In this action-packed mystery thriller by #1 bestselling author Blake Pierce, Cora Shields, 30, former Navy Seal turned FBI Special Agent, is fired from the FBI for breaking one rule too many. When her 20 year old niece is kidnapped and trafficked in Eastern Europe, and the police can’t help, Cora’s sister pleads with her to intervene—and find her niece and bring her back alive. But can Cora take down a criminal organization alone—and find her in time?
On the outside, Cora Shields is a total badass. A Navy SEAL veteran and a top agent in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Cora has a reputation for doing whatever it takes to catch a killer. What no one knows, though, is that she’s a wreck on the inside, addicted to painkillers and deeply depressed. Sometimes, cases need to be pursued outside the law. With no backup, Cora is finally free to act, to bend as many rules as she needs to, at any cost, to bring killers down. She has found her new calling. But will it also be her undoing?

I love this series, Cora is so determined and willing to do good - in spite of at a personal cost -, it's a pity she is a work of fiction. In Unglued she ends up in the Czech Republic, together with Gabriel Finch, in order to locate his cousin who has been kidnapped and brought to that country. No need to say that hell breaks loose and that the story is packed with action, and fast-paced. It has a different ending, one that shows Cora willing to be part of a family at the same time she runs to face who may be the killer of her sister! Looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I thank the author for the ARC.
Ex Seal Cora takes on a suspected kidnapping case for her sister’s ex boyfriend’s family. His cousin was kidnapped and Cora agrees to find her in exchange for a location of Gabriel Finch’s father. Cora is still looking for answers to her sister’s disappearance years before. The senior Finch had written love letters to Cora’s sister. Cora and Gabriel end up in the Czech Republic dealing with ruthless men trafficking women. Lots of action and a high body count for the bad guys. Cora ends up bandaged and bruised too. Set up for another book closer to finding resolution to missing sister’s fate.
This book in the series was a disappointment not because of the store told but because the word hastening or stalking was over used. Surely the author could have found a different word. I kept reading those words over and over and honestly it was turning me off of the series. However, I am invested in the story and I want to know what happened to the sister. This was not a good read for me. I hope the next book in the series uses different words or I will be cringing that one too.
Okayyyy this is the 5th book, and I thought for sure we'd finally find out what happened to Cora's sister. Sadly, I just don't care at this point. It's been dragged out far too long, and now I'm supposed to wait 5 more months to maybe find out. Over it. This book was good overall, but the repetitivness of all the books could have been cut by focusing more on the sister
Cora & Gabriel are trying to locate his stepfather who they believe knows what happened to Cora's sister. In return for Cora's help finding his cousin, Gabriel's mom promises the information she needs. They end up in the Czech Republic where his cousin has been taken. Cora goes in and takes out the bad guys, grabs the cousin and they get away. Now she has the clue she needs. Can't wait for the next book!
