Things I Overshared

Rate this book
If you've ever been told you're too much...

Samantha Canton feels your pain. She knows she is, well, a lot. It's been a rough year, to put it mildly, so she is overjoyed to find out she gets to go on her dream work trip to Europe. But she’s not going alone. She’ll be crossing the pond with the company’s CFO, Emerson Clark.

Icy Emerson, as the industry calls him, is logical, serious and quiet. He likes solitude, the color gray, rain and hot tea - he is British, after all.

And he cannot stand Samantha in all her extra, southern, chatty, upbeat, neon-dress-wearing glory.

No problem, she’s never met someone she couldn’t befriend.

Until Now.

Commence nervous verbal diarrhea.

And commence the ultimate Grumpy/Sunshine, Billionaire, Enemies to Lovers, Slow Burn Boss Romance with rich characters and a payoff that will leave you absolutely giddy.

This is a steamy, full-length standalone adult contemporary romance. Prepare for Manhattan, London, Paris, surprise twists, laugh-out-loud banter, a happily ever after, and a sisters group text thread you’ll wish you could join. This is the second Heartlanders book but can be read on its own.

I absolutely loved this book!!!! this is the kind of work that makes you wanna give more than five stars. I want to give it all the stars!

The characters are unique and unapologeticly themselves. There’s so much I want to say about the story, and so difficult without having any spoilers.

Samantha is someone I completely connect with. She is bubbly, loud, talkative, but ohhhhh so kind. She is herself, regardless of the situation.

Emerson Clark aka frosty… I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! He is a man of few words, but every word counts. So pay attention to them. Ah, I am swooning all over again!

Go read it! You will thank me!

Thank you NetGalley and Magnamour for the ARC! All thoughts are wholly my own.

It feels like an early Christmas 🎁!

Where do I even start gushing about this book?! Obviously with our badass FMC Samantha Canton. She was the star of the book.
In the beginning I was baffled by her and thought she was very over the top. But then I came to realise she isn’t faking it. It’s really her personality- A very bubbly, enthusiastic, friendly, funny, flirty person with a huge trusting heart. I adored her.
And hero Emerson he was her complete opposite. Grumpy, miser with words, uptight, a prodigy and secretly in love with her(that I guessed).

And let’s not even start on how hilarious this book was. The dialogues, monologues, characters, situations, all of it cracked me up. That too from the beginning to the ending.

Also the familial bond in this book is solid gold. I loved how all 4 sisters came to support Samantha when she was broken. They were a huge part of the story and I can’t wait to read their books.

This book have all the hit components like;

- Grumpy x sunshine ( Emerson stays like that from start to end).
- Forced proximity (I loved their business trip to Europe).
-Enemies to lovers.
-Office Romance,(he falls first).
-Grovelling.
-Hilarious, Uplifting, feel good romance.

Safe, recommended and KU.

I received an ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving this review.

Absolutely LOVED it

I love it when a great book takes me by surprise, and I unexpectedly find myself immersed in a love story that has my FULL attention. With a new-to-me author and a nearly 400-page book, I went in with low expectations - and this wasted no time in exceeding them. It's such an engaging, smile-inducing read, with a fabulous grumpy/sunshine dynamic (think Legally Blonde's Elle meets a broody boss with a frosty exterior). It's also got forced proximity, TONS of banter and chemistry, and a vibe that is equal parts playful and tender. Our hero is the kind you'll probably want to smack one minute and swoon over the next, while our heroine is a bold, bubbly ray of sunshine who is strong enough to take him on. Together, they were magic - and I was wholeheartedly, enthusiastically hooked the entire way through.

The story follows Samantha, a woman who is frequently told that she's too much. She's extremely extroverted, a saleswoman who sparkles and shines. After planning her boss's month-long business trip to Europe, Samantha is told that she'll unexpectedly have to go in his place. It's the trip of a lifetime, and Sam is so excited to go... except for one thing. Her travel companion is none other than Mr. Freeze himself, the cold and aloof CFO of the company. While Sam and Emerson haven't interacted all that much at work, she knows that no one seems to have cracked his stony exterior. Hoping that the trip will change that, Sam does her best to win Emerson over. Unfortunately, Sam's charms don't seem to work on Emerson, and she soon finds herself stuck with the one man she can't wait to get away from. But as the two spend more time together, Sam slowly pieces together Emerson's personality, and she realizes that she likes what she sees.

Told (almost) exclusively from Samantha's POV, the reader is left to puzzle out Emerson's thoughts and motivations. Think The Spanish Love Deception, The Love Hypothesis, The Hating Game - this was very reminiscent of those vibes. And that's a compliment. The storyline felt fresh and different though, while still wholeheartedly embracing the tropes. If anything, there were probably a few too many tropes, as a few threads were left underdeveloped. I didn't let that bug me though, because I was absolutely GREEDY for every minute spent with this couple. I loved Sam's sunshiney personality paired with Emerson's stoic nature, and their banter and playful chemistry was everything. The quieter moments made me swoon, and I loved how there was such a slow build to their relationship. We truly do get a little of everything from these two, and I was so, so smitten by the end. I'm going to have to go back and read the first book in the series (following Sam's sister) now, because this was just a totally immersive, memorable read.

Loved it!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: grumpy/sunshine
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

I absolutely loved every part of this book Except the end , lol. But I'm still going to give it 5 stars, because I loved it that much. It just ended very abruptly. The heroine was painfully relatable and there were just so many laugh out loud moments. I'm super invested in all these characters and can't wait to go through all their stories!

every. thing. about. this. spoke. to. my. soul.

if you like piper bellinger from it happened one summer and hazel bradford from josh and hazel's guide to not dating, you will LOVE samantha canton. those two are literally some of my favourite fmc's and i relate to hazel on a visceral level. but samatha? i identified w her so HARD that i forgot i was reading a BOOK. my emotions ran so HIGH in this one y'all holy shit. i felt EVERYTHING she felt. every single situation she was in angered me, made me smile or had me crying fr. i love how she is so unapologetically herself. honestly, in a lot of books, i relate to the fmc in like one way or completely but it feels very surface level or it feels like a very "oh i used to be like that" but here? i quite literally related to every single thing. including her growth. it was so empowering seeing her grow from being so insecure about what makes her her because of all her past experiences to absolutely embracing who she is and saying fuck what anyone says.

the sisters? DELIGHTFUL. i loved the work trip aspect of this because you get to see samantha shine in what she does and absolutely WOW everyone she meets. her organising suprises for clients was so fun to see omg. i usually don't care much about like job related things in books, for me it just kinda exists but this was so entertaining holy shit

and omg, Emerson😭 he says so LITTLE that whatever he says feels so meaningful and i was ENCHANTED. its very hard to pull off a book where the mmc has like 25% dialogue but this book ATE IT UP AND LEFT NO CRUMBS.

i picked this book up with absolutely 0 expectations. i expected a 3.5 or 4 star read. what I got was something that pulled so much emotion and made me smile so wide my cheeks hurt. this was so FUN, funny, joyful and refreshing. and it is criminally under hyped. PICK THIS BOOK UP PLEASE😭 im so glad i found this author and I am so excited to read the rest of the series you don't understand im like VIBRATING with anticipation. this is the kind of book i CANNOT deal w hearing criticism about. if u come to me w one bad word ab this book, we fight to the death fr

sn: it would be so fun to have charlotte north as the audiobook narrator here hehe

“You really don’t know much about me, do you?”
“Emerson. No one knows much about you.”

We loved this book! This is our first book by Kelsey Humphreys, and what a wonderfully delightful opposite attract romance it was! And talk about opposites! Samantha and Emerson couldn’t be more different. A chatty, larger-than-life extrovert, and a grumpy nonsyllabic introvert. It could never work, right? Never say never. If, like us, you love this trope, check out this book because this author pulled it off splendidly. We felt it all!

‘Once minute he’s beaming salty sex rays at me with his grin, the next he’s as cold as a blizzard blowing right out the door. ‘

A true grumpy sunshine (they don’t come grumpier or sunnier than Sam and Emerson) romance with a workplace vibe, which delivered the perfect balance of humour – oh wow did we laugh out loud at times. This book had it all! Chemistry, tension, emotion, and passion! Not to mention the beautiful blend of friendship and sisterhood with Sam’s sister. These four sisters – though very different from each other, were great support and a good laugh when Sam needed it. And did she need it! Who knew what the gorgeous Emerson was thinking half the time!

‘So, where I am too much, Emerson Clark is…he’s a freaking void, that’s what he is. If I’m sunshine, he’s a cloud. He’s a black hole.’

Samantha Canton is the extroverted daughter of the head of Canton Cards, who is off on a one-month business trip to Europe- or a schmoozalapooza as Sam calls it. When plans change, her traveling companion becomes the uptight British CEO, Emerson Clark. Not much intimidates the outgoing, no-filter Sam, but the cold Mr. Clark sure does. She’s a babbling mess around him.

‘He’s staring at me, blinking, like his brain could only keep up with maybe a third of what I just projectiled out so fast, as if speed talking is an Olympic sport and I’m going for gold.’

Sam decides, with the help of her sisters, to set in motion ‘Operation thaw Mr. Frosty’ in the hope she and the closed-off Emerson can become friends.

‘I’d rather be lonely than be a scared, watered-down version of myself.’

Introverted Emerson’s entire itinerary for the next month is in the hands of the most extroverted of extroverted, over-the-top sweethearts you could find. How will they survive one another?

"Don’t ever dress yourself down for anyone.”

Easy breezy meets moody broody in this fun frolicking, though at times painfully real emotional romance. The banter is spot on, the romance is heart-gripping, and the chemistry is brilliant. What an introduction!! We need more of this series. We can’t wait for the next book!

“This is real, Emerson. I want you. Now look me in my eyes and try to tell me you don’t want me too.”

grumpy/sunshine✅

what more do you want😄

the thing with 1 pov romances is that most of the time (if not always) you want to know what the other MC is thinking at a certain moment, want to know how situations affect them and why they react the way they do
with this book, I had that going on in maybe the first 15 chapters, after chapter 16 I realized I actually liked having to figure out what Mr. Frosty Emerson is thinking and how his reactions were something for the reader to fathom
It was nice seeing him warm up and blooming which made it fun for me, because you wouldn’t expect him to react or even talk a certain way.

^ I wrote this while not yet having finished the book so moving on

And then the plottwist happened and it’s the exact reason why the author didn’t make it a 2 pov book because if she did, it wouldn’t have come as a surprise for the reader😃👍🏼

I did make the mistake of not having read the first book in the series so sometimes they talked about stuff that happened before that made me go ?????? and only after a while i understood what was going on and it did require an effort my brain wasn’t ready for

also THE DYNAMIC OF THE SISTERS WAS SO FUN and Sam is a sunshine girly but not to the point it becomes annoying, all her actions were valid and the way she handled things was still in character and i just love her sm

anyways if you like a lighthearted adult romance but don’t like the smut, this one’s for u babes!!🫶🏼

"It was a yellow dress. I looked up, and you were like a star, blinding me."

Overall rating: 3.5-4/5 stars

Here's the thing, the first part of this book was rough. The characters, the plot, etc. I felt like I had to force myself to read it. BUT, it did get better at the halfway point. I loved the characters, especially Sam's sisters. I am also such a sucker for business trips and forced proximity. I also loved how Emerson was so protective over Samatha *this is me swooning* Even though it did take me some time to get into, I did enjoy this book.

I'll post a more in-depth review once this book is out, so stay tuned for that!

It started out a bit slow but once it picked up it was so good. Sam and Emmerson are adorable and I need more of them. I knew that he was in love with her from the beginning, he was so obvious. I had such a fun time with this book and the love confession at the end is so good.

First of all, definitely recommend this to anyone who loved Terms & Conditions by Lauren Asher!!

I loved the book! It was such a fast-paced read - I finished it in less than a day. This is the first book I’ve read by the author, and I’m glad I decided to pick it up. There were nicknames/slang used that would occasionally take me out of the story, but overall it was just a cute fluffy romance. I thought the storyline was really cute with the office and work trip settings. I wasn’t a fan of the third act conflict, but everything else was really addicting and a good time.

The book really focused on the aspects of being an introvert versus and extrovert, which I thought was interesting. Sam, the main character, was extremely extroverted, while Emerson, the love interest, was on the furthest end of being an introvert. It took a while for me to warm up to Sam, but she grew on me. I thought the love interest was cute, and it would’ve been interesting to see more of his point of view. I’m glad I got the chance to read this, and I’m excited for its release.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book!

loved
loved Sam and Emerson!!!!!
Queue all the exclamation points!!!!!

I am a total sucker for the extrovert wins over the introvert trope but this book took it to a new level and I am here for it!

Samantha is outgoing and bubbly and everything that Emerson isn’t. Should they make sense, no, do they? Perfectly so

The writing is fantastic, the characters are unique and so enjoyable. You will not regret this read!!!!!!!

I was lucky to recieve an ARC of this book. This is my own opinion.

This book was amazing. I chose it for the title alone because I consider myself a chronic over sharer. I loved this story, Emerson and Samantha are great characters and I really understood a lot of the things Sam went through because of who she is. Lovely story, definitely recommend for any grumpy sunshine fans!

An opposites-attract and grump/sunshine trope with a bit of an age gap romance!

I enjoyed Matt and Skye in the first book in this series that I requested this second one featuring the Icy Emerson and bubbly Sam.

I almost DNFed this during the first third since I found Sam, well, too much, but she grew on me as the story progressed. Also, I got confused with Emerson's hot and cold demeanor that it sometimes felt that he was just stringing Sam along and didn't actually like her. Their relationship felt forced somehow. I'm, too, not a fan of miscommunication in romances especially ones that can be resolved if only the characters sat down for not more than five minutes and talk.

To cap, I love the ending and how everything came together. Emerson also pulled a Joshua Templeman, so iykyk, HA.

I'm still looking forward to the other sisters' stories considering I highly enjoy all their banters and their group chats.

Thank you to Magnamour, NetGalley and the author for providing me my early copy. All opinions are honest and my own.

Funny and Romantic!

Loved the two main characters, Samantha and Emerson… an extrovert introvert romance that tries to blossom on a business trip to London and Paris but there are so many obstacles, self-made of course. There are such fantastically funny scenes in the book especially the group texts between Sam and her sisters. They had me LOL. Of course the best is when a Golden Retriever puppy shows up (I’m on my sixth) then it’s all over for me and as far as I’m concerned, that is their HEA.

I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. PEACE.

I loved it! So relatable and perfect as a chronic over sharer when nervous! The insecurities the desperations I was cracking up. The oh no’s! Going on a work trip with a guy whose very private and non sharer overseas was going be a hoot regardless. She can’t help herself. She just wants everyone to get along and enjoy. Her insecurities and desperations to win him over are realistic especially when she starts being aware of how attractive he is. Then things really get crazy! A must read hoot and a half! I can’t wait read more by author Kelsey Humphreys. *I was given a copy via BookSirens and am voluntarily giving my honest review.

“You are an opus all on your own.”

Title: Things I Overshared (Heartlanders, #2)
Author: Kelsey Humphreys
Release Date: 6 December 2022
Rating: 3,5/5 stars

Have you ever gotten that feeling that you’re too much? That you’re too loud and you dress too boldly?

Sam Canton knows precisely how you feel, especially compared to her quiet, grumpy (and British) coworker, Emerson Clark.

This book doesn’t shy away from the fact that it uses well-known tropes such as the infamous grumpy-vs-sunshine characters, not to mention the fact that Emerson so happens to be a billionaire, but manages to use these tropes in a way that it feels like a comfort book much more than a carbon copy of other romance books.

I loved that Sam remained her loud and extroverted self throughout the book, never shying away from bright colors. She might not fit into the mold of a serious businesswoman but she’s here to show you that she gets the job done excellently, pink blazer and all.

She’s very much a girl’s girl and is kind to everyone she meets. All of her ‘mistakes’, such as sharing way more than necessary or just being awkward, make Sam feel more relatable than I expected.

My one complaint about this book was its pacing, which I felt was too fast. Sam and Emerson’s relationship, despite being adorable, moved forward with inconsistent speed which threw me off every now and then.

I loved the support system that the author created with Sam and her sisters. Seeing such a strong bond between them was incredibly wholesome to read. They were always there for each other, bad decisions and all, and it struck me while reading their funny text messages to each other, that I can’t remember another book where the siblings were all so close.

All in all, this book delivers on what it promises: a cute romance with characters who initially can’t stand each other, but sparks fly when they realize their differences are just what might bring them together.

#ThingsIOvershared by @thekelseyhumphreys rated an easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on #goodreads and #storygraph

Just when I thought I’d decided on my top ten of 2022 - this book comes along and throws it into chaos!

I had high hopes for this book after loving the first in the series - Things I Should Have Said. These high hopes were absolutely exceeded! I don’t know what it is with me and the second book in a series but I devoured this and loved every moment!

Samantha is definitely my favourite sister and I don’t know how that can be beaten?! I love her fun, over-talkative, giggly, loveable and loving self. She is clearly a joy for anyone to be around (Frosty included).

Emerson was an interesting character from the first book, but I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him in this one - absolutely adore his character.

At first, I really thought Sam and Em balanced each other out - but in reality, they both brought out the best in each other and grew from their relationship, which I loved to see.

I loved that their whirlwind romance was set in Europe, particularly those scenes in London, and surrounding Emerson’s nationality - being a Brit myself.

Their chemistry was one of the best I have ever read - they were on fire, and it was so cleverly and well written! Their sweet, loving, kind, caring instincts for each other were beautifully written. The grand gestures were stunning - I even welled up a little!

It was such a funny read too - lots of humour and I was happy to see so much of the sisters!

Of course, Kelsey’s amazing books wouldn’t be without their difficult moments, discoveries and issues - but all were well executed and carefully thought through.

A truly delightful rom-com. Team Samerson❤️ Grumpy/Sunshine, Fake-Dating, Enemies-to-lovers - what more could one want?!

Now to figure out where to fit this in my top 10… because I am OBSESSED with this book, from the little details, to the wonderful characters and the incredible writing - perfection! Highly recommended.

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the Advanced Review Copy - I am leaving this review voluntarily and everything said above are my opinions founded by my reading of the book.

I'm reading this series totally out of order and while they can be read as stand-alone novels there are references to things that happened in the previous novels.

Sam Canton has been badly burned in the past by boyfriends who recorded their most intimate moments. She feels like the family failure, while all of her (numerous) other sisters have found their vocations she has never really been able to settle on anything and while she is very good at her job in sales for the family business Canton Cards, it isn't really fulfilling her.

When her boss announces that he will no longer be going on the European sales trip Sam has organised and that she can go in his place Sam is initially ecstatic, until she realises that she will be forced to spend her dream trip to London and Paris with the only person in the world who seems to dislike her, Canton Cards' CFO Emerson Clark, the cold, analytical, quiet, English friend of Susan's husband Adam.

Sam decides the only way to make the trip bearable is to melt Mr Frosty's iceman persona by becoming his best friend. But every effort fails. He acts like even being in the same room as her is torture and he rejects every one of her attempts to win him over. Trouble is when Sam gets nervous her usual bubbly personality goes into overdrive and she tends to wildly overshare. She may have told Emerson he's a robot and used the nickname Frosty to his face.

An introvert and an extrovert on a trip round Europe ... sounds like fun!

This was lovely, an age-difference, opposites attract, romance featuring two great characters.

If you enjoyed books like The Love Hypothesis, Under One Roof, The Spanish Love Deception, From Lukov with Love, YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. I can't count the amount of times I screamed reading this book. This book was like a slow burn, office romance sort of thing and it was so good! I wish we had gotten more of Emerson's POV though 😩😩

Samantha: sunshine, warm, happy, talkative, social

while...

Emerson: frosty, cold, barely smiles, hates talking long sentences, low social battery, BRITISH

I love their interactions so much and the ending of this book is to DIE for. It was so unexpected and so heartfelt I cried reading the end.

Standalone: Yes
Cliffhanger: No
Rating: 4.25 ⭐

》》The Plot《《

I freaking loved this book. Everything was written so well. I desperately wanted his pov. I wished it contained dual pov. But it was so awesome.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

Their interactions were so cute. And I freaking loved how she overshared everything 😂. I also loved her sisters. Emerson personality reminded me of Adam carlsen.

I can't believe he was in love with her from beginning. I freaking loved that. Their romance was perfect. His sighs were cute af 😁. And his grand apology made my heat flutter.

“Really? I can’t . . . I mean . . . a dog? And all our people? So many people! And the ring— I didn’t even tell you how much I love it! Em, this . . . this is all too much!”
“For you, Angel, it’s not nearly enough.”

》》Conclusion《《

I enjoyed this book so much. The plot and the trope was so unique. I would definitely recommend if you want some fluffy and light hearted read.

If you like rom-coms, opposites attract, forced proximity & workplace romance you’re gonna love this book! In this extrovert/introvert relationship you’ll meet Samantha & Emerson. One gets sick at the thought of being in public places & parties, while the other THRIVES in them. This book gives just the right amount of plot, drama, smut, romance, etc. I thought Emerson was a little to cold, but as you keep reading he catches you by surprise, you’ll see that he really cares & just doesn’t know how to express himself.
This is a series with sisters, so you see them a lot in this book which I LOVE. You get to see them help each-other through personal problems, you get to see their groupchat (Which is hilarious & has all the tea, you get to see all the different personalities of them, and read a beautiful sister relationship. Which I love, being one sister out of 5 myself.) This book could make you laugh, cry, smile, scream, and maybe even all at once. So worth the read.!

“If you don’t laugh out loud or get choked up, I’ve failed.” Kelsey Humphreys

Oh girl, you did NOT fail, not one bit! I LOL'd, I got choked up, I felt alllll kinds of feelings while reading this book!

I absolutely loved this book, and I will admit, I didn't think I would. The beginning was a bit slow, but once things got going, I quite literally couldn't put it down. Both main characters were so unapologetically themselves, and while I predicted what would cause the drama between the two characters, I truly enjoyed the entire thing. There were so many parts in this book where I literally felt my stomach drop or my heart lurch, I was so truly invested in Sam and Emerson and hopeful for an HEA. I loved the banter between them and the chemistry was off the charts.

One thing I also loved was Sam and her relationship with her sisters. I haven't read Skye's story yet, but I surely will be VERY soon! As well as adding the rest of this series to my TBR.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Grumpy Sunshine Slow Burn!

3.25
This was a slooooow burn. I liked it though. I kind of related to both characters slightly. Sam is known to be ‘too much’ and too trusting. Emerson rarely talks but sees everything around him. I liked this book better than the first one. Sam was easier for me to love. I do feel like we could have had a little more back story from Emerson. This is a single POV from Sam so we don’t really get too much from Em. Near the end when the third act breakup occurs I was highly annoyed. Once again we have a character just saying the absolute worst thing to the love interest to absolutely gut them. I don’t like it buuuuut at least with this one there was heavyyyy groveling involved afterwards. I really do love the sisterhood in these books though. They all have each others back and it’s really nice!
I’m intrigued for the next book because it has been mentioned in both previous books that ‘something’ happened to Sadie with some guy in the past and she refuses to talk about it. I’m excited to find out in book 3!

Thank you NetGalley, Kelsey Humphreys and Magnamour for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This review is way overdue, but here it is.

I absolutely adore this book. I love the main characters so much! Samantha as her bubbly and extroverted self and Emerson as his quiet and introverted self. I seriously ate up every single word of this book. I love their dynamic together. Plus, the rest of the Canton sisters are awesome! Their sisterly bond is just <3

Get ready for a MC who barely talks and an FMC who talks a whole lot, but that's just part of their charm, and I love them for that! There's just something about the way that Sam's character was written that makes her so loveable to me.

I’ll be honest, when I started this story I was a little nervous and overwhelmed. Kelsey Humphreys has a ability to write characters that feel so real! Samantha is A LOT. Not in a bad way, but a few pages inside her head were exhausting to an introvert like me. But the more I read, the more I got to know her the more I loved her! Emerson was definitely an intriguing character and their relationship was fun to unfold.

I really want to leave 5 stars, but I felt like we spent a lot of time traveling the world and falling in love with these two and then happy bow was put on it! I wanted more time with them!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

What can I say. I loved loved the concept: grumpy /sunshine, enemies to lovers, slow burn romance.
But the main character literally has diarrhea of the mouth LOL. Her inner monologue and then what actually comes out of her mouth was...wow.

But once i got used to that, i loved this book .
Since this IS a romance, i will say spice level is 2/5. Like it's there...but if you are looking for vivid descriptions, this is not it.
I would recommend!

4.5 stars ⭐️ This one took me a hot minute to get into. It started out slow and I wasn’t loving the beginning — just a lot going on with the characters and the plot.

About 1/2 way through it really started to pick up and got good!

Grumpy/sunshine, slow burn, age gap, forced proximity, even a little fake dating. Oh, don’t forget the British accent 😍

I love the Canton sisters & how much they love each other — it really showed in this book. I can’t wait to read about Sadie next. I feel like she’s going to be my favorite sister yet.

This book was a huge step up from the previous one! The characters were so much more likable, and I think I might have fallen a little in love with Emerson myself—he was absolutely swoon-worthy. The entire book had me feeling all the emotions: I blushed, smiled, laughed, cried, and even got a little annoyed at times. It was a beautifully balanced rollercoaster.

Overall, it’s a fantastic read, and I’m loving this series more and more. I can’t wait to dive into the next book!

i’ve never had a book start so good and end so terribly. the ending and drawn out third act break up was really garbage. ending in a sex scene? come on. the final straw for me though was all the villainizing of women. not just one or two?? but so many and why?? for what?? it didn’t make the plot and in fact it weakened the plot by making the “twists” completely obvious. this book does not pass the bechdel test that’s for sure.
