As a USA Today bestselling romance author, Delta James aims to captivate readers with stories about complex heroines and the dominant alpha males who adore them. For Delta, romance is more than just a love story; it’s a journey with challenges and thrills along the way.
After creating a second chapter for herself that was dramatically different than the first, Delta now resides in Florida where she relaxes on warm summer evenings with her loveable pack of basset hounds as they watch the birds, squirrels, and lizards. When not crafting fast-paced tales, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and white-water rafting.
Her readers mean the world to her, and Delta tries to interact personally with as many messages as she can. If you’d like to chat or discuss books, you can find Delta on Instagram, Facebook, and in her private reader group https://www.facebook.com/groups/34898....
As a fan of Ms. Delta James' Wayward Mates series, there are many similarities in the storyline, but this one will involve a human and a wolf. Lincoln Steele is an Alpha, but not over a pack—yet, not a lone wolf. When he meets Grace Marlow, not only is he impressed with her credentials as a chef, he learns she is also a submissive and wants to play at Torch Light—she is his fated mate. Grace is human, and that isn't going to stop Linc—he will wine and dine her and win her over.
This new series, Tangled Vines, will also revolve around vineyards, and in this story, it will have Grace applying to be executive chef for both Lobo Bahia and Torch Light for the Steele brothers.
Linc: "I think I've found our head chef. She's human. She's also my fated mate. No admonition that I should seek another—that turning a human needs her consent and is not for the faint of heart." Damian: "Look, Linc, consent can be interpreted in many ways. Most of the best pack mistresses had to be persuaded to one degree or another—Skylar Grainger, Catherine DeMedici, Riley Nichols. Then go get your mate, little brother."
Linc and Grace will conclude their business with him, making her an offer, and she will accept; then later, she will meet him at Torch Light. Linc puts the word out that no other Dom will be involved with her—she is his. They will scene together, which is detailed in the story, and then he takes her home.
The chemistry between these two is instant for both of them. Not only do they pair up well as Dom and sub, but as a couple. But, then there is the danger of the Hunters, and before Linc has a chance to wine and dine her, to win her over, she is kidnapped so that they can destroy him. So the story has plenty of angst, danger, along with passion and romance. There are the D/s between them, but also a spanking scene and intense sex scenes. Unlike some fated mates, Grace learns what fated mates mean and what will take place, and she is willing to accept his claim and make her vows.
"Oooh, great sex and courting. I may have hit the jackpot. Careful big guy, I could fall hard for you. I feel like I've been waiting for you my whole life."
"I feel the same way about you, Butter?"
The story is a fast-paced tale, a spin-off from the Wayward Mates series, and has several people from that series. It also will take place in America but will have mentions of Europe. There is trouble brewing, Hunters coming, and she-wolves are the target.

I’m really enjoying this series! Each individual couple has their own ‘tail’ 🙂 Including previous friends in the story gives them more depth and reminds you of how intertwined lives are.
Grace Marlow has won some big-time, international chef honors in her short career. When she gets a chance to apply at a famous restaurant that's linked to a BDSM club, as well as a winery, because the owners are two brothers, she's hopeful. When Lincoln Steele offers her the job as head chef at both the restaurant and the BDSM club, she's thrilled--especially because she negotiated getting a membership at the BDSM club, since she's enjoyed being a part of "scenes" since she was in college. She immediately calls her bestie and sister chef, Riley Nichols, who is pregnant by her new man.
What Grace is soon to discover is that Lincoln and his brother Damian, as well as Riley and her Cameron, are all wolf-shifters. The brothers were born shifters, but Riley was changed by a rogue pack that needed more females. Cameron rescued her when he realized she's his mate.
I generally like shifters, and I enjoyed the story here--the hunters who want to eliminate all shifters are appropriately creepy. But I have to say that no matter how many times I read about how intense is the ecstasy of being beaten and abused, it's not for me. Whippings, hard spankings that make you cry, along with a domineering attitude that defines being a "dom" is a huge turn-off for me. I'm not a fan of patriarchy, nor of the "little woman" knowing her place.
Plus the book opens with a dominance scene where Linc is disciplining Grace, then the scene changes to "six months earlier." The rest of the book is presumably in that earlier time frame--but the opening time frame is never returned to, though I kept expecting it.
Another wonderful addition to this simply amazing series Grace is a world-renowned chef and has been offered a placement to run the restaurant in two of their establishments a dream job she could not possibly turn down. Linc is one of the two Alpha brothers that are head of the Luna Del Lobo and will be taking Grace on as their new Executive Chef she will run their main restaurants and also the restaurant at the BDSM club Torch Light. Linc recognises that Grace is his Fated Mate and as they are starting to build a relationship, they are separated when Grace is taken by the Hunters so that they can draw Linc out and kill him. As Linc and his brother Damon come to the rescue after Linc had already rescued his mate from the hut she was held in, imagine her shock discovering that the love of her life was in fact a shifter which was something she didn’t know existed. Another wonderful book by Delta James. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
If you've never read a shifter story, run, do not walk, to Delta James and dive in and you won't be disappointed. This prequel is the story of Lincoln and Grace, an Alpha and his human fated mate. It's sizzling with spice and has a suspense filled adventure that would put any female in the mood to be turned. I guarantee you will be hooked!
I know this is a short story.. A prequel to the new series that is being written by this author... But I felt that the story was a little rushed.. Just about all of it happened in less then 2 days. That made it seem rushed to me. It was a complete story.. A beginning.. somewhat of a middle and a HEA ending. I was intrigued enough by the story that I do want to read the next book.. I just wish this one had been a little longer and flushed out a little more then it was.
I love this book, and it's main characters Grace & Lincoln Steele (Linc). Job hunter as a Chef position meets a small boutique hotel and a BDSM Club owner. Can't wait to read more of the Tangled Vines Series. This is most definitely a 5 star read for me. Thanks for the wild ride Delta, I will definitely be back for more.
Great continuation of the story line from Wayward Mates leading into Tangled Vines. I love seeing how one story blends together with the next. The characters are well written and interesting!
I've gotten into Delta's BDSM world. It's quite believable and strangely comforting. I'm now off to re-read Uncorked whilst I wait for the third in this series to be released.
Loved the book as always. I greatly enjoyed this first one in your new series . I am starting the next one now! Your characters are awesome. I am looking for a late night reading as I know I want be able to put Uncorked down
Linc and Grace's story is a great introduction to the Tangled Vines series. MS. James does her usual excellent work, creating interesting characters and a strong story line.
This is a rather excellent story, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I will start with the positives. The story has an interesting and engaging plot line. You follow the life of both Linc and Grace, learning about the unique style of werewolfism that Delta James has created, (In my opinion almost every author does it slightly different with different combinations of the original concept).
The sex scenes are lovely, not too short not too long and manage to give both characters personality and not have any of the monotony some sex scenes have. The inclusion of BDSM was pretty good. The portrayal of Linc as a Dominant who believes he must have control not only over the partner but the tools is rather nice. Better than a lot of BDSM portrayals that have Dominants halfhearted and haphazardly dominating and conquering whoever they like.
The character development outside of the sex is good too, of course it could have been better. If the book was longer I would have expected more character development but at the length it is it has an adequate amount. Other than that world building too could have been better, more descriptions of the setting are always appreciated but as the reader I am not too hung up over it.
My only concern with the book is the aspect of 'Dominant werewolf's live in a patriarchal society' and the new she-wolfs must conform or else. If this concept through this book is given or come across by a younger more susceptible reader it may cause issues. Particularly as this is not how the world should work in real life as Gender Equality is a real movement. And it also portrays Dominants as able to assert that dominance outside of the bedroom without consent from the Submissive. I particularly had an issue when Grace used her safe word when Linc was telling her what to do, and he said there are no safewords outside of sex. This is not true and is quite honestly horrible. A couple instances of spanking also felt the same but as Grace submitted to them I take them in stride.
I was given a free copy of this book through Voracious Readers Only. But, all the opinions and words in this review are my own and not biased by the author.
Grace had won an international cooking contest last year and after a year of working at Michelin star restaurants for additional experience and reputation, she's been offered the position of head chef at Lobo Bahia hotel and Torch Light, a BDSM club. Both were owned by Damian Steele, Alpha of the Sonoma Pack and head of the Luna de Lobo Vineyard in San Francisco, along with his younger brother Lincoln, aka Linc. Wonderful news, huh? Just two small problems with that statement. First, Grace is human and has no idea what the Steele brothers are. Second, while Damian is the romance between them and has always been looking and waiting for his fated mate, Linc has always believed fated mates were a myth that was used to coerce fractious she-wolves into pairings. Until he met and interviewed Grace. And lo and behold, it turned out it wasn't a myth after all. Grace was his fated mate. It gets a little more complicated when you add the fact that Linc had a tough time reintegrating himself into civilian life after he left Delta Force and encountered Hunters. They're a group of humans who knew of the existence of wolf-shifters and are dedicated to exterminating wolf-shifters. Ever since it has been Linc's mission to turn the tables on the Hunters and make them the hunted. He had already gone rogue at one point but Damian was afraid he'd go completely feral. That's why he introduced Linc to a BDSM club and that's where Linc found peace, pleasure, and the self-control he'd been missing since leaving Delta Force. This short, second prequel in the Tangle Vine series is as captivating as the first one and only makes me want the first book sooner.
Grace is interviewing for a new job as chef to a BDSM club and a small hotel. It’s going to be hard work, but she loves a challenge. Lincoln is Damian’s brother (Alpha of the Luna de Lobo pack) but he doesn’t associate with the pack, he’s termed a “lone Wolf” His only purpose in life was to track and kill Hunters (Hunters are humans that know of shifters and want to wipe them out!) but now half owner of a club and a hotel, Linc is fairly settled. Lincoln and Grace meet up for an interview. Grace is a little disoriented around Linc, but she’s not sure if it’s his aftershave or just his personality. Lincoln knows why, Grace is his fated mate! But she’s also a human! Turning humans have to be with their consent, but male wolves have been known to override the females wishes! So he needs to make sure she’s fully onboard with mating with him...... Arranging to meet Grace at Torch Light (the club he owns with his brother) Lincoln is anxious to put Grace over his knee or tie her up! He can’t concentrate, she’s all he is thinking about since he met her! And it’s driving him mad. So can Linc convince Grace to give them a chance? They fit perfectly together, they were made for one another. But before he can ask her any of this, she’s kidnapped by Hunters!! Can Linc rescue the only woman to own his heart? And if he does rescue her in time, how will he explain the fact he turns into a wolf? Another short but fun read. It’s making me anxious to read Damian’s story. 🦋
I'm not sure if I've read any previous works by this author before but I will certainly be looking out for them in the future. What an accomplished writer with the story and the erotic scenes. This book is for over 18's only as it contained some graphic sex scenes and BDSM scenes. It is incredibly well written with a good story not being overtaken with the sex. Love the characters and look forward to getting introduced to other in her following books. She has obviously written quite a few books now with her ease of getting us introduced to both the story and the characters within. The sex/erotica is really well written and seriously hot! If you also throw in wolf shifters then you get an excellent book. This is a short novella and easily read in one sitting as I did. This was given to me by voracious readers only.
I think the strongest part of this story are the main characters Linc and Grace. They have good chemistry. I like how confident Grace is. The plot is just not robust. Everything happens quickly and a little unbelievably. Grace doesn’t have any issues with being put into the situation, there’s no development of a relationship, there’s no development of the society and the conflict between them and the humans. It all is explained through conversations between Grace and Stephanie and then Linc. While it simplifies the story, it also makes a shallow plot. There’s no connection for the reader to continue the desires. Bottom line- if you like BDSM scenes, this is a fun story, but if you want a compelling story, not present in this story. Maybe worth reading the actual series instead of a novella.
My first Delta and BDSM novel. Boy did it deliver - from the very first page you get to see Linc and Grace's dynamic. Very tastefully written, especially incorporating the wolf shifter dynamic. I would have like to see Grace's mull over the decision a bit longer after she found out, only because she went from 'is this actually real' to 'yeah lets do this' in a blink of an eye. I assume that was because of Riley and Stephanie but I guess when it comes to mates, when you know, you know right?! Looking forward to exploring Delta's anthology.
i received a complimentary copy via Voracious Readers Only and happily leave this review
This book is about a wolf shifter and his fated mate who is human. It is about good versus evil, hunters but mostly about Lincoln and Gracie and their story. Lincoln is a pure alpha male wolf and knows from the time it meets Grace she is his fated mate even though he never believed in fated mates before. There relationship is very intense and full of chemistry and this story though a quick read is very well fleshed out. The secondary characters give weight and flow to the story. There is no doubt who the author is since Delta James is one of the very best visual writer and you will see the scenes in your head as if you are there as well. Very entertaining book.
Interesting characters, the story idea is good too, but I'm not quite convinced or totally sold yet. The change from getting to know to recognize / find / accept the only true love and surrender to it and the pairing are somewhat very hasty, without depth and for me little convincing - well, it's still an introduction or prequel - but this "we have no time - all right so far - and bang bang leaves me dissatisfied and the common consensus seems only superficial, because it must be so - let's see how it continues, because the overall story is great, the romantic couple game only good.
4****. A fast read PNR wolf shifter and BDSM story. The prologue starts with a D punishing his sub then the story shifts back 6 months to when the MCs first meet. This is an instant lust/fated mates scenario but with the female being human and not knowing what's going on other than she feels strongly for him. Personally, I think the FC, who was applying for a lucrative chef job, should not have immediately agreed to go to the BDSM club with her new boss and do a kinky "scene" with him. Anyway, there's lots of action, sexy times and explanations of BDSM rules.
I loved this story. This is a well written BDSM/ shifter story and the characters are great. This was a quick easy read for me. I would encourage anyone who likes BDSM and Shifter stories to get this one. This is the first book by this author that I have read but it will not be my last. Please remember this is a BDSM story so if you don't like that type story you don't need to get this one. Awesome short story!!!!!
Another awesome hot and steamy fast paced short prequel for the Tangled vine series as we follow up and coming chef Grace Marlow as she becomes the new chef in the Lobo Hotel group but also falls for her boss Lincoln Steele... With the elements of danger from the Hunters the enemy of the pack and the steamy chemistry between Grace and Linc, made this hard to put down and I can’t wait for more in this series.
Smashing success. Delta James does it again! Wow I’m not sure which book in the series so far that I like the best. The only thing I would like all authors to do is more easily show which book to read and in what order. It was confusing. The story line was wonderful and the characters exciting to read. It kept my attention and took it to a new level. Way to go Delta keep them coming please!
This is Linc, Damien's brother, and Grace's story. Linc is an alpha who does not have his own pack. He has been working to get rid of the human hunters. He know Grace is his fated mate as soon as he sees and smells her. She is interviewed for an executive chef position at both restaurants at Linc and Damien's establishments. Grace is drawn to Linc and, of course, they get very close. When the hunters kidnap her, Linc is on their trail. Watch out when he finds them.
