the ending perfectly summarizes and fits the overall loop of the cycle of obsession, hatred, and love. all things made sense when i read the last chapter. i'm amazed yet also frustrated because it ended in a way i never expected —like it will leave an an itch in my brain that i would never be able to scratch. what an absolute ride reading this was !

Such a bittersweet end to the story. Honestly made me a little sad, though how could it have ended any other way? Still...

Not the ending I was expecting and I'm honestly not sure if I enjoyed it or not. It felt a bit rushed for me, however, I still think it was fitting for the story. Overall, I enjoyed this series as a whole! The artwork was fantastic, and the world was interesting, but certainly not the current depiction of hell in most other works. It's what you can fully imagine hell being like with concepts that would make a grandmother clutch her pearls, and themes that are not for the weak of heart. I was more than a bit scandalized during certain parts ( I mean holding my hand over my mouth in shock) but I reminded myself that these are demons. They aren't sweet, romantic creatures found in common romance books. They are dark creatures who are selfish, greedy, and hedonistic. If you go into this book with this mindset, then you're in for a wild ride. I certainly recommend this series if you can handle heavy, dark, themes! AND ONLY IF YOU CAN HANDLE THESE THEMES!

This volume is the best. Perfectly summarize the story of the obsession. And actually very makes sense of everything what and why questions raised in the previous two volumes.

Ops, metafora sbagliata. E blasfema. 🤭

I continue being on my knees for Ryo Suzuri for giving me the gift of MADK 🧎🏻‍♀️

This mangaka has solidified my absolute love and need for manga that explores queer horror 🙏🏼 Truly need as much of it as humanly possible to be in my hands. I absolutely need more stories about obsession and terror and yearning and destruction. WE DESERVE IT 🌈

Still. It’s bittersweet that this has come to an end. I wish we’d gotten more volumes because I genuinely believe that with a little more wiggle room, this story would have blossomed even more incredibly than it already did. At the end of the day, though, this ended exactly how I wanted it to and expected it to.

This was always meant to be about cycles of obsession and how obsession and hatred only breed more. It was no surprise how the relationship between Makoto and J resolves. It was the only natural resolution to their dynamic.

Honestly, part of the true gift of this volume was how much we got to learn about J’s past. I wasn’t sure how much the mangaka would give us, but we got plenty to reinforce that there was only ever going to be one specific conclusion to the story.

This is the third, and final, volume of the MADK series, and it was yet another banger. This was amazing and everything I wanted (or didn't know I wanted) for the end, even if I am sad there won't be more volumes to look forward to.

I cannot wait for the physical release, so I have an excuse to read all three volumes again. It was amazing to watch Makoto grow as a demon throughout the series and get more and more unhinged, insane, and beautiful.

Makoto (and every character in MADK) is so beautiful with Ryo Suzuri's art style. The mix of beautiful visuals and horrific events in this manga is so captivating, and now that the series is over its going to leave me wanting more. But what other series can make someone ripping their own throat open seem so sensual?

This will definitely be a series and a volume I can see myself returning to and rereading multiple times in the future.

A huge thank you to Edelweiss and SuBLime for access to the advanced reader copy of this manga.

All three volumes have been three stars. It's all been fine, nothing incredible. I like the character designs, but I still think some of the panels are so hard to work out what is going on.

And the cycle repeats, I guess.

It's kind of hard for me to rate this and review this. I didn't really like what happened, but I understand why it happened. It was all pretty painful. Like so much evil happened and everyone is so conniving and it just seems like a truly awful existence, but that probably fully incapsulates what hell is like for the demons. It's interesting to see the difference of Mako from the first volume to the last and how he's come into his demonhood. I personally didn't like what Mako has become and all the things he did to everyone around him. I loved seeing those moments when he and J were laughing together and his humanity peeks through. IDK. I didn't totally expect a happy ending, but I'm a little heartbroken about what happened. Ultimately this was what J was looking for from the start, though, and now Mako is going to do the same. Trying to find someone new to satiate his obsession until it ultimately destroys him.

Read this quite a while ago. Picked this up only because of all the raving reviews I'd heard of this.
The start was so disturbing that it made me question every person who'd claimed the story was amazing.
But I understand after finishing this. The blood and gore, as well as the disturbing factors remain constant throughout the story BUT the story is so so good. The plot is interesting enough that it made me want to keep going onto the next chapter, and I'd be lying if I said that ending didn't make me scream.
The art is an entirely different matter. It's so beautiful. There were multiple moments where I basically stopped reading just so I could fully appreciate the detailed art of a panel. I could stare for minutes on end.
So, after my own raving review, the summary is that this is a great story and I really like it.

Brilliant, all three books of the series. Beautiful art style and gripping story. World building that encourages the reader to stop and think for a while. Sensual, gory and fascinating sex scenes. I haven't read manga that would affect me so much in such a long time. I will definitely be following Ryo Suzuri as an artist and hope to read another manga by them soon.

lengthiest of the three volumes ;) but the illustrations generally felt less polished. what a weird tale of love and conquest! romance and romance-adjacent aren't typically my jam, but monsters make them considerably more enticing. oh, but one of the sticking points (hue) of this story is precisely that humans can also be viciously monstrous.

3.5 rounded up
