Right? Except for the past twenty-one years of laying low, keeping my head down, and doing what the human king of Angevin requested of me, I've received nothing. Freedom is a far cry from what he gave me, flipping everything I've come to know upside down.
A mother figure betrayed me. Snatching the soft rug called freedom from underneath my feet alongside the king of all people. I've got nowhere to go, no one to trust, and with the king's reign growing by the day, his antics to snuff out the mystics from the world has become stronger, but my helping hand can only go so far from the inside of a cage.
Alone and fighting against what seems like everything I've ever known, I think it's about time I earned my freedom... but could I find that freedom in the hands of the highest bidder, holding my name as a trophy? I guess there's one way to find out.
The Sheep in Sheep's Clothing is a dark fantasy reverse harem novel, meaning the female main character doesn't have to choose between any of her monster men.
Honestly, the writing/grammar is bad. There are words repeated, sentences that sound like a third grader wrote them, and the plot jumps in weird ways. I feel like this author tried to throw in as many men and dramatic plot twists as possible. I like having many love interests but we only learn the basics about each guy. They need to slow the plot down and really flesh the world out. Another commenter mentioned that the humans are always attacking and then disappearing. This doesn’t make sense. They also asked how the humans are winning against these strong badass Orcs if the humans don’t have fire power. I feel like the plot is too rushed. Let us get to know the characters better. I really liked the idea of this book. The story could be really good if it was edited thoroughly. I made it pretty far because I was trying so hard to ignore the writing itself and just focus on the plot but I can’t do it anymore.
Book 2 in the series jumps straight back into Arcadias world and straight back into the action. The storyline hooked me straight back and didn't let me go until the end.
I love watching Arcadias character development from being captured and scared of the world to standing on her own two feet and standing up to her men about what she wants and how she deserves to be treated. Ryder needs to pull his head out though and stop being such an arse.
The spice is excellent as per usual with Runes books. I love the friendly competition the guys all have between them when it comes to Arcadia's time 😉 but at the end of the day they all still show they care about her and support her above everything thing else.
The plot is fast paced and exciting the entire time. I love the way Rune almost always put some action in the first chapter of the next book in the series to really dig those hooks in and keep you engrossed till the end. I seriously can't wait for the next one to come out!
again, it was very fast paced but it felt different from the last book in the sense it was slightly slowed down. the plot was great, it flowed well with the last book, slowly finding out the plot and the reveals keep me on the edge of my seat i swear to god! the smut is great, it feels like the mix of plot and smut is the same amount and it’s honestly something I needed right now! the development of the characters, compared to what I said about in the first book, is definitely coming along, I can see the development happening with the characters now, and it’s great reading it! I’m sad we didn’t get to see more of the dragon shifter as that’s why I picked up the series and I feel like he’s been completely forgotten about now except for like two mentions! overall, a great and strong second book in the series and im really enjoying as a fun and quick read!
The Sheep in Sheep’s Clothing picks up right after Arcadia is betrayed by Luther and Orianna. Thrown in the dungeon of the kings castle, Arcadia is tortured for the location of the axwind clan. During her time in the dungeon Arcadia meets Ryun a dragon shifter who is her mate. Taken from the dungeon to be sold her orcs and the demon king free her and take her back to Treager’s castle. While recovering Arcadia hears a voice urging her to find the fae realm and learn the truth of who she is. This story draws me in every time! I love the dynamic and chemistry between characters. I can’t wait to meet more of Arcadia’s harem! I eagerly await book 3!
Miss Ma'am is really coming into her role and being more confident in herself. Also this harem is just built different she's over here collecting men like trophies and I am 100% here for it! I can honestly say I liked the first book but this one was so much better! Awesome read choice👍🏽
Rune never ceases to amaze me with how she develops books, their plot, character development, etc. Arcadia is back and better than ever. Collecting men as if it was loose change (Love Them Though). I can't wait to read book 3 and see where this story goes.
Another fast and fun read. I love all the characters and each new love interest I instantly fall for. The spice is really good too. I can’t wait to continue this series. I highly recommend! 4.5⭐️ 3🌶
Jumping right back in where we’ve left off in book 1.
Arcadia has been sold out by a friend and someone she considered a mother. Luther is throwing Arcadia under the bus blaming her for Ezris’ murder. Her mates are trying to figure out the truth. Meanwhile, Arcadia is put in the dungeons of the castle where she grew up. She’s tortured badly.
More potential mates…rebuilding some relationships, while finally starting others. Navigating hostile humans. Discovering she has more powers than she thought and possibly having family in the elven lands.
This story is a wild ride and I am here for it.
Rune does an amazing job of reeling you in and getting you emotionally invested in her characters.

This book was crazy. Hex and Ryder never believed that Arcadia killed Ezria. It’s funny that Ryder believed that because of how much he “hates” her. Alek and Thrasher also believed that she didn’t do it. I can’t believe she met a dragon in the dungeon. The fact that Orianna is working with the king and playing games is crazy, what’s her endgame? I was somehow surprised and not when she took Ryder’s whipping. I was laughing when Ryder went and got Traeger for help. This is a crazy ride. She has been kidnapped 4 times now. Honestly she should just expect it at this point.

The Sheep in Sheep's Clothing is a captivating continuation of the Royal Fae series! Rune Hunt expands on the rich world-building from the first book, diving deeper into the secrets and shifting loyalties within the fae court. This installment has a slightly different tone, focusing on character growth and the subtle, high-stakes games of deception and trust.
The heroine in this book is intriguing in her own right—she’s clever and observant, with a quiet strength that proves invaluable in a court where everyone has hidden motives. Her journey from a seemingly “sheepish” character to one who navigates complex relationships with grace and resilience is both satisfying and compelling. The hero has a softer side, balancing out the darker elements of the story with his protective nature and loyalty, which adds an interesting dynamic to the romance.
The pacing is steady, allowing the slow-burn romance and the political intrigue to unfold at a satisfying pace, though I did find myself wanting a few more action-packed moments to match the intensity of book one. Nonetheless, Hunt's writing pulls you in, making every character moment and plot twist impactful.
I don't have much to say, other than I thought there were some important tidbits that should have been shown to the reader. Like for example when it was found out that Traegar killed Luther. Why did this happen off the page. That was kind of crazy to do. Hunt's writing isn't bad but goodness they need an editor because there was an error in Chapter 12 where Arcadia was wearing a dress and a few pages after she's wearing pants. That's a bit confusing.
Great second book in the series! I loved not only Arcadia's growth but also those around her! Issues are dealt with swiftly, which I love. There was a lot of betrayal and many revelations in this book that kept it very interesting. I hope we return to the dungeons for a certain rescue mission soon.
The story is pretty good, but it needs a thorough grammatical review. Someone dropped the ball before the story went public and it detracts from a fun adventure.
