Rate this book
As Rejoice! An Advent Pilgrimage into the Heart of Scripture, Year A follows the four weeks of Advent, it will help us prepare for and unpack the readings at mass each week.

Each week, we’ll begin on Thursday to prepare for the upcoming Sunday’s readings. Then from Monday through Wednesday of the following week, we’ll continue to unpack those readings.

On the fourth Sunday of Advent, the pattern changes. The “feel” of the daily reflections also changes as they shift to guided, imaginative prayers. Each meditation sets a scene based in Scripture and invites you to enter that scene personally as you pray.

The number of days in the last week of Advent varies from year to year, but you’ll find seven daily reflections to cover them all. The final meditation in the book is for Christmas Day.

Each day, in a few short pages, Fr. Toups provides you with aids to help guide your

A word - Focus on a single word each day to help you enter more deeply into that week's readings.A reflection - Explore each week’s readings and enter more deeply into them.A prompt - Space is provided each day to journal. Record how the Lord is speaking to you this Advent.

Father Mark included many meditations in this book, but since dates were not included, I missed three final meditations prior to the Christmas date. I read one per day so dates would have helped in knowing some weeks more reading was needed. Companion videos were not sent via email so I had to search for them on YouTube. Aside from that, Father Mark’s prompt to focus on certain words in the readings, made an impact on meditation and reflection. Well written.
