The two books so far in the series have really been possibly the most terrifying and possibly something that could be a reality or already is something that governmental think tanks have come up with. The thought that genetic manipulation could produce such animals realistically terrifies me. Our military could very well develop monsters to go after terrorists. However there would be no guarantee that it or they would stop with just terrorists is what we need to worry about. Just how far will the security agencies and military go to bring terror to terrorists? It’s a bad thought.
One of the best books I've ever read. I love all things cryptids, and this book had one of the badest, scariest cryptids of them all. I loved all the characters, and I loved all the action. From the beginning to the end, I just couldn't stop reading. The military aspect of this book opened up so much more in finding and fighting the creature. Thank goodness the next book in this series is available now. Why did I wait so long to read this book. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
I was excited to see a second book of the beast from Summer of the Beast. This one had a lot of tech-speak which I actually enjoy. A bit slow to get started, but once it did, phew! I only had one minor head shake. The first time Garner and Palmer made love, she didn't want a shower first. Uh, lady, you just peed yourself when the bear ran over you, so please shower. It was a good read.
Just Wow! No let down at all from book 1 . Tons of action and Chimera monster violence. If you liked book 1, this is definitely a must read. If you haven't read book 1, get them both, and enjoy the thrill ride, you sure won't regret it. I hope this series is heading into book 3, don't leave your fans hanging in the wind Mr. Burns. The story is just to good to let it end here!
Sadly disappointed to have put so much time, effort, and money into the Beast books. I totally wasted my time reading both books in series. I would not have bought or read if I thought I was going down a dead end idea! Authors need to realize their audience has expectations that need to be fulfilled. I will remember the name of the author and won't be sucked in again!!
This was even more epic than the first book! This one spans the globe, and lots of places get destroyed in the battle to take down the beast. Plenty of gorey deaths, heroic feats, and higher ups causing disasters to enjoy here. I can’t wait for the next book!
I really enjoyed catching up with Palmer and Keno, and adding a couple of new characters that were great additions to their adventures. A slightly different feel than the first book (which they were battling a creature that they knew little about). This one involves more military and more firepower. Still a good story and it looks like there may be more in the future, which I will be looking for.
Really glad this second book was written. Kudos, Mr. Burns!! AWEsome. Eagerly awaiting the next. Well rounded characters, excellent story line, plenty of action, fast paced, and frankly, it could happen. Just look around us now.
Thanks, again, for an enjoyable read. 💣. Explosive
This story picks up where Summer of the Beast left Off. Palmer and Kino return to track and find another chimera that is smarter and more deadly than the first one. I love the characters and personalities of each. If you like cryptids, a GG read story like e and believable characters, you will love this book.
This was an excellent book. I enjoyed reading it. Everything I’ve always wondered about the CIA I’m sure it’s true. They’re not supposed to have any power. They’re only supposed to be for overseas, but yeah sure. Look at the way the world’s been excellent book. I can’t wait for the next one to come out to see how they going to get a bit of 13 of them.
Whew! What a scary ride! So much action it is breath taking. It is hard to realize a second book can be better than the first. Read them in order. Beware! These creatures hate humans, even though humans taste good. Can't wait for the 4th book! Can't NOT RECOMMEND them. Beware of torn and rendered bodies.
I found this to be an interesting topic. The author kept it realistic and exciting. I have only one complaint, I could not visualize what the beast really looked like!
This is my venue; it's why I watch every werewolf movie (are they real?)! I need to read all your books. I'll be making a list. just know, I'm 75 and you've made me a fan.
Wow. I never give 5. I ate this like a salty bag of chips! Dilemma. Do I go to his #1 and read from there? Or go on in the series from where I am. I also never comment, but this was not the ordinary read.
Grabbed my attention from the start and held it. I personally could do without the sex scenes but that's just me they were not x rated by any means. Storyline otherwise was very good.
I liked this and the first one. I really don't know if I will read the next one. The whole story is getting old with the same basic thing happening over and over again. I'll have to see in a few months.
I like these kind of stories where the government decides to use animals as weapons of war. Then they decide to also ramp up the abilities of the animals by messing with their genes or mixing different animals together to make some living nightmare of a creature. That is when the fun starts because they suddenly discover they can't control their creations and they have to call for help. So this time Matt and Kino are the one that are called on to help. only this time the chimera is bigger and harder than the one that they hunted and killed in the first. Not only are they facing that problem, but the people wanting their help keep threatening them with fire consequences if they talk. There are several surprises in this book that make for an interesting read. If you like to read stories with characters that you want to root for and hope they make it to the end then check this one out.
Found this two book series which I enjoyed which lead to another series he wrote, Nemesis. Takes a interesting plot into why we don't and shouldn't trust government to be honest with a bloody cost.
