest speed dating night for supernaturals and isn’t impressed by her first few dates, one who is completely terrified of her status as a Goddess. When Augustine sits down at her table, he tries to use the small talk and lines his brothers had taught him, only to be caught out with Hera not wearing a necklace! He gets embarrassed, but Hera finds that adorable and cute, as well as finding his looks and body to be more than she could ever want. The rest of the conversation goes brilliantly and they don’t want to part, agreeing to meet up at the end. They go off for drinks and a game of darts to see who will plan their first date together and she is happy to win and how he reacted to a woman beating him. August is afraid to tell her he is a dragon shifter, since most tales of their kind are only bad, with them seen as dangerous creatures who had to be put down hundreds of years ago.
He does reveal he is a shifter, but she already knew that, just not what kind. She wants to jump straight into bed with him, but he only wants to have sex with the one woman meant to be with him forever. He asks if they can take it slow and Hera finds herself actually enjoying the dates, none of which really go as they should, but they still make the most of it and enjoy themselves. No one else can believe they haven’t jumped each others bones yet, but they are falling in love and aren’t that worried about a time line. August is worried that Lucifer will find out about him and his brothers, since he is mated to a good friend of Hera’s, meaning the brothers could be banished or worse if he finds out. The reveal has to happen at some point and August bungles it through nerves, with her not quite understanding what he meant, then him blurting it all out. Hera takes it well, having already fallen in love with August the man, now she wants to see his dragon side and get to do lots of naughty things with him, and especially with his tail! Watch out for some steamy sessions once these two finally unleash themselves, as the heat goes through the roof. A great short story, with characters from other stories also included and making it seem like a lovely family unit of friends and mates. Still more to find their HEA endings, with the speed dating set to expand to humans as well, since some of the supernaturals mates have turned out to be human, like Hera’s sister Demi and Charles. Each story is a guaranteed HEA ending and lots of heat, with some fun along the way. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Well we definitely have another tantalising read from authors Gina Kincade and Erzabetb Bishop, they introduce us to “Hera” book 20 in the series. We meet two characters who are complete opposites in every way, they meet at The Speed Dating Agency for” The Denizens of The Underworld”, where they find themselves intrigued with each other, needless to say, when they realise the depth of what they have, they understand this is something they never thought they would find, friendship and chemistry it’s inconceivable to allow whatever this is, to slip through their finger tips. The content has you finding the book is impossible to put down, will Hera finally get her wish and find the man of her dreams, is he someone who will handle her strong willed personality and deep passion and not be threatened by her friendly and outgoing personality, you will find Hera is a woman who will do what she must to get that special someone. Augustine loves being a dragon shifter, but believes he will not be accepted by those around him because of the viscous stories spread around about his kind, plus what would he do if his mate refused to accept him because she might believe that Dragon shifters are evil and dangerous. With the changes that have occurred while he and his brothers slept, Augustine is unsure of just how safe his family are in this new world. Somewhat slow and a little flat to begin with, the storyline becomes more focused with its mystery and intensity as you peel away the layer’s of these amazing characters, finding out why Augustine keeps everyone at arm’s length, while he finds it impossible to stay away from Hera, he becomes totally fascinated with the Goddess Hera with her enchanting personality and eyes that see into his soul. Easy to read even with the influx of daily problems that Hera finds herself involved with, with a number of complex characters who are determined to do whatever they can to keep pushing Augustine and Hera together. If paranormal romance is a genre you enjoy then this series will keep you coming back for more. Each book can be read as a standalone novel, yet as a series they flow together well. I highly recommend you grabbing either this book or start at the beginning and enjoy them all.

Well I finished this book so quickly. I couldn't stop reading. The book has a great pace to it, I often find myself getting into a flow with books and I loved this one. There was so much to make me smile and giggle in this book. Really loveable characters too. A big cutey soft hug of a book. If there was another book to this that carried on from the ending I would also my card on the counter and tell you to take my money! It has all the emotions, happiness, some sadness, laughter, love and you know it's got that delicious smut too 😉 I felt it was a slow burn, and while these aren't normally something I 100% enjoy, I really enjoyed this one. It was like running a marathon, you have to control your pace if you want to make it to that finish line. You can't just go full power straight away.
As you can tell, I really don't want to spoil this for anyone. If you've enjoyed the other books in this series then you'll enjoy this too. Personally I'd say they are all standalone books with some interconnecting within the world theyre set. But you don't need to read all 19 to understand this, book 20.
This is also a new to me author and what a fantastic book to be introduced to their works. Now to go check what other delicious stories they've written.
5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for plot and overall story 3.5🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the spice
Another story I loved within this series. This story is about Goddess Hera and Augustine McKellen a dragon shifter. Hera co-owner of Butternut bakery is busy during the day and blue during the night which causes it to rain in Purgatory. Chloe visits and recommends to Hera the Valhalla's Throne, a fight club, instead of the DeLux Cafe to find a man. Hera goes and finds herself interested in the fighter in the ring. Augustine gets a call from his brothers and mentions an attractive woman that caught his eye. His brothers suggest he find a mate. Augustine gets a note to meet, he refuses thinking it's the woman he flirted with while fighting. Then they meet at the DeLux Cafe at the speed dating event. What occurs is an engaging story. There are likable characters: Hera, gun-ho on what she wants and Augustine, reserved and cautious and past characters reappearing, a good written storyline, and simmering romance in this copy that I received and volunteer to read and review.
A light romance that is a great read after reading epic fantasy. The romance is very sweet but has no depth to it. The depth is more of a personal want when it comes to any book but even without it. It was a good romance novel and an enjoyable read.
I like the original dynamics and lore between the mythical world and humans. This is also my first time seeing mythology mix with a shifter world. I started this series on book 20 and will try reading a few more to see if its just the couple of August and Hera don't click with me. My only big complaint is that I wish there was more character building in the first half. Without this I didn't make a connection to the characters.

Hera is a goddess who wants to settle down. She is tired of one night stands. Augustine is a dragon shifter looking for someone to settle down with. They meet at the Speed dating event and both decide they are worth getting to know. This is a love story about falling in love before the couple have sex and it is amazing. Loved how these two worked together to become a couple first and partners next. Wonderful love story, great steamy scenes with Hera and Augustine and just a great read. Love these Denizens of the Underworld. Wonderful series.

Hera and a dragon shifter I am hooked. Hera definitely goes after what she wants, but Augustine is reserved and unsure. He takes his time and makes sure all of his secrets are known before they mate. The story was interesting, it was nice to see Chloe have her baby, but something about the scene didn't work for me. We learn a lot about Hera and all she has going on in her life, but at times it seems to take away from the flow of the plot. However, there are definitely some cute scenes and overall, I enjoyed Hera and Augustine’s story. I recommend you read this book. Fate, Meet Cute, & Spicy Hot Hera's a crazy busy woman, potions & lotions, accounting for Butternut, and a midwife. She's never wanted a man for more than a night until she laid eyes on a cage fight. Then she meets Augustine a mysterious dragon shifter with plenty of secrets. There's so much in this book. There's sweet awkward dates but you really get to know everyone. Dragon shifters are supposed to be extinct. Can she accept Augustine and his secrets? What about Demi, her sister and his brothers? Can they accept the one their sibling is dating? Get prepared for a new book boyfriend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Having been stung in a previous relationship Hera is reluctant to get involved again, but on the other hand she longs to find her HEA. Augustine is a dragon shifter and he too longs to find his mate but this is difficult as dragon shifters do not have a good reputation. However, lady love interferes and they meet up at the speed dating. So starts a long courting between the two of them leading to off the scale hot sex and their HEA. A great read with some of out favourite characters adding to the storyline. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I voluntarily leave this honest review.
Hera has been on her own for a long time and now that her sister has found her mate, she finally agrees to give speed dating a try. Augustine and his brothers were cursed to sleep by a witch hundreds of years ago, only to be awoken by an earthquake. They hide what they are because many think dragons are evil and have gone extinct. Hera and Augustine hit it off and just have to navigate being a goddess and a supposedly extinct supernatural being. I love the Speed Dating books, and this one is no exception.

Gina Kincade and Erzabet Bishop give us an amazing story for Hera, book 20 in the Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld collaborative series. Each book is contributed by a different author and spins some fabulous stories for our favorite and some not so well-known heroes and heroines of mythology. Kick back and enjoy the atmosphere in the DeLux Cafe and prepare to be entertained at the shenanigans these gods, goddesses, angels, demons and shifters manage to get into... All in the name of finding that special someone to love!.

Even though Hera has been happy with one-night stands, seeing her sister, Demi, and Lucifer both find. their mates have her dreaming. Demi talks Hera into going to Odin's fight club and while there, one of the fighters draws her in so she propositions him only to have him decline. The next night is Speed Dating and Hera attends, hoping to find her own mate This book is definitely spicy and not just in a sexy way, plus it ends in a HEA which is what we all hope for, don't we? Very highly recommended.

Augustine has to hide who he is, as dragon shifters were never fully accepted. So he turned down the mystery lady asking for a date. Afterall he wants forever not tonight. Hera is upset after being turned down by the fighter, so she agrees to the speed dating. Both Hera and Augustine attend and fall for eachother. Hera is upfront about being a goddess and knows he is a shifter. Just not what kind not that she minds he is sweet and caring. At times he swears she reminds him of the mystery woman in purple but how.
Hera has had rather a bad experience with men and there is also that rumour with Zeus that just won't go away. She wants someone to share her life with and yet she is terrified of it actually working. That is until she is practically bullied into going on a speed date to find someone. Augustine and his brothers are shifters who have been desperately trying to cover up exactly the type of shifter that they are. He is longing for his mate and is captivated by the sight of a woman while he is fihgting. Could she be the one for him? Would she able to love all of him?
Another stellar hit for the speed dating world! Hera feels that there’s just no one right for her. She’s fine for a hookup and goes looking for that at Odin’s underground fighting ring- and gets an unexpected turn of events!! Next up, speed dating where she meets a shifter named Augustine. Sparks fly but he wants to take it slow. Can Hera go slow or will she move too fast and frighten Augustine away or will the secrets Augustine is keeping drive a wedge between them before he has a chance to explain.

This is the first book that I've read in this series and I will be reading more of it soon. Our heroine, Hera is scared to get involved again and keeps herself busy running her side business, but she also lonely and longs to find her special someone. Augustine, a dragon shifter has waited a long time for his mate. So they both give in and go to a speed dating event where their attraction is off the charts!! Will she accept Augustine as her mate since he's a dragon shifter?? Read to find out.

This is a great addition to the series. I loved this take on Hera, who strangely has never been in a relationship with Zeus in this version. Add in a dragon shifter, and I'm a goner. Somethings did irritate me in this one, Augustine is a feminine name in Europe and doesn't go with an alpha dragon shifter image, Chloe's labour scene just felt wrong with the descriptions of her sleeping through the contractions... It all remains fun to read and engaging nonetheless. Enjoyed this one.
This is Book 20 of Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld starring Goddess Hera Aarden and Augustine. Wow I loved this story and the fact that Hera is so bold and unapologetic at going after what she wants. I loved how shy and uncertain Augustine is compared to Hera. I can not wait to see what pairing Augustine’s brothers find for themselves.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow Hera knows what she wants and shes definitely not afraid to go after it. Augustine is a lot more reserved and unsure of things. A new world for the brothers and getting their bearings is taking a while. Hera and August hit it off and man oh man let the heat pour out! Quite the scentual pair! Loved it and looking forward to the speed dating adventure! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Goddess Hera Aarden lives in the underworld, enjoying her new life as the co-owner of the ButterNut Bakery, Augustine McKellen dreams of finding his mate but surely that can’t be in the speed dating world at the DeLux Cafe can it? I love these stories, each one different from the rest but each is just as fantastic and intriguing. Dragon shifters and Goddesses, this journey of theirs is fun and exciting and such a great read.
Hera and Augustine’s story is an opposites attract one. These two have fabulous chemistry. Hera wants a relationship but has a busy life, Augustine wants to take his time and let his mate know all his secrets. But with her she brings out something in him. Good supernatural story that keeps this series going strong.

Really enjoyed this book. Augustine and Hera's love story is a slow burn with a hot and steamy ending. Augustine is a dragon shifter, one that has been asleep for a very long time. He meets Hera at a speed dating event. He's worried that Hera won't except his true form ,but when she does, their relationship skyrockets.

The authors have given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Hera and Augustine. Our imagination is filled with supernaturals, gods and goddesses and demons. The story keeps us turning the pages with desire, secrets and steam.

A very forward Hera and a virgin dragon shifter may not seem a good match at first but they prove that they are. Augustine despite his profession is very polite and just as attracted to Hera as she is to him. I like that he reveals all his secrets before they mate. They are prefect for each other.
