Rate this book
The weight of a long-buried secret can haunt a man's present. For Cooper Hudson, a thriving Seattle businessman, his past has returned with a vengeance. Suddenly, the unexpected death of Javier, a college companion from decades ago, is casting a dark shadow over Cooper's prosperous life.

Back in those college days, heartbreak and jealousy clouded the air as Cooper's relationship with Juliana ended, only for her to find solace in Javier's arms. Their contentious history, marked by public confrontations, now places Cooper squarely in the crosshairs of a dogged detective, convinced that old wounds are reasons enough for murder.

Yet, as the investigation digs deeper, it becomes clear that the path to the truth isn't straight. Many who once roamed the same halls with Cooper and Javier have their own set of grievances and grudges. So, is this sudden probe into Javier's death truly about justice? Or is it a twisted vendetta, aimed at dismantling Cooper's towering empire?

Amid the suspicions and secrets, Cooper isn't alone. With Jake's analytical prowess and Al's shadowy connections from his Mafia days, the duo dives into the past to unravel the mystery. As they piece together the fragmented memories, they stumble upon long-lost evidence. But will it vindicate Cooper or cement his guilt?

In this high-stakes investigation, every lead matters, and Jake's faithful husky, Balto, proves his worth when a young life goes missing.

Dive into a world where past misdeeds echo in the present, and the line between friend and foe blurs. Experience the suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists in "Voices from the Past", the captivating 23rd installment of the Northwest Cozy Mystery Series by a two-time USA Today Bestselling Author.

You never expect something that happened years ago to come back and haunt you in the present. You probably even forgot about the entire incident or else pushed it way back in your memory banks. This is what happened to Cooper Hudson. Of course he called in Jake and Al and asked them to look into it and find a way to prove his innocence. This was a really old cold case that had been brought to life when someone sent the diary with a page missing to the police! This has a lot of twists and turns!!

Meanwhile DeeDee is attempting to hire an extra chef so that she and Susie can have some time off when one of her employees comes in crying and very upset. Her little boy did not come home from his friends house and no one knows where he is. DeeDee decides to try and use one of her dogs, Balto, who has been lightly trained to find things by Jake. Will Balto find the little boy?

The Northwest Cozy Mystery series is by far my favorite--I love all her books--but Al is my favorite character of all!!

Dianne Harman does it again

I stumbled across Ms. Harmon's books a few years ago. So glad I did. I have read all her cozy mysteries. I really enjoyed this one - it was a nice twist with a situation from years ago. Also, great recipes in this book. I am so excited to try the French toast roll ups.

This is one the latest in the Harman NW Cozy Mystery series and it was a good read! Jake and Al have been asked to help their friend Cooper who is a suspect in a cold case murder of his former friend. Their investigation of several suspects has them following all leads to find the culprit. This series is fun and quick and I have enjoyed every book!

Interesting cold case mystery

Very enjoyable story as Jake and Al look into a cold case mystery with lots of intriguing paths to look into. Also Dee Dee takes time from interviewing new staff to help search for a missing child.

Jake & Al make a great team!

Jake & Al's approach is a complimentary to who they both are individually but as a team. DeeDee's restaurant is booming and her caution to expand is highly noted. This was a good cozy murder mystery.

why

Just why is it necessary to include queer’s . I have read 30 +of your books. Why do you feel it necessary to include fags. They are Greeks but not to worry. When the investigation started and out come the queers so kep your books for other fag losers.
