"When Love Lies Ahead" is a historical western romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
In route to Newborn, Texas, Peggy and her family journey to claim land under the Homestead Act. Steve Harrison guides the wagon trail alongside his son, Will. During their travels, Peggy is kidnapped by Indians, a scheme orchestrated by Will's father for ransom. Deception weaves a tangled web with unexpected repercussions. Amidst being captured by Indians, rescued by a slaver, and ultimately sold to Will's father, Peggy and Will find themselves collaborating, maintaining composure, and falling in love amidst the unpredictable realities of the trail, where the wagon master becomes the least anticipated element. The narrative's core lies not in the plot's intricacies, but in the way Peggy and Will unite, remain level-headed, and develop their affection for one another.
Peggy’s mom was sick and the doctor told her dad she needed a warmer climate. Therefore, when her dad’s best friend told him about a wagon train going to Texas he joined not knowing the perils ahead. Peggy was an artist and the son of the wagon master Will was one who patrolled the train as it traveled. Will and Peggy find themselves attracted to each other. Will had to look for wood for one of the family’s use in the train and Peggy went with him. They were kidnapped by Indians and the suspense begins and takes many turns and twists. A must read.
They went through so much. What a captivating and thrilling story this was the author did a brilliant job of writing. The characters were grand Will and Peggy along with the other cast members. There is drama and danger alone with a great deal of events happening in this piece. I could just see Will and Peggy sitting together sketching. The ending was sweet and it filled my heart with joy it seems I became very invested with these two. This is an excellent book that I highly recommend.
The idea of joining a wagon train and traveling to a new home is quite romantic, and Peggy and Will do find they care for each other. However it is not an easy road for them with hostile Indians, talk of slave traders and terrible accidents. It is not quite clear why they were kidnapped, or a long abandoned house should have edible food stored there, especially bread.
A captivating story that gives the reader the feeling of being part of a wagon train moving west. Will is an assistant wagon master and Peggy is traveling with her family. As Peggy travels with her family, she gets many opportunities to learn about Will and his life escorting people to Texas. They develop a friendship as they experience adventure, challenges, joys, and extreme danger. The writing is strong and the story moves very quickly. This is a fantastic read!
A good love story with Indians that kidnap Peggy and William .William and Peggy fall in love and even though they survived an ordeal they are forgiving .The characters travel by wagon train to Texas and start a new life Well written and wonderful story A joy to read
I liked Peggy and Will's characters. Steve's character was a little confusing. The Indians were somewhat confusing. And the extended epilogue was very confusing. Very frustrating trying to download it too. Hate that the extended epilogues are not attached to the story. Very very irritating.

I enjoyed reading this book about going on a Wagon Train to the Old West… I enjoyed getting to know Peggy and Well: as they were getting to know each other…. GREAT STORY….
Peggy went with her parents on the wagon train from Ohio to Texas. Will was an outsider who protected his father's wagon train. The two were taken with each other along the trail.
I liked this book, really enjoyed it, except for the part where they were tied up back to back. How did they relieve themselves? Great book if you love westerns!
