I am so excited to let you know about my latest installment in the Joanna Davis Mystery series. Book 2 once again finds this reluctant investigator involved in an investigation of the West Haven Library. The Reference Librarian is hearing noises no one can explain. Will Joanna figure out what's going on?

This is the second in a series about a woman who discovers her psychic abilities but uses them to help ghosts move on to a better place.

This story was fascinating and had ties to the Underground Railroad in her town. However, not everyone in town is on board with uncovering the secrets at the library. I won't say who or why, you'll have to read the book for that information. But it is understandable that this character didn't want the family name drug through the mud for something an ancestor had done. However, the actions of this character might lead one to believe there is a nefarious plot to stop the search for the strange noises coming from the library.

We have many of the main characters return in this second book, including Joanna's children, the psychic support group, and her contractor Sal. They are all instrumental in helping uncover the truth. However, her support group tends to cause more trouble due to their excitement about the situation and just wanting to be involved. Some people just can't follow directions!

I enjoyed the mystery and felt that the story was well laid out. It moved at a constant pace, not too fast or too slow.

While I am normally on the fence when it comes to paranormal stories, I have enjoyed this series and can't wait to see what the author has planned next.

We give this book 4 paws up.

Too much

There 9is way too much talking about routine stuff. Stick to the adventure and make it more exciting by making the reader see it with a time travel. Who the heck was the boy and why was he even there. It was so confusing and worthless. This is the second book and I hoped it would be better. Why are all these people involved. It should be a couple of folks with real skills. And a room turned into a huge hole. So ridiculous. You have great ideas but need to upgrade your ability of story telling. I'll pass on your other books.

I like this series! It did have some threads that seemed to go nowhere but it was still a good story. It touched on historical pieces (Underground Railroad and slavery) which I love and there is a happy ending for the spiritual world. Some of the characters need to get over themselves but that always makes a good story in my opinion. I like this series, I already have book 3 to read too. I recommend it as a light reading, happy ending, entertaining book.

Well Written

The story is compelling and well written. R K O'Brien writes well. No half sentences, no typos, no distractions. It is such a pleasure to read a well edited book.

Joanna's librarian friend mentions to Joanna that the reference room has been the source of odd knocks, and other noises, and books have been found out of place. Joanna is asked to investigate.

Even more predictable than the first one in the series. This was even slower and not much going on. More talk about every day actions than any kind of mystery.

I love this author. The way she writes meshes well with my dyslexia. She keeps you interested and on the edge of your seat sometimes. I'm ready for the next book.
