A tale of true love and soul mates, a young woman finds love in an enchanted forest. This lover is more than he seems. Is their love story doomed? A bargain with a faerie may be just the solution, or not… The gifts of the Fae can be such fickle things.
This was a cute, short read. I did really love the characters. I wish it was a bit longer, perhaps by adding the specific scene when Bridget realized she loves Fergus? That would have made the project more complete.
There is some kissing and allusions to sex, but this is a closed-door romance. This is an HEA light, because she still feels Fergus’ love and presence through her magic (a beautiful notion reminiscent of the poem that says “I carry your heart. I carry it in my heart”), but it leaves you feeling bittersweet about her life.
In the grand scheme of the universe, I choose to believe that they eventually will physically and spiritually meet again. Like at the end of time when it all loops back to the beginning, there they find their souls connected again. One can hope anyway!
I am excited to see how she uses her powers to bring lovers together! A cute prequel snippet for what is to come!

I received this novella as an E-ARC! Thank you Mary! I really enjoyed reading Bridgets story!! I loved the relationship Bridget had with Fergus, towards the ending with that little twist pulled my heart strings! I love a good romance that has a bit of sadness into it! I wish we could’ve gotten more scenes with Bridget and Fergus getting to know each other better. Like a wedding sequence, or some other things that reveal different parts of their dynamic/relationship. I think it was a bit too fast pace, but nonetheless I enjoyed it! I also like the story around the faeries and it’s queen, I hope to hear more about them, or more of Bridget in the future!

“The Bargain” is an informative novella on the magical woman who helped bring Hannah her Highlander.
Bridget’s backstory is sweet but also not without heartbreak. But someone that has been alive as long as she has. Her former lover, Fergus, had such pure and passionate love for her. Mary Warren does a great job explaining who Bridget is and I loved her details on magic. I’m already looking forward to the next book by her.
I was lucky to receive an arc of this novella. It's a quick and sweet love story about Fergus and Bridget, the witch who helps Hannah find love in A Highlander for Hannah. There's romance and fae and even the heart break is sweet and loving and tender. It's a very enjoyable read and hopefully we see more of Bridget in Mary Warren's coming books!
Hundreds of years before handing out love spells at a ren faire, Bridget lived with her true love Fergus, a fae, in the forest. I enjoyed hearing about their undying love for one another, as well as Bridget’s magical abilities. This was a delightful look into Bridget’s backstory!
