I threw up in my mouth a bit, so sickened that the female lead was more enthralled with how "hot" the jerk that kidnapped her daughter was from her angle sitting on "his rock hard" groin, than the fact she's dealing with the guy guilty of parental kidnapping. REALLY! THAT'S what a heroine is supposed to be thinking about when she's confronting the man who's stolen her daughter and kept the child away from her? The man who sent his brother to SHOOT a five-year-old child with a tranquilizer gun, kidnapped a CHILD and took her to a strange place and refused to let her see or speak to ANY of her family when she was frightened and alone even though her mother was in the same house?!! So after he spent weeks lying to her, when she finally discovers the perfidy and confronts him, she still doesn't have even a drop of self-control enough to stop herself from thinking about getting the kidnapper's rocks off instead of getting her daughter away from a psychotic, unfeeling murderer who gave the order to shoot a 5-year-old with drugs? She thinks this guy's sexy, she thinks he has a right to be around her child!!!!! And she has the gall to call herself a mother?

I've read books with some shallow self-absorbed stupid female leads, but this one takes the cake, and what's worse is she's constantly inner monologuing about how she wants to be heroic like one of the heroines out of the old novels like Jane Eyre, and yet rather than deal appropriately with a lying sack of poo that has done something that should be unforgivable, all she can think about is sex, rather than her kid. Oh, Isaak's whole justification for the kidnapping and lying about it -- that Cami kept the kid from him for 6 years when he's the father -- doesn't hold water, because he disappeared and she didn't know how to contact him, besides the fact he's a violent, manipulative, murdering, kidnapping leader of an extremely violent criminal organization, so I think she was justified in her decision -- most courts wouldn't have let him anywhere near the kid if they could help it.

I have never been more disgusted with the portrayal of a how shallow a woman can be and still be held up as something that should be admired. I have no sympathy for this female character or the male lead, she's a fickle doormat with huge self-control issues, he's an emotionally and mentally abusive piece of trash who gets off on gaslighting women he's made vulnerable (his mother and Cami).

At times you wonder why Cami didn’t leave and throw caution to the wind, such a strong woman character.
Issac is so alluring and moody maybe that’s why she’s still around.
This is a brilliant 2nd book.
Great series

Some strong language ahead… yes, I’m angry… you’ve been warned.

This is the abso-fucking-lutly worst hero I have ever had a chance to read about. There are no words to describe how many times I have thought about slapping him, stabbing him, digging him a grave to burry him alive…. All that jazz. I have never been more frustrated with a character like that before. Wtf is wrong with you? And what the hell is wrong with the heroine to be attracted to someone like him…
An abusive bastard who thinks himself as a god. My arse…

Don’t even get me started on how this duo was also written… I’m just left so angry and annoyed I have wasted so much of my time… I do not understand why does this duet have such a high rating…

I decided to give book 2 five stars cause I honestly couldn’t put it down.

Although there were times I wanted the heroine to be a big stronger and not succumb to sex and make a bigger deal about him hurting her (ie: SPOILER: when she finds out he took her kid and she was angry) - it was still amazing.

I just wished there was once the h stood up to him and walked away. I get the sizzling passion between them but when he reallly had hurt her sometimes with words or actions I really wanted her to scream or even say calmly leave me alone and not react to him. I wanted him to suffer a bit.

I didn’t find her weak but I was so tired of him getting his way every time.

I loved their passion, the story and their development.

And it was HOTTTT

I hiiiiiighly recommend 😉

I’d like to start this off by saying that this may contain a small amount of spoilers so be warned. Book one was a for sure better book of the duet, I did the main couples spark tremendously and their heated banters made me laugh. But in all honesty the plot was kind of lacking and overall the relationship was extremely toxic and only got worse as the books progressed. I was often left feeling frustrated at Cami and at Isaak. Cami for for giving up her supposed feminism time and time again after Isaak would verbally and emotionally abuse her and also giving in so easily to things like sex when she knew he was taking advantage of her. Instead of standing up for herself she kept letting him do it and kept making excuses for him and at the same time and not only that but would use her daughter as a scapegoat. I’m especially pissed at Issaks character. Time and time again he falls into misogyny and narcissism and used verbal and mental abuse to lash out on others. Especially Cami. He would often manipulate the situation to get what he wanted and wouldn’t care who he hurt in the process and she would just let him. Let’s not forget how neither of them talk about anything remotely important about the situation they just argue and insult each other then fall into passionate sex and ignore all of their issues and somehow love each other but he won’t ever say he cares and is openly trying to make it seem like he doesn’t but forces her into a corner so that she has to admit thag she likes him. It’s toxic. I’ve read some pretty dark books but this takes the cake for toxicity. There was virtually no character growth in any of the characters save maybe isaaks mother and she’s a side character!!! There were some sections that just didn’t make sense like the explosion she was naked for sex but never got dressed but she was clothed trying to escape? And the plot feels like it’s been dragged on for waaaaaay to long. It could have fit in one book. I skimmed over the second book literally trying to find anything interesting and showing actual development but literally nothing. There’s not even any real maturity for the characters either. They all act like angsty teenagers. This story had potential and then the author just botched it. It’s not often I leave a review. I either loved it or hated it and I almost always love it but I really just disliked these books with a passion. It was too much. If I wanted a book on my relationship with my immature toxic ex and just letting it happen I would have sought out a different book. I should have just played sims 4. Was no where near worth the time I took to read this.

It’s hard to put in words how much I dislike this book, which is sad cause I enjoyed some of Fox’s other Bratva books. The male lead spends 99% of this book verbally abusing the female lead, who takes it because there are literally no other options. The writer doesn’t give her any cunning or clever ways to rise into her own power or find her own footing. She just takes it again and again and just when you think, hey maybe she’ll find a way to finally best this mafia don (née Bratva), she doesn’t. And he ends up being more powerful and smarter than her every time. Which I guess is not surprising, cause when she isn’t losing to him, she’s just laying around crying and getting thinner by not eating. It would be one thing if he admitted how horrible he is during the chapters he narrates but he doesn’t. I usually love chapters from the guy’s POV, but Isaak spends his narrations justifying his asshole behavior to the reader, which I’ll admit, is a first for me as a reader. I had high hopes that Isaak would die and his brother would be forced to step in and marry Cami for “the Bratva” of course, and that they would live happily ever after cause at least you get to see him show some emotion that isn’t rage. If you want to see the female character get f*cked over both physically and verbally until the end of time, then this book is for you.

Book 2 of the Vorobev Bratva. More fighting and make-up sex with Izaak and Camila. Alpha makes who never admits he is wrong or has feelings and a female who falls into sex whenever he touches her even though she hates him This is the MO for this author and quite boring after a while. But we do see more Bratva action here. Their daughter comes into the picture to break things up, and a few secrets are revealed to create a switch in the story that suffered from her other stories by this author.

Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
Camila and Isaak saga continues picking up right where they left off she was ushered into witness protection leaving everything including her little girl and it doesn’t get any easier because of course her husband isn’t going to allow her to just walk away from him like that even though she doesn’t know anything to tell them but of course she stays thinking she is protecting her baby girl. Isaak being the Bratva Don of course finds out about his little girl bring her home …well to his home in hopes of getting her mother to come home with them. But of course I hope you are buckled up because his brother Maximum isn’t giving up the notion of taking him out and taking over as Don and continues to wreak havoc including kidnapping their little girl in hopes of two things getting him to come but never thought his brother would come with an army of men and they didn’t count on Camila showing up to fight for her baby but who walks away from the fight, will they get their daughter back, will they end up together as co-parents or just parents and can they find happiness after a journey like this?

I 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 this duet guys!!! I think I was craving for Mafia/bratva books. I just couldn't put it down. Like something came over me and I was reading nonstop. Lol⁣

I'm not going to say much about it. I don't want to spoil anything. It picked up right where Velvet Devil ended. Like I mentioned, Isaak and Cami argued most of the time and then it leads to s*x. Lol there's this 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵 though that got me all giddy and was shocked!!! 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡. Lol I think I'm going to binge Nicole's books. ⁣

Did I expect that this book, hell, this genre, would be how I met my Goodreads challenge for the year? Absolutely not. Am I upset about it. No. I had managed to guess some of the reveals, but not all of them. A cute conclusion to what was my favorite Nicole Fox duet since the first one I read, and honestly maybe my favorite of all of them so far. And considering I’ve made it through 5 duets in a week and a half, they’re all reasonably fresh in my mind. And at this point I’m going to stop guessing about what I’m likely to read next, because lately I’ve been surprising myself. Here’s to hyperfixation I guess.

Loved this story!!

This is book two in the Vorobev Bratva series and the conclusion to Isaak and Cami's story. With everything that Cami has already been through, it is nothing compared what she will have to do to make sure her daughter is safe. This is a great read and I highly recommend it.

This book picks up where Velvet Devil left off. Camila has confessed to Isaak that she gave birth to a baby girl five and a half years previous and he's the father. She doesn't willingly confess this to him but the jig is up because Isaak knows everything already, after his mother confessed to having hired a private investigator to look into Camila's past and it's determined that her sister has only given birth to two boys, no mention of a little girl. He puts things together and figures out that the niece she claims her sister has is in fact her daughter. He thinks that the girl is the result of a tryst with Maxim, his cousin; but Camila confesses to him that that's not the case. She is the result of their one night stand the night her world was turned upside down and the result of which put her into the witness protection program. The cops are at the door because they've discovered that Camila is being held at Isaak's mansion. Camila decides to walk away from Isaak and go back into the witness protection program. She protects Isaak by telling the authorities that she was with Isaak of her own free will and doesn't want any charges filed against him. She's back in the program and is at a safe house but will soon be moved because the Vorobev clan is on the move in the states and she's no longer safe. She doesn't know which Vorobev is after her, whether it's Isaak or Maxim. It is determined that it's Maxim, he won't ever give her up ever since she ended up married to Isaak and being whisked away by him on the day she was supposed to marry Maxim. In the meantime, Isaak pays her a visit one night at the safe house she's escaped to after leaving his home and going back into the witness protection program. All the feelings she has for him come to the forefront. He tells her that he's there for information. Information about his daughter, but it's all pretense because he already has her tucked away at his house in New York, but he has yet to see her or interact with her. Things get heated between the two of them and after a quicky he starts to leave; on the way out he asks her if she knows where she's being moved to. She tells him no, but that he probably already knows, to which he confesses that he doesn't. So, she tells him that she guesses that'll be the last time she sees him and he says yes. He starts going out the window when he stops and gives her a scrap of paper. She asks what is it and he tells her a lifeline. He goes out the window, disappears from sight and also out of her life. She looks at the piece of paper and realizes that it has just a phone number written on it. She keeps it. The safe house she's in is run by a married couple that she grows to care for. Two days later she's downstairs drinking coffee when she sees Eric, her original handler with the Witness Protection Agency, pull up to the house. She races out to greet him and asks what is he doing there, that they have a few more days before her move to a more permanent location. He tells her that Andrew, her new handler will be by tonight to prep her for her move. She starts saying that they still have a few days left before the move. He cuts her off, telling her no that the timeliness has moved up because the Vorobevs are showing activity there in New York. She starts to protest and before she can finish bullets start flying through the air. Eric grabs Camila and they run through the neighbors' yards escaping all the way to a convenience store which they duck into to regroup. Camila wonders out loud how they found her and she tells Eric that Isaak Vorobev visited her two nights ago; if he wanted to take her then he could've done so that night therefore it's Maxim. Eric makes a confession as well. He thinks that there's a spy in the agency and he suspects that it's Andrew. He buys her a hoodie sweatshirt and tells her to wait there. He disappears and reappears with a white car that he hot wired with the intention of returning it when they are somewhere safe, but where could that be. He has no idea how to keep her safe. They drive a distance away and pull into a small cafe. Camila pulls out the number and calls it. Before long, Isaak pulls up in an understated black Audi at the small eatery that Eric has taken Camila to. He gets out of the car and leans against the passenger door and stared through the eatery's large window at Camila as she sat with Eric with a bowl of ice cream in front of her. Eric goes to the counter to pay the bill and Camila walks outside heading straight for Isaak. She greets him and says that he gave her the number and she called it. So he asks her why did she call. It takes her a while to answer but she finally answers after surveying the area. She explains that the safe house was attacked. He asks her if it was his cousin, Maxim. She says that she doesn't know who else it would be. He wants to know how Maxim even knew where she was. She tells him that he apparently found her and he confesses to her that he had her followed by some of his men the minute she left from his house to go into the program. She tells him that was a violation of her privacy. He tells her he needed to keep an eye on her and this situation proves his point. She retorts back that he was never going to allow her to disappear in the system, was he. He stays silent. Instead he turns to Camila and tells her to say her goodbyes that she's under his protection now. She turns to Eric to tell him goodbye, he tells her that he received a phone call and the couple who were running the safe house were okay. That the male was shot and taken into surgery immediately and he's now in stable condition. Camila tell him thank you and not to worry. Eric kisses her on the forehead and tells her to go on.Then she gets into the passenger seat. Isaak speaks with Eric, telling him that he failed to protect her. Eric confesses that he already knows that and he tells Isaak that he doesn't want Camila hurt, physically or mentally. Isaak agrees with him and basically says he wants the same thing as well. Isaak and Camila get on the road heading towards Isaak's New York house. It's mostly silent all the way there. They arrive at his mansion and he gives her directions to the room that's hers. He also tells her he expects her for dinner that night and to wear something nice. She heads upstairs to find her room. Once she's out of hearing range, Isaak's right hand man and little brother, Bogdan, informs him that Maxim has sent a message but it's not for him, it's for Camila. Also, what they don't know is that Camila has doubled back around and hears bits and pieces of their conversation. Isaak wonders how his brother knows that Camila is with him. There's a leak somewhere in the chain. The only person who knows that Camila is with him is Eric so he tells Bogdan to put some eyes on Eric and let him know everything he's doing. Camila dresses in a short sexy dress that she hopes will persuade Isaak to give her the message Maxim sent for her. She wants closure from the relationship she had with Maxim because she never got the chance to end it with him. She was getting ready to marry him, albeit it was all based on lies that he told her. Isaak finally tells her that Maxim wants to talk to her, but he refuses to allow this. Camila can't keep her hands, and other body parts, off of Isaak. No other man has caused this rush of feelings in her before, it's like she can't be around him without touching him. Camila is in the dark about the fact that Isaak has kidnapped her daughter, their daughter, Jo from her sister's house and is hiding her at his New York mansion. The very mansion she's in right now. After several arguments, Isaak finally relents and agrees to finally allow her to talk with Maxim. She's going to have a face to face conversation with him. Maxim arrives at Isaak's house and he's checked for weapons before he's allowed within the fence of the mansion. Isaak goes to meet him and has Bogdan frisk him as well. Once he's cleared, Isaak escorts him to a one room shed that is normally used to hold prisoner and rarely does one walk out of there unharmed. He has a brief talk with Maxim who insists that he knows what lies in Camila's heart and that she loves him and will want to leave with him. He was with her for two years wooing her, although also lying to her about who he was, to her he was Alex. Camila dresses in light blue form fitting sun dress, which annoys Isaak to no end becausehe notices that she's put quite an effort into her appearance for Maxim. He locks her in the room with Maxim so they could talk. At first the conversation is stilted and neither knows what to say. Then she corners him about all the lies he told her, pretending to be Alex just to get close to her. He confesses that he did it to take something important away from his cousin to get back at him for what his father did to his, killing him. Then he goes on to explain that after a while he got to know her and fell in love with her. He keeps insisting that she knew Isaak before the night that he attacked the restaurant. She tells him, no that that was the first time she had met Isaak. She explains that he saved her from a bad date and that's how the met.She then confesses to him that she has a daughter and that it is Isaak's. Maxim tells her that he knows that already and that he wants her to come with him. That he could protect her and her daughter from Isaak. Also that Isaak said that she would be free to go if she chose to go with him. He also lets it slip that Isaak has already got Jo in his possession. Then Isaak barges into the room telling them that time is up and if she wants to go with Maxim, she's free to go.Here is where I'll leave you and you'll have to get the book to find out what happens next. I'll just say that things will definitely heat up and you'll get to find out who she chooses to be with. You'll also find out if there are more family secrets that come to light within the Vorobev family. Will she find out her daughter is in the same house as she is and if there is a chance for a happily ever after for her and her daughter. It really is a well written storyline that will keep you hooked until the very end. A truly moving mafia romance that's definitely worth the price of admission!!.

i hate both of Cami & Isaak.

Cami is so annoying. I had to force myself to finish. All she does is complain. She doesn’t do NOTHING to change her circumstances. She’s ashamed of what she wants (Isaak). She finds out Isaak tranqed her daughter and then has sex with him?! I can’t respect her as a woman. She has no god damn willpower. Can’t respect her as a mother because who forgives that? Before she found out, she was still having sex with him but ok with not contacting her sister after not having talked to her daughter for awhile….. and her self hated. Oh my god. I wanted to pull my hair out.

And Isaak. The controlling thing was annoying but i could dig it in book 1. Book 2 is NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. his way or the highway. At all costs. He supposedly cares for cami but repeatedly tells her she’s no one in his family. Only wife in name only. The only compliment he gives her is “you have to stop expecting our daughter to run to you. Just be open and not disappointed when she’s not your best friend after not seeing you for years.”

I explained this book to 3 other people and we all found it idiotic. The plot line was crappy at best. Isaak is supposed to be amazing but he doesn’t end maxim at any point…….

All I can say is WOW! Isaac has definitely met his match with Camille! I have to say that I am happy that this was not a typical “mafia” story where the woman is seen as weak and a possession. While Isaac did look at Camille as a possession, he also looked at her as someone who was his equal. Camille gave it back to Isaac at every point in this story – she didn’t back down to him willingly (ok, sometimes she did, but hey, a woman has needs!!) While Camille saw herself as someone who couldn’t live the Bratva life, she was definitely mistaken as she would do anything to protect her daughter.

This duet was filled with lots of secrets – some that I did see coming and one, that I didn’t see coming! Isaac’s cousin Maxim would stop at nothing to get Camille to come back to him. Drama, action, suspense, betrayal, deception, passion and the twists & turns in this story kept me glued to my Kindle until I was done. Great story, great characters and I really hope that there is a story about Isaac’s bother Brogdon!

Good but not quite there for me

*** 3 1/2 Stars ***
Velvet Angel is the second book in the Vorobev Bratva duet and continues the story of Camila and Isaak. If you enjoyed the first book, Velvet Devil, then you will like this part. I had mixed feelings about this book after being intrigued and liking the first book. I am not sure it is my mood or what but I really wanted to shake Camila several times throughout to get some sense into her. Personally I think she should have been stronger and fighting with everything she had, no matter the consequences, especially given the situations. Overall it was a good second part of the duet.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Isaak & Camilla

I loved this duet, that first book was wow.

Cami goes on a blind date. Date is bad. Throughout the date she notices a mysterious guy in the corner who has his eyes on her. So she’s trying to be polite on date but also wonders who the other guy is. Date wants to continue and go to a club after and she declines. Date starts to get a little pushy and next thing the other guy intervenes ( typical 😂)

She ends up having a drink with mystery guy and one things leads to another and they end up having sex in the bathroom. Great sex and she’s never had a one night stand before.

Afterwards an explosion happens outside restaurants and he knows what that means. She ends up being kidnapped and the whole time is like she just met the man…etc. Police end up rescuing her and she’s to go in witness protection for 6 years

6 years later…she’s about to get married. Married to a man she met a year ago. The day of her wedding guess who’s at the alter…not her finance lol. So he’s back and he tries to explain to her that they’re getting married now and that the man she thought she was gonna marry is not who she thinks he is. It’s really his cousin that’s been trying to take over his empire from the start and the one who kidnapped her in the first place 6 years ago. And what’s worse, is no one knows about the baby she had that’s been living with her sister the whole time she’s been in witness protection.

Watching them go back and forth throughout the entire story was entertaining

When he took her to Scotland - Fraser ( I caught that)

When he finally met Jo, I actually didn’t even blame him for taking her from Bree. I also felt like Cami needed a little lesson.

I was not expecting the drop between Nikita and Yakov and how Issak is really Yakovs son. That was a good twist.

I was sick of Issak giving Maxim all of those chances though. He needed to go, to unpredictable.

I’m finally glad they got their happy ending. Loved that she had another baby and got to experience it the right way this time

Camilla and Isaac's love was both intense and explosive!
by sewsummore

This book is book two of the "Vorobev Bratva Duet." and I would recommend reading the first book for better understanding and enjoyment. Camilla was forced to walk away from Isaac at the end of book one for his protection, and is once again under the protection of the US Marshall and the Witness Protection Agency. When her life is once again in danger she contacts the number Isaac had given her if at any time she needs his help and he comes immediately. Camilla and Isaac have a daughter, something Isaac had only recently discovered. Their relationship had been difficult but explosive in the past, but something neither of them could walk away from. I enjoyed the first book in the series and eagerly awaited the release of the second and and final book. Both Camilla and Isaac from their first meeting had a connection that was intense and explosive. Neither one could forget the other, and although Camilla hated the Bratva life, she was helpless to resist Isaac. This book was in my opinion better that the first book. Isaac was a cold, calculating leader, but his attraction to Camilla was based on love as was hers, though neither would admit to it. When their lives were in the balance, their trust and commitment to each other proved stronger than a madman's desire for revenge. Lives were lost in the final confrontation but their happy ending was all I could have wished for!
