Blindsided and damaged, it couldn’t get any worse for Christos and his family on the Alopias. Until it did. Now, thrust into leadership, he has to face his biggest mistake. Will the search for a mythical artifact hidden beneath the sea consume him…or save him?
You’ll love Fathomless Pursuit because of the fast-paced adventure, dangerous enemies, and fantastic places.
Received an ARC of this captivating story from Eric. Now this type of book is not one I'd usually choose for myself (I'm usually a big lusty romantasy fan) however, this book defied all of my usual tastes and took me on a seaward journey. I have 2 words for you. Pirates. Submarines. (Yes, you heard me right you salty seadog.)
This book was everything I didn't know I wanted to read, it has a charming MMC with a mission, trying to protect everything he cares for, the journey they take in this book is a mass of sea, plunder, and strength.
There are so many different elements that I didn't expect to pair well together, that somehow just did, and I was left wanting more! The characters were well defined and enjoyable to read, I particularly liked Captain Diamedes. A huge insufferable git, but entirely dedicated to his plundering selfish ways.
The book held my attention from start to finish, I don't know much about submarines or sailing, but the book was detailed enough for me to atleast pretend I understood what they were doing, I could picture it in my head clear as day, even if I had no clue which part was what, or what these sailing terms meant.
I found it entertaining and I only wish it had been longer. But I always wish good books were longer..
Thank you for giving me a chance to step out of my comfort zone by providing me with this book. I will have to make it a habit to not judge books by lack of romance in future, because I feel fantasy adventure has a lot to offer. Not everything requires smut after all.
I recommend to all my fantasy reading friends. A solid 4* from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nero, meets Pirates of the Carribean, meets Star Trek! You wouldn't think that would work, but somehow, it did...and really well! The author did a great job of pulling in all the characters and letting you know just enough about that that it makes the story work but doesn't overwhelm the reader.
Christof is a Leader who doesn't realize he is one or even believes he has it in him to be one, not until it really comes down to the wire and he is faced with hard decisions. His growth from the beginning to the end of the book was great to watch... even sometimes painful.
This is an exciting submarine adventure novel, and a quick read. The author is great at the action sequences, writing in a cinematic way so the reader feels the heart-pounding tension as Captain Christos has to make quick decisions in the heat of the moment to save his ship and protect his loved ones. The character dialogue and interaction felt flat to me at times, but otherwise this was an engaging and enjoyable read.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only*
The story takes place at sea and, confined on a ship, there is tension between the characters. Christos insists they find the Andvari and refuses to give up, even with Diomedes competing to find the wreckage. The story is adventurous and reads quite young.
I received a free copy and am leaving a review voluntarily. Thank you to Hidden Gems Books and author.
I believe this book is intended for a YA audience, which I am not. Having said that, I believe that audience would enjoy the book. Characters are likeable. Story is interesting. The book was provided by the author through Voracious Readers Only.
This was an interesting story with some interesting twists to the story line. I was pulled allow the story as it went and it had some interesting lines of thought with the story line. I would be willing to read more from this author along the same lines as this story.
It was a fun seafaring story. I realized that the magic system was merely a way to avoid it turning into Tom Clancy technobabble and I would not have to worry about learning a new system.
This was such a good book. The author was very descriptive on describing the places that the characters took. I loved the description of the submarine and the islands that they went. It is definetly a good read.
This swashbuckling tale is well written, and engaging. The characters are well developed and watching them grow is interesting for the reader. Pirates of the Caribbean vibes, with submarines!
I was given a copy of this book by Author for a honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The storyline was easy to follow. The characters were likeable.
Summary: Underwater Star Trek, for better or worse.
Start with good: The setting and characters were fun. I enjoyed the sci-fi/fantasy combined with the author’s submarine knowledge. I love a salty adventure and this one had both above and below sea goodness.
Not as good: The writing could have been been better. There was a lot of telling rather than showing which made it feel a little cheesy at times. I’m guessing this will improve over the series though.
The plot read exactly like a Star Trek episode— OS or TNG, take your pick— complete with a small party exploration, while ship in a bind, “I’m giving her all she’s got”, and the ever-miraculous extra power at the last second. You can decide whether that’s a pro or a con to you.
I think this book would be most enjoyed by a reader who enjoys a YA middle grade adventure that’s clean and a plot that keeps on giving.
