The seventh book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. Ben and his crew on Head Case must track down where his friends Matt, Druck, Qasar and Shaq are after being kidnapped in book 6. Kill Spree romps around the universe again with some comedic moments and plot twists, miniaturisation and a planet which is home to a brutal TV show where the last one standing after killing all the other contestants wins (not too dissimilar to Hunger Games). I enjoyed it but felt it was too short and jumped quite a lot leaving some unanswered questions so it’s a 4 rather than a 5, having said that, I really love this series and feel an affinity with Ben & Matt the main characters. Can’t wait to read Book 8!
Kill Spree lives up to its title: a whole lot of death going on. In my opinion, Spider Woman steals the book, and I really love her. There's another cliffhanger ending after we meet the biggest bad of all. I'm looking forward to book 8.
This series has been a slow burn, building to a roaring inferno. Unlike the Forgotten Space books where it’s full on from chapter one, this story starts simply, like an updated Last Starfighter. Then the Forbes magic kicks in! Complexity magnifies. Twists abound. Characters grow and develop. It’s agonising waiting for the next book! One thing I would complain about…..as a boring, monogamous married man, part of the attraction of sci-fi and fantasy is situations where the protagonist acts in ways I would consider inappropriate IRL. Forbes projects a very restricted moral code on the heroes. Ben even averts his eyes when a lady is undressing. As I say…..if I want real life, there’s plenty of it outside of fiction 🤣
I love this series and I absolutely love the characters!! They are so well put together and believable. I think that has to do with the author's depth when writing about them. This book was a little different in that there just isn't a lot going on between our normal group; it's a different set of people, but even those feel fleeting. So, even though I love the series, I'd have to say this is probably my least favorite of all of them. Even the ending is different, it's very abrupt. Now I've finished this book and I'm ready for the next one. Lol... And yes, I love it that much that I want the author to work weekends and holidays too so he can get the next one published ASAP. Ha! I don't really expect that but....that gives you an idea of how much I like the series and this author's writing abilities. He really is very talented. (!!!) 👍❤
The story is still as compelling as the first book; however, I find o am of the opinion a story is not the motivation once observed, but rather a second thought with 'having more books in circulation' may be becoming more of the focus for authors in general - perhaps I'm too old school but I still like having a solid begin, middle and end for each installment of a series of books - not just episodes likened to a serial TV show. And I may be speaking too freely, opinions as you know - everyone has one. I do remember those serialized stories lost their 'cool' factor in short order. I like this overall story. I hope the entries and offerings become more worthy of both your efforts and my time taken to read them. Ciao.
Really not a good continuation of the series. It's almost like the author took it easy for a while and just revamped hunger games Ok so there are few differences, but the concept remains. A few chapters before it and a couple after it are unique , but it fails to be significantly different The previous books in the series for me were 4*, this was a major decline in quality. Hopefully book 8 reverts
What a wild ride! The continuing story is awesome!
I was intrigued before buying the first book and thought that it might be okay. After having read many mediocre science fiction stories, this author writes a fun and fast-paced story. The differences between the characters and the way they interact is very enjoyable and the storyline doesn't slow down very often. Just enough at times to catch a breath.
This book. Things just got too strange. A ship and all its people get squeezed down to a golf ball size and everyone is still like before. I like sci-fi but to some degree this series reminds me of lost in space and 20,000 Leagues under the sea. They started out good then slowly just fell apart.
All Ben wants to do is save his family, and avoid trouble. Unfortunately to save them from death Ben is forced to take lives. Since he is sickened by the death he has to cause that is a problem he has to deal with against his better nature. This is giving him even more reason to hate Sedaya.
The search to find Matt and Druck and Quasar has finally come. I really love the new characters in this volume as well. Yes it does have another cliff hangar ending. Lots of killing in this book, and the title serves its purpose. Love the Tarantula who joins the team. Bad-ass! I really love this series, but I am getting tired of waiting for the end. This series seems to be taking a never-ending approach. Time to weap it up. It's a great, long read and the author has done a great job with character & world building.
Not the best book in the series by a long shot. Felt a bit phoned-in and half baked. I understand writers feel immense pressure to churn books out at a fast pace, but I hope Forbes will take the time he needs to produce future books on par with the rest of the series.
A good continuation if the series. The book began well, then the story started to drag and become repetitive., especially the action scenes. Many of the introduced characters. Were wooden and quickly disposed.. the ending is the usual cliff hanger. I hope the next one is the last.
Okay so there is a space mustang, a giant spider, a planet full of murders all being filmed for a game show like survivor but for real, i.e. everyone has to die. Oh yes and a bunch of creatures nobody knew about also trying to kill everyone while Ben tries to save his friends, and a crazy person with the hots for Ben does it get any better?
What happens when you drop hundreds of contestants for KillSpree on an “uninhabited” planet that suddenly isn’t and the critters are mad to kill humans? In the spirit of Hunger Games the game organizer stacks the deck on the humans and only one can win. Enter Benjamin Murdock looking to rescue his crew and you can see the ride from here for yourself.
I enjoyed all of these books and the starship for sale series. I love the main character. I like the magic mixed in with the sci-fi. I hope there is more books to come.
Very good sequel..just as you think they are safe...
As with every great story their are ups and downs. The important part is that there are positive ups to compensate for the barely ups. This book had plenty of both, the hard part is patiently awaiting the next book!
The series is keeping my interest but there comes a point where a fan gets tired of the ride. Need to see the plot move to a conclusion of the incredibly dire set of circumstances and threat the heroes are facing
Depraved characters abound. Gladiator like competitions and slavery are just a few of the things our hero encounters. He makes new friends while trying to rescue the old friends. One peril after another to overcome.
So love the loyalty that Ben has to Matt and the other members of team Honda. This story had spiders, dragons and so much more. If you like roller coasters you will love Kill Spree
Ben and his motley crew must fight off maniacal creatures to save his old crew from Kill Spree - a reality game pitting killers against each other for the entertainment of the Spiral.
This book keeps you turning the page from stat to finish. The action adventure and the larger than life characters. Keeps you hooked from the very first page.
Another outstanding book in this series! The interaction between the characters is amazing. The mystery of the story line continues to build, creating a very compelling pace for this series. I have trouble putting the book down to led my life!
Ben and crew are on a planet to find his friends , but The planet Is setup To host a killing spree Off Of the worst People In the galaxy. After arriving On the planet A there is Any digital indigenous Species That drives to Kill Everyone.
